Americano is just an insane mix of beats, noise and yelling which on first listen made me hit the skip button.

Now I can't stop listening to it and I love, love, love it's insanity. The album alone could have had that and I would have been happy.

I hate to say it, but it reminds me of Madonna's little gypsy section on the Sticky & Sweet tour.

stickpoke

Judas is still just a horrendous noise though.

Overall I got something fabulous. Not as fabulous as I would have liked, and not as fabulous as she said it would be, but I'm happy.

nod "Americano" is genius, to me. The screaming, the beats, the bombastic flamenco guitars. It has that frantic, insane vibe that "Bad Romance" had the first time you hear that one, but even moreso.

I would like to see her release a controversial video with this song depicting spanish conquistadors coming to America and slaughtering the people who don't speak their language.

Really? Now I really need toseekout the bonus tracks because Only inmy dreams is oneof my fave songs of all time.

So far my favorite songs from Born this way are...

Government Hooker

Marry the night

Judas

Edge of glory

You and I

Americano

Bloody Mary

This album I think will grow on me a lot. Is it just me or does this album have a lot of early 90s dance influences like Rhythm is a dancer by Snap? This album is definitely better than American Life that's for sure and i'm a huge madge fan. cool

I tried 2 listen 2 the album again...from first track 2 the last, no skipping...and I gotta say that I was so relieved when the last track finished and "Flowers on the mountain" by Kate Bush started 2 play. "Director's cut" was the next album on the iTunes playlist. It was like going from noise 2 music.

You And I came on and i thought blimey this sounds like Shania Twain, then i looked and it's produced by Mutt Lange, that'll be why. So far enjoying very much, faves are Americano, Heavy Metal Lover and The Edge Of Glory.

The Edge Of Glory.

cool

It was something of a forgettable track for me until I saw the performance at the Radio 1 gig last week.

Guuurl is hitting them notes to breathy perfection.

But Judas is still just a frigging noise, and the album cover is hilariously bad.

Americano is a blast. Honestly, one of the few I can make it all the way through. As I've said before, I like the Gaga show, but for the most part, the music just does nothing for me, no matter how many times I try. Without the crazy outfits and the busy production, these songs would never be noticed. They're just completely generic. Sigh.

Some might be generic, but not all of them. The standard edition of the album is pretty much flawless, IMO. Some cheeseball lyrics here and there, but I can't remember a great pop album that lacked cheeseball lyrics. I love the art direction (minus the motorcycle pic) and the entire aura of desperation and despair on this album is chilling at times.

This is her best work yet and it gets better with age before it's even been released.

After a few days i can really say i oike it much better than her first album. There are a few tracks i could do without, but i realy love a lot of tracks. It sounds much more mature.

Favourites so far:

Judas: Although i doesn't get a lot of love, i think it's a great track

Born this way remix: yeah baby!

Goverment hooker: amazing song, hope this will be a single so i can get some remixes cool

Scheisse: altough i don't know what she's saying...if it's german, her accent is too big for me to understand it LOL

Edge of heaven

Track i could really do without: Mary the night and Americano (why? Why? Why?)

Just saw the HBO Monster Ball....looooved it! I didn't know her show was so much fun. Loved her screams....

Yes...i'm having a GAGA weekend! headbang music excited

I agree. It's certainly a dynamic record and completely unlike anything any of her rivals have put out. Rolling Stone gave it a four-star review, calling it "brilliant".

It has some real moments of genius. Everything is top shelf in my opinion, but there are specific bright spots that really show you just how much creativity went into it.

Little touches that make it special for me:

- The modulation on "Fashion of His Love" towards the end.

- The warped vocals on the 2nd verse on "Bloody Mary".

- The keyboards during the sax solo on "Edge of Glory".

- The shotgun blasts on "Americano".

- The intro to "Edge of Glory" being a heartbeat and the outro being a sax flatline.

- "Scheisse" being a covert anthem for strong women. Who knew?

- The vocal arrangement on "Heavy Metal Lover".

Agreed. This album is a breath of fresh air in this era of pop tartlets with not much to say.

Marry The Night- Awesome vocals and beat.

Born This Way- Uplifting anthem that rings true, particularly in this climate of kids taking their own lives due to bullying, feeling outcast etc.

Gov't Hooker- Fucking brilliant. The DJ White Shadow beat. Gaga's delivery. The background vocals of her (sexy) 6'6" bodyguard Peter Van Der Veen. The naughty lyrics. A winner

Judas- Catchy, sing-along chorus and gritty, thumping beats. Love the biblical good guy vs. bad guy metaphors. JUDAS GA-GAAA!!

Americano- Gaga does flamenco! Hilarious and campy! I've never heard her sing this way before. Loved it!

Hair-Not sure why this one doesn't get a lot of love, because it's surely one empowering, sweet piece of aural candy, perfect for blasting at full volume while driving down the highway (which is exactly what I did yesterday lol ). I'm loving the "We Belong" Pat Benatar vibe.

Scheiße- From the husky German spoken intro until the very end, a club banger in every since of the word. Her "Oww!" only adds to the hotness.

Bloody Mary-Eerie and atmospheric without going too overboard.

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion- LOVE the moody synths throughout. It harkens back to the '80s yet stays modern.

Bad Kids- My rambunctious little cousins now have a battle cry lol . I love the beat, particularly during the catchy chorus.

Fashion of His Love- Gorgeous piece of 80s-esque pop. I'll bet that back in the day, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson would've had a catfight to see who got to record this one.

Highway Unicorn (Road To Love)- Gaga channelling Springsteen. I can see the video for this epic track now.

Heavy Metal Lover- Brilliant and sexy. The whispered "Oh oh oh oh oh"s. The sexy lyrics. The summery vibe. heart x1,000

Electric Chapel- Gothic electronica mixed with the rock guitar. Sweet.

The Queen- Awesome power vocals, and I love how the production slows down 2/3s of the way into the song.

You and I- Part Def Leppard, part Queen, with kick ass lyrics and vocal delivery.

The Edge of Glory- All at once touching, uplifting, and powerful. Some of the best vocals on the album, and when it's performed live with just the piano and vocals--fuggeddaboudit. I can see why it immediately shot to #1 on iTunes and debuted at #3 on the Hot 100. Clarence Clemons' sax adds to its goodness. Her grandpa would be proud.

Scheisse and Bloody Mary took a few spins for me to get. Same w/ Black Jesus. I wasn't feelin' it at all at first. Still not that into The Queen, but its probably a grower. There's just SO MUCH material. 17 songs is huge for a brand new pop artist!

It's definitely better now that I have a legit version; the early leak I downloaded was a murky mess of what must have been unfinished tracks. I still maintain that it's not a coherent album and really comes off as a collection of singles. Some of the tracks just have too much going on and aren't coherent themselves, especially Bad Kids. I love that Mutt Lange turned Yoü and I into a Shania Twain track—if it becomes a hit we'll all know where the real talent in that marriage was!

Overall, I'm happy with this for a $0.99 Amazon special. But there's no way I would walk into a store and buy it for the full price.

My advise to anyone who hasn't bought it yet is don't bother with the special edition, the extra tracks are awful rip-offs!

I'm not making any judgments about the songs yet. Her music seems to irritate me and then grow on me slowly and BIG TIME. Songs that I will hate right now will become my favorites after a while.
