HE WAS NOT A WORLDLY TEACHER!

He had a message, and it was a heartfelt one, but that does not make him a teacher.

Ghandi... and MLK stood up for something.

You can't equate them with Michael Jackson.

They where leaders of a movement.

Michael, never created a movement past his own ego, despite his good deeds.

And ontop of that I don't condone worship of MLK or Ghandi...

They both had their faults. Ghandi was a racist, MLK was a womanizer.

Don't worship the person worship the message.

John Lennon said...

"I don't believe in anything... I just believe in me"

By worshipping the person you're no better then a religion.

Michael loved his fans, but in many ways he did resent us because we catered to this type of thinking.

we are essentially saying the same thing... we just go about it differently. the teachings are ABOUT the message. what else would they be about, may i ask?

how is not conveying a message not teaching something? if anyone learns something from it in a significant way, then it's a teaching, in a very rudimentary way. you and i see the philosophy of teaching differently. that's cool. we all learn differently. i don't judge the way others choose to learn.

somehow, the way i (and others) happen to explain it are not meeting your needs. let us just agree to dis-agree at this point.

Maybe michael wasn't a teacher to some of you, but he was to many others who did not always have people serving their emotional needs in their personal lives....and I'm sure prince was a teacher to you in some unmentionable ways wink

people is tryin' to trip! SHAMON!

the fact that people are utilizing energy to even have some of these discussions means that they see value in michael, right? so i'm not too worried about the people who are tryin' to trip. these same people are saying there are larger issues. well, here ya go. of COURSE there are.

'the teacher' has spoken! HA!

1) You don't know who I am and hence cannot make that judgement and expect it to be viable.

2) Again, I never said I worshipped the man. Some may, but I don't.

3) If you're talking about the "BeLIEvers", then you might have a point. I am not one of them. To feel that Michael is alive in spirit isn't a crime and it's not unhealthy.

4) this is a Discuss Everything and Anything MJ thread. This thread is here so we can discuss anything and everything that comes to mind when we think of MJ and his music or otherwise. And it's not always the "same old stuff". So what's your point? If you have a problem, maybe you should be the one who leaves...since this kind of activity bothers you.

We all like to remember people we care about and/or admire in different ways. I don't see why you should be on the offensive about it. Does it affect you personally? This community of MJ fans on prince.org are actually more sane than those on official MJ forums and that's why I'm here.

This is an Everything and Anything MJ sticky on a Prince message board.

The sole reason for this sticky was to stop the influx of mj post

Because MJ fans would flood the boards every chance they got and piss off orgers.

Have we forgotten this.

It was cute, when he was alive.

But he's going to be dead for two years, and it's still here.

Why...

I don't understand it.

Remembering someone is great. But you lot are excessive.

And c'mon sherry. MJ is equating him with MLK?

if you don't think thats odd. Than you're no better than the crack pots on on MJFC

I'll let MJJStudent take your little inquiry there and answer it herself.

As for me, I didn't make that comparison, don't put words I didn't speak into my mouth, please. And even if I did, it's a free world and we're entitled to think whatever we want. And as far as my views on Michael go, I don't feel at liberty to discuss them with you, since you can't even be civil.

This is one thread on a forum that contains literally thousands of threads not pertaining to Michael Jackson. You're making a big deal about that? The moderators run this place well, so there really is no giant conflict of interests happening between the Prince and MJ fans. Believe it or not, I'm here also because I love Prince (many patrons of this thread are here for Prince too).

So learn to live with the diversity...

Ahh now we're hiding behind the guise of civility.

This isn't an assault on you, just a discourse on you're personal politics regarding the subject matter.

Because I don't know you, the only thing I know about you stems from this forum, and that's where I make my judgement.

I am is just a savage reflection. The mirroring syntax from your mother tongue. I don't mean you any harm.

i'm not gonna entertain someone who didn't read what i said either... i wasn't comparing michael to MLK. this is EXACTLY what i said: "people see folks like ghandi or MLK as teacher... why is it they don't get accused of seeing THEIR teachers as gods? when we leave this earth, we would HOPE that we leave some positive impact, and that people learn from us. i don't see a problem with that."

i didn't say that they were the same person. i think that because michael is a figure in popular culture, he's supposed to be relegated to just singing and dancing. i think this is part of the larger issue. when he did 'they don't care about us', people were like, 'oh HAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIL NAW!' people thougt he was getting into territory he wasn't supposed to go. he's just supposed to do 'billie jean and 'thriller' his whole life, and shut up and make money. MLK and ghandi are deemed as 'political' figures, whereas michael is usually not.

for those who know me well, i see EVERYTHING as having political significance. michael is no different. again, 'embattled warrior' and others have not spoken to me on my thoughts, so i can't entertain someone who is not willing to even know what they are. i'm just agreeing to dis-agree. that's all i'm saying on this.

people who killed themselves think they did it cause of michael, but I strongly believe they were running away from other issues and using michael to mask them and unfortunately did not find the strength to help themselves

as for the ouija board/devil stuff, if you are a believer in god, isn't your religion discouraging you from using that stuff?

He was a good man, not a prophet.

i will say in many ways it is semantics, as the term 'teacher' means many things to many people. our views are shaped on our experiences.

i was not inspired to be an active-ist because of michael... i was already doing the work i do before i considered michael a teaching. i could e mail you WHY i consider michael a teacher... it's not all about him. he is part of a larger systemic issue. how i see those issues just resonated with me, in how he presented himself, as a man.

i was actually writing a book for two years on these issues prior to 2009, before i was even familiar with this site.

i hold no judgments against anyone here. and you are correct on your other post, in terms of only gaining a viewpoint according to how one presents themselves on this site. this is why i'm into the really long posts- but not a lot of people are into that.

i think this goes with michael as well. he presented himself in a certain way, but he, like any of us who go out in public, never present the full person. so we cast our opinions according to how we view him. myself, i view him as a teacher. i do view him as a socio-political figure, in relation to his experience as a black man in the u.s., amongst other things. again, i can send you some of my writings, so you can get a fuller picture. you still may not agree, but at least it will be a fuller picture.

as i said, teaching is reciprocal. to me, teaching is NOT about dogma. the main point of the teachings is to ALWAYS QUESTION YOUR TEACHER. if you don't question your teacher you never learn anything. someone who is a great teacher should never assume the role of dominance. a teacher must always be willing to learn from students.

is michael a prophet? i cannot say. i think he acknowleged a connection to GOD that many do not. i believe we all have it. this is in no way saying we are better than GOD. to me, GOD is not a mythical figure we humanize in order to feel better about ourselves. to me, GOD is in everything. for michael, performing was a part of that connection. with that he did the work of sharing his time, energy and money to help people. to me this is GOD'S work.

a lot of people who claim to be christian don't even do half the work michael did, and yet they judge him by his actions.

again, to me it's all about intent.

in relation to prophesy, i think we all have the ability to be intuitive, on a very basic level. if we are sensitive to energy we can feel something happening. we are conditioned to not be in tune with it, but we all do have that ability. i cannot say if michael used it. but we all use it from time to time, like when we decide if we should walk down a certain street or something.

did michael predict major world catastrophies? i personally don't think so... but thter eare some who do, i realize that.

so yeah, these sites are hard to navigate sometimes, because most of us don't really know each other that well, and this is all we got. this is why all those judgments make me laugh. because unless we talk to a person in full or on a regular basis, we will never get a fuller understanding.

but i hear you as well.
