Identity

I will be supremely disappointed if she doesn't lip synch her acceptance speech.

On a side note (not directed to you in case you planned to answer me like it was)

I used to like Britney at her debut, it was cute, sexy but sane and everything..

I just lost her in the way, when she lost it, like many people.

She did have a career, but I really don't get the point of honoring her, what did she bring to music?, to culture? to the term legend? to History? yes like all artists she works hard, she has to deal with lots of things and she's not always getting good advices, or she is but not follow them.. who cares at this point, they all do the same...

But a tribute to Britney? Is she really that important now in music history? I'm not saying her fans are crazy to like her, at all, but she hasnt' accomplished anything yet beside getting herself together... she's still a fish in the ocean.

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

Is she going to be on stage, make a speech? Cause Ill watch just to see her medicated ass sluring and trying to focus her blood shot glassy eyes @ the teleprompter.

Plus Ya'll are giving MTV too much props in the credibilty department.

britney hasn't influenced anything to the pop scene. I used to adore her, but really who is going to pay tribute to her

I bet they'll have Miley Cyrus do a cover version of Baby One More Time.

I freakin love her but... really?? Why can't she just perform herself? She's not dead, there's no need for a tribute after ten years when she's RIGHT THERE.

We humans need to start thanking before caskets and funerals. I'm beginning to learn this lesson.

You're right.. good point ... but she does get a lot of credit. I mean, she's an icon. I love her. But why can't she just do a performance on her own? I don't get why a tribute needs to be done when she could just perform?

I feel the VMAS are going to be lame this year so they need Britney's to boost their ratings. Britney still has her fanbase but het popularity has decline Lady GaGa Rhianna and Katy Perry have taken her shine.
MTV is really reaching.....

I don't know how accurate this is but this is what's currently rumored. eek

Check out this rumored breakdown of Britney's MTV VMA Tribute special.

00:20: Intro Video (ft. Inside Out/Mickey Mouse Club Theme)
01:10: ...Baby One More Time (Selena Gomez)
00:55: I'm A Slave 4 U (Miley Cyrus)
00:45: Toxic (Demi Lovato)
01:00: 3 (Selena/Miley/Demi)
01:15: Hold It Against Me (Katy Perry/Rihanna)
00:25: Till The World Ends-Rap Verse (Nicki Minaj)
00:15: Till The World Ends-Acapella (Britney Spears)
02:35: (Drop Dead) Beautiful (Britney Spears ft. Sabi)

The entire production will run 8 minutes, and will open the show. The introductory video will be eerie, and will feature a home video of a six year old Britney Spears playing with Barbies. This will lead into Selena Gomez singing "...Baby" in a signature school girl outfit. Followed by Miley Cyrus, whispering "...I know I may be young..." with a snake draped around her neck. Then, Demi Lovato enters rises from the center of the stage with a sequined costume on. As Demi's song ends, all girls strut to left stage, put on Mickey Mouse ears and sing "3" in a manner that will surely have people talking the next day. (Hint..Hint...think 2003) As their shocking performance ends, lights fade up on Katy Perry who is soon joined by Rihanna in singing "Hold It Against Me". As their song ends, Nicki Minaj comes from the back of the audience wearing a ringleader outfit and singing her "World Ends" verse. As she finishes, all eyes shift to Britney who performs her song with Sabi. (Details of this will be available later) Before Video of the Year is presented, there will be a video monage of Britney videos with excerpts of stars thanking Britney for her contributions to music including: Miley Cyrus (confirmed), Lady Gaga (confirmed), Justin Timberlake (unconfirmed), Selena Gomez (confirmed), Joe Jonas (confirmed), Will.I.Am (unconfirmed), and Christina Aguilera (unconfirmed). As the video ends, Madonna enters the stage, makes a brief statement and presents Britney the Lifetime Achievement Award.

That's right, Janet paved the way for her, I can only hope and pray these kids paying tribute respect Janet too, cause Britney is a white Janet Jackson. I remember in her early days, she was copying EVERYTHING, even working with her directors and choreographers and it's unfair that on legend books with MJ on the cover, I don't see Madonna cause she's older nor Janet cause she's MJ's sister and black, I see non-singing Britney that I would like if she didn't ruin her voice. And the worst? Stupid people my age looking down on Janet only knowing recent songs, but going gaga for Britney who copied her.

.

If I was Britney, I would go Aretha Franklin on MTV and not accept this award. This is the same MTV that made her perform Give Me More while in such bad shape, and her heart is truly not in it and now they want to lick her ass and give her an award just cause she's touring, it's for sympathy and ratings. I would have turned it down, the VMA's are a mess, MTV is not about music anymore. She should stick up for herself now, she was terrible at the Billboard's. And worst of all, MADONNA agrees to participate in this garbage? None of these people have self-respect left anymore.

I'm 28. Was 6 at the oldest in the 80s, but have early memories of being 3 and then it became clear after 4 though so much happened since. Now I remember stuff in flashes, but my parents and family would often play videos, records and the radio too, and I would watch whatever early to mid 80s bids we had on tape since 87 or so and remember a few 80s toys and fads here and there, like owning the thriller view master, and so on. As I said earlier though, I didn't know Janet, though I knew Michael and even jermaine

Yeah, and Janet wouldn't of made it without Michael, who stole so much from James Brown, who ripped off Ray Charles, Little Willie John, Clyde McPhatter, AND Little Richard (that son of a bitch)...

Ray Charles took all his shit from Art Tatum, Nat King Cole, Louis Jordan, Charles Brown, and Louis Armstrong. To save you a shit load of details, these people pretty much ripped off gospel music. disbelief How could they?!?!?!!?

I mean, really? All of these people paved the way for each other. That's how music works, that's how it evolves. So stop pointing fingers because by your logic, everyone has been ripping off each other. Britney did what she knew and expanded on that. Yeah, she's not this great artist, yeah she lost a lot of what made her great before (which is unfortunate, but we don't know her, we can't judge). But she was a wonderful performer, she danced since she was three.. and again, she did what she freakin knew. She said time and time again that Janet was a huge inspiration and she admired her heavily, as well as Michael, and Madonna and so on.. Every generation is stupid according to your logic.

Stop calling people stupid.

If I was Britney, I would go Aretha Franklin on MTV and not accept this award. I know they were all inspired by others too. I like some britney songs too, but her voice became awful, maybe the smoking did it? I just think someone deserving of the talent should be getting the award, like Beyonce. I found nothing special about Britney and her "iconic" school girl get up when it was not an original idea, and Mya did it a few months before her in 98' though little white girl Britney was more marketable. This is more about race and lack of talent than anything here, and media hype making her out to be great and special.
