This thing is air supply meats Cyndie Lauper, The Prodigy meets Blondie, Journey meets Nina Hagen, all bumping and grinding on a rhretro-80's dance floor....I friggen love it.

I think the thing was that I loved The Fame Monster so much that I told myself not to have any expectations of the new album. Sophomore albums (I know TFM is the real sophmore album, but I consider this one to be) always tend to be a bit off for artists. But this one hits all the right notes for me.

What I really like is that lady Gaga knows where to grow her market and establish long lasting fan support---on the dancefloor. Every danceclub in the world is going to be spinning mixes from this thing.

I'm sure people (critics) are going to knock it for this or that thing, but that's fine with me. I simply love this album. It has been a long, long, looooooong time since and album made me burst out laughing with joy.

I adore this woman! lol

I wish someone's project would hit me like that these days. I'm glad you're enjoying BTW so much.

I don't follow Gaga, so I'd assumed the artwork introduced weeks ago was fan art or some joke. I saw the actual CD in a store yesterday and just couldn't believe it. disbelief

The Compromise Theory:
Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives.
The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists.
Is it a deal?

I've finally heard the album (4 times already)

It's a superbly produced electronic/dance/pop/rock/mainstream albu, but not much more. In fact, it sounds like "The Fame Monster 2, The Sequel: You Wanted More, You've Got More oral "

The album tries too hard to be the ultimate pop album of the 09-11 era but it fails. A competent/worthy B+ album (as I predicted) but not a masterpiece for the ages.

If anything. this album proves that GaGa may have a "long" (8-12 years) career as a dance/rock/pop diva...Her music is INSANELY better/more interesting/funnier than Rihanna, Bitchney, Beyoncé, Xtina, Ke$ha, Katie Perry, etc. She plays in another league, definitely...And NICE booklet by the way, the cover is UGLY, but the inside pics are cool/hot...

The songs:

CLASSICS: Marry the Night (why this wasn't the second single is beyond me...) The kind of song that Madonna would kill for these days...

GOOD: Born this Way, Judas (a bit annoying, but it reminds of Pokerface or Monster and that's a plus), Edge of Glory, Heavy Metal Lover, Higway Unicorn, Electric Chapel, Hair

BLAH/JUVENILE/COMPETENT FILLER: Scheiße, Bloody Mary, Bad Kids

BAD: Americano barf, Gov Hooker (headache)

WEIRD/WTF?: You and I (a Shania Twain-inspired anthem??? really? eek , wth was this all about? Robert John Mutt Lange working with GaGa??? whofarted were they trying to ridicule Shania or something??? ).

Old CEOs Could Learn A Few New Tricks From Lady Gaga

May 26, 2011

Singer Lady Gaga may be recognized by most for her provocative outfits and wild shows, but she can school corporations in strategic innovation, a German business researcher told Reuters this week.

Lady Gaga, whose second album, Born This Way, was released on Monday, is widely expected to produce strong sales and land atop the music charts, regardless of critical reception.

A result that is largely due to her ability to vary how consumers relate to her brand, said Martin Kupp, a professor at the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin.

"Lady Gaga blurs the industry boundaries and it's not really clear if she's a musician, artist or fashion designer," said Kupp, an author of a recent book on business lessons from artists such as singer Madonna and Renaissance painter Titian.

"I think there may be people out there who associate her much more with fashion or with other sorts of entertainment than music," Krupp added of the 25-year-old whose attention-getting attire has included a raw meat dress.

Billboard estimated 450,000 to 750,000 copies of her record released by Universal Music Group's Interscope Records could be sold in the first week alone.

High demand for a special 99-cent download of the album caused the servers of online retailer Amazon to crash.

Kupp and his colleagues in a recent case study credit the singer's social media strategy as a way for businesses to learn new methods to shake up an established industry.

By using social network Facebook and micro-blogging site Twitter, Lady Gaga has developed an army of fans through virtual interaction and not by pushing traditional marketing principles of promotion, product and price onto consumers, Kupp said.

"Social media is not a one-way communication and I think Lady Gaga understands that," Kupp said. "It's more about emotions, engagement and interactivity, so she's very advanced."

Lady Gaga refers to herself as "mother monster" and her fans as "little monsters," Kupp noted, adding that such a bond is not lost on consumers.

"That's what you're looking for in social media," he said. "It's to create much more intimacy than what you created with traditional marketing instruments."

Kupp said Lady Gaga's business strategy has been able to breathe life into the music industry which has struggled to adapt its business model with the technological change to Internet downloads and online piracy.

"She's a role model to show that it's not only about music but also about concerts, merchandising, art, fashion, media and daily life," Kupp said, adding that her record label profits on all of her other activities, too.

YES! As I type this, I have HML blasting! Those "ohhs" in the chorus are beyond infectious. That song is the jam! The whole album is sick.

One year ago I balked at music critics and devotees dubbing her an emerging pop visionary. The mere thought of it left me both baffled and amused. After listening to the new album, I'm humbled and amazed at the strength of her songwriting and growth in such a short period of time. Now, I'm a true believer.

Yes, her songwriting is so broad in scope and miles ahead of so many others in her field of music. I just watched her MTV special where it was just her speaking with an interviewer, and noticed how articulate and well-spoken she is (in amongst all the F-bombs lol ). She carries herself in a way that is way beyond her years.
