I'm not surprised either.

Lady Gaga would beat Britney's new album as well. For sure.

Unfortunately, we are living in Gaga's world now. neutral

At one point the drums go off beat for some reason. lol

I'm still amazed people have to listen to it 15 times to love it. I listened to it again this morning before taking a nap... nope still don't like it. I give Stefani kudos for trying to make an anthem, but she missed the mark to me.

Gaga Fans Divided Over New Single

February 11, 2011

Lady GaGa's new single 'Born This Way' has been met with a mixed response from fans.

The track, which was officially unveiled and released today, has divided opinion amongst her fanbase, with some claiming the number sounds similar to Madonna's 1989 hit 'Express Yourself'.

Digital Spy forum member dirrrty wrote: "Totally ripped off Madonna lol, so much for being original eh Gaga. Wasn't worth all the hype", while Paparazzo commented: "I listen to it and can't help thinking it should be used for fitness videos."

Soljo said that he is fan of the track, adding: "I think it will come into its own and be incredible when she does it live on tour. It's the kind of song that simply rocks the house down."

jcheekychappy admitted that he wasn't impressed with the song, confessing: "To say underwhelmed is an understatement. If this does well, it just goes to show people will buy anything because they are told it's good."

Comparing the track to Britney Spears's 'Hold It Against Me', domesticated wrote: "Hate to say it - but even Britney is better than this - and she is my least favorite artist."

GaGa recently claimed that the public wants to see her fail. confused

'Born This Way' is available to download now.

Wow. I guess this is what happens when you set expectations too high. I am curious to see what else she got in store for the album. Maybe she'll surprise me. Hopefully there's more tricks in the bag than this one trick pony.

...i love how all the stupid folks who hate on madonna as an old hag have more proof every day that the current biggest pop star in the world is nothing but a sad imitation.

love 'so happy i could die' but the rest of her shit, bar 'alejandro' (totally ABBA/Ace of Base meets La Isla = good), is ... beyond a tribute at this point. it's copyright infringement.

ugh I agree that the song does not live up to expectations confused Gaga definitely hyped it up too much. It's very generic. On the other hand, the song isn't bad at all, and certainly more worthy of #1 than anything Shitney Spears is putting out these days lol

and I don't get why some people are crying foul about the similarities to "Express Yourself" by Madonna? Yes some of this song sounds similar, but Madonna would have no right to sue for copy infringement lol Do most people not know that "Express Yourself" is a rip-off of "Respect Yourself" by the Staple Singers? So if anyone should be pissed, it's the Staple Singers lol

I just laugh when people whine about today's pop stars ripping off Madonna as if Madonna was some original super diva who created all of her own material. Madonna still remains the biggest rip-off queen in the history of the business with all the work she has copied and plagiarized over the years confused

but back to Gaga-hopefully the rest of her album is better than this lackluster song. It's gonna be hard for her to come out with something better than her debut though.

This is a perfect example of why artists shouldn't hype up their own shit.

Now let's see if she gets ripped apart like Christina Aguilera did for NMT.

Great song.

It's obviously gonna get hated by the majority of the people on this forum because they cry and moan about "music these days is so shit" blah blah. Bunch of Lady Gaga haters.

This was an awesome single. Took me by surprise, I'm not even a fan of hers (I don't dislike her either) and I like this.

I find it pretty obvious that the people who are ready for Lady Gaga to go away grasp for straws when it comes to her releases and her every other move too. The song doesn't sound anymore like "Express Yourself" than any other thumping beat, gay disco song. And since when was "Express Yourself" an original concept?

It's all about celebrating yourself and not feeling like shit and for a lot of her fans, I think they relate to that because of how she has marketed herself (a patron saint of the outcast). She does appear to be a bit in the groove of that role, but I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It's kind of silly to tear an artist down for being in touch with her fanbase (which she is for the most part). In a world where gay people are -constantly- being treaded on, it is going to be cool for young fans who may be gay or may even not be gay and just appreciate the message to be able to see that its a common thread amongst more people than perhaps they feel right now.

This isn't an, "Oh think of the children" reply rather I just find it sad that people spend so much time trying to destroy another person. Its one thing to weigh in on something and say you don't like it, but people say P:M&M is awful and super critical and rude about Prince and how that is such an awful way to be - you come to M:N-P and its the same thing directed at other artists except in a more smug manner because, apparently, being a prince fan means you are more intelligent about music than the average bear (hint: this is false).

You get caught in an endless loop of feedback when you start tossing out ridiculous insults about celebrities. Ambivalence towards the kind of energy you're putting out there is symptomatic of a bigger issue. That is to say, if you really feel the need to make a post calling someone a "fucking ugly bitch" or something of the sort and ya'll pretend to be adults daytiming as trolls about a woman younger and richer and likely more talented than you, then it's crossing an unpleasant line into even more unpleasant territory.

The song isn't perfect and it's probably not meant to be. Ya'll who take every word she says as gospel are the ones for whom those words are said. You guys run with it and keep the idea of Gaga being a voice of a generation on the tips of your tongue and everytime you mention Gaga, you mention her effect on you in the same breath (all the while thinking you are somehow doing something to contribute to her downfall).

Whether you hate it or not and whether or not you say whatever you want, the outcome is the same. The biggest way to kill a celebrity is to stop talking so fucking much about them. So if only the lowly few fans who are digging the stuff are left having the discussion, maybe they will create their own den of bitches called LadyGaga.org and they can have a subforum where everyone talks about how their music taste (aka I listened to Pandora for a while and picked up every black artist in 20 years) is flawless. In the end, you're still spending all that time running your lips about someone who you supposedly hate. If it were an exlover, your friends would be wondering why the hell you can't get over it.

AMEN! Why is it that everything this woman releases gets instantly compared to Madonna? To me, "Alejandro" sounded nothing like "La Isla Bonita", and "Born This Way" sounds nothing like "Express Yourself". She is doing her own thing. Whenever a thread about her gets started on here, it blows up and goes from 0 to 500 views in 15 minutes...meaning people are most certainly interested in her. She's already broken Britney's record, and will probably break more soon. Let it be and enjoy the music. If you don't enjoy it, switch the station.

listen to the first verse of LIB and then the first verse of Alejandro, throw in Don't Turn Around by Ace of Base and stir.

And if you don't hear the chorus of EY in the chorus of BDW after 2 listens...i wonder...

oh well to each their own. I actually don't like gaga but i think it's cool if she succeeds - her message is very positive and better than Britney spears, xxxtina, and RiRi and Katy Perry.

just gets on my nerves the way she rips off. yes madonna ripped off and continues to "pay homage" to many. but she often acknolwedges it openly and more infuses it into her work. Gaga so thinly veils her shit ... i mean the "Alejandro" video - it's like a montage you'd see at one of M's concerts practically! "Vogue" "Like A Prayer" "Deeper and "Deeper" "The Beast Within" intro - it's frame for frame, almost!

but the good news is MTV doesn't play videos anymore so trash like Katy Perry and then even the middle of the road/slightly better than Katy Perrys like Gaga won't ever come near the impact that Prince/Madonna/MJ had back in the day with their imagery and music, combined.

I'll leave it alone babe...just be me
