Man, I cant imagine how horrifying it was for the daugther to go into her mothers mom and finding her dead. Just terrible.
Apparently the same thing happened when Michael died: his son Prince tried to wake him up and he didn't respond. I believe it was Prince anyway.
whaaaat??!! You mean the freakin doctor who administer the propofol wasn't the first to find him? what in the hell was he doing?? I mean really where was he, and how long was he gone?
what a fool! I hope they hank this joker's license to practice medicine. He should go to jail. HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. For real.

If I miss more let me know. Of that list, only two lived past aged 70 but 70 is still a young age to clock out IMHO.

Like I said in a few threads before, Smokey, Stevie, Diana, & Martha are outliving their label mates. Oh, I can't forget about Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong, & Jean Terrell.
Diana will probably be around in her 100s. I can't see her going anytime soon.
I cant believe this....MY GIRL!!!!! Its hard to even watch her perform on youtube right now...I listened to one song..and I cant listen to anymore right now....
Me too. One song is all I can manage right now.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Yeah he called for the doctor apparently. Then the doctor acted dumb of course.

Yeah, they said Prince was in the room and saw his dad dead. It's tragic for anyone to see their parent dead. It's terrible

I surely hope so! The last thing I need is Diana to suddenly leave this earth! Even with the criticism against her, she's a HUGE part of music history so I don't even wanna imagine that. Same with ReeRee. Give these legends 20-plus years. But you know as I say that, 20 years can come and go. Life is indeed short.
Here's one that doesn't get much recognition. But I like it.
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
In the midst of all of our grief, let us be glad that we had her. She set my musical world on fire several times over. Thank God for Lady T!!
Amen.
Like I said let's preserve her memory, which will live on and on. Like Janet said recently, spirits live on, bodies are just a cover of the spirit and once the body become a shell, the spirit is let free.
So jealous when johnart got his picture with her and when she tweeted paisleypark4.
I loved watching her be a judge on on Missy's talent show from around 2004.
She was just about to release an album. I love her voice.
I didn't believe this thread when I first saw it page one... I didn't want to. I was hoping Ron Isley's Twitter was a fake or something. Gosh, she will be missed.
Wow. I've never been a Teena Marie fan. In fact, I've always been very much a critic of hers. The voice just never did much for me.
I have to say, though, I really gain a certain respect for her reading the responses here and across the internet. I had no idea she had such a sizeable, loyal following. Good on her.
I don't know any of her songs, and when I told the master she died he was like "who??" maybe she was never big down here? I have been trying to listen to a few of these youtube clips people have been posting but I can't get into it, at ALL
You know her career was amazing when you think about it. Here was a girl brought up in a black neighborhood that fit in with them without even trying, then joined Motown, and spent four years in career development before fate brought her and a rising Rick James together. Then she rode the wave on her own after time to success. One of the first artists to mix the then-new genre of rap music into funk music and a deep songwriter. Plus she preservered. Least Teena got to see her daughter reach 18 before God called for her to return home. So in that essence Teena lived a full life.

At first they didn’t want to reveal she was white right?
I just heard. I'm in shock. She was Huge in Detroit, thanks to Mojo playing her music all the time back in the day. She could sing a phone boook and I would have bought it.
Yep and them both dying so young. I have to say Teena's death is probably all the most shocking for me because she was still touring and working on music. Hell, she was still putting out solid material during her later years. She made a gigantic comeback on the music world back in 2004 when she did the album La Dona and the bomb ever since that release was ticking off. She is definitely one of my musical heroes in the game. Producer, arranger, musician, songwritier...I mean she had the whole music world on lock because it was rare to see females back in the day doing that. Her move from Motown to Epic Records and the drama that surrounded it was just so powerful to me, as she fought for her artistic credibility and rights as an artist. WOW...she was just a marvel.
Lady T never got anywhere near the recognition that she deserved.

I keep thinking about her daughter...my heart goes out to her.
