That girl was a troubled soul. I was still having a bit of hope she would overcome her demons but I guess there was no way. sad Anyway, you don't have to suffer no more Amy. No more.

Very sad news. I'm thankful I got to see her live twice here in NY. Both shows were great so I never saw her bad side.

That's something I'll regret, that I never got to see her live, what a great memory you'll have!

I got the news about it THERE^ just moments ago. This is tragic, without question.

But lets us be real for a moment. I'm not surprise about Amy's death TBDH (no pun intended). This is the same woman that once dare sang a song that mocked the idea of going to Rehab, despite that it was her on-agan, off-again drug problem that marked the beginning of her end.

Yeah! Prince warned her about her live style 4 years ago... some people just don't listen.

He sure did. nod

You 2 should stop displaying your self-righteous ignorance - its not becoming and is disrespectful. You reallly think drug addiction is as easy to beat as just listening to someone teling you to stop? Blame and righteous indignation instead of compassion - nice one!

RIP Amy - a tragic loss of talent.

yes, everyone saw it coming just like Kurt Cobain, but it is still shocking because at 27 it happens suddenly despite the behavioral warning signs.

Until it happens there is hope that this person will get it together. And there was hope with Amy, but in an instant it's over, and that is shocking as well as sad.

It is not the same as someone who is 90 years old dying (which is equally sad, but more inevitible)

Exactly. As a fan, I had been expecting that this news may come sooner or later, but the headline was still a shock to my system.

I'm sorry she couldn't overcome the demon of addiction.

I'm thinking out loud: does ANYONE really beat drug addiction? I don't care if you're famous or not, I'm seeing for real - and should've - that drug addiction is really a hard thing to overcome. You can be off cocaine for 20 years and then be high on some shit like Demerol for 15 years. Plus girl also had an alcohol problem. You can't easily defeat addiction no matter how many warnings you get. The brain triggers something in you when you take drugs.

Ah! Do you feel better now? Someone who writes, records and releases a song called "Rehab" and flaunts her addiction, is certainly not really trying to get rid of any addiction! So therefore, I can't really feel sorry for her! I feel sorry for her parents and friends, who stood by and could do nothing about it.

is the footage of her singing at the record company and radio station on youtube?

I haven't found the record company demo, but the live radio session are 'The DL', here's one and there are three or four more. Also the live AOL sessions are cool, search for them too. The demo is in the additional features on her Live DVD and tell her life story, she had such a awesome raw talent.

Also, look for her live stuff on Jools Holland or the North Sea Jazz Festival, they're very cool too.

Oh my fucking holy God! I am in tears folks. I have worried about this for years, just knew she would fall. One of the single most talented people on the planet just didn't feel much like living; I guess that's what soul music really is about, rubbing shoulders with demons. Her demons took her, sadly.

One of the great losses in music history. This is as big as Kurt Cobain or John Lennon. What's really going to piss me off in the next few days is the hate from the media, making fun of her drinking and bad moments. I won't let them do it. She was uncomfortable in her skin. We need to help those who have these moments so the same thing doesn't happen.

I feel close to my org buddies at this sad moment:

grouphug

Drugs, alcohol, it's a bad scene people. It has killed too many great people. Will this silly madness ever end? Have a good time but don't make it your religion.

The media killed her. But I will leave it there.

Just listen to her music and remember. Rest in peace soul sister.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Commenting here on this board really has no great purpose other than to let

fellow boarders know that I am sorry she died and that she has gained peace;

I guess we can all share in this remorse.

But as soon as I felt remorse, I realized that I was only personally pained

for her because she is a celebrity; don't forget the people who died in Norway

and the famine in Somalia. They weren't celebrities but everywhere, isn't

human life sacred?

Not because of her celebrity, because of her talent.

She wasn't some bimbo pin-up pop star. If her voice didn't catch you, like Adele, her looks weren't.

People die every minute of every day with varying degrees of impact. It's simply not possible to mourn every death so why act like we can or should?

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Wow. 27...

I think I'm more surprised at the fact that she never got her act together after all these years. She had one bad gig after another. Always wondered who her entourage was. Why couldn't her manager hire someone who would watch how much drugs/alcohol she would intake before a show? The track record of her behavior is astonishing

When I read the headline, my heart jumped. I can honestly say I was surprised, because I did not expect to log on to my computer today to learn Amy Winehouse had died. Nevertheless, it makes perfect sense.

I saw an article about her just a few days ago, walking down the street with no entourage or security, and I thought "Oh, that's nice", and she appeared unusually sober. I'm always saddened when someone dies, even bad people. Although I didn't see her as a bad person, just tragic. And while I wasn't crazy about a lot of her songs, I thought she was very talented, and sang really well.

I'm mostly upset, maybe even a little angry, that she wasn't able to pull it together. But perhaps she's in a better space now. I hope she's found the peace in death that apparently eluded her in life.

The negative comments are making me fierce. No wonder we have terrorists. We should all be classy about this--the girl is dead, dead!

What if it was Prince? I would be the first crying like a baby beyond my troubles with him lately.

I imagine the people who made fun of her over the years will of a sudden sing her praises out of nowhere. It sounds crazy but that just seems to be human nature.

Self-destruction yes but those that like to egg and egg on and add fuel to the fire are disgusting.

Drugs are not a punchline. The girl needed help.
