My previous comment in short:

They're giving us information only on the source tracks in that statement.

We've been concerned about the finished product all along.

It's almost as if they're half admitting it lol

this really is past ridiculous. I don't ever trust "Experts" just because they say they are experts. Anyway, 30 years ago, I saw on tv that Rich Little, the great impersonator, was tested by a voice machine against the real voices, the voice machine could track things in the voice that don't change, the machine coudn't be fooled even when people could. With todays technology, it would be a snap to do, they should just do that and show the results.

Seems like they are simply buying time and trying to rush the CD for the Christmas. They know they're going to lose millions if it doesn't get out very soon. The only right thing to do would be to withdraw those Cascio tracks and reconsider them, but they're just worried about the Christmas sales.

Waveform analysis isn't really an "objective scientific method" for that matter. It refers to just some procedures performed by a trained professional on the computer, but it's far too subjetive in the end to be called an "objective scientific method". There doesn't exist at the moment any sort of a trustworthy method to discern between, say, an older keyboard instrument and its modern digital emulation (musicians should know what I'm talking about here). You'll just have to trust your ears, because the waveform data doesn't really tell us that much. I'd say trusting your ears in this instance is a more scientifically trustworthy method, but that's just me.

hmm, is that the only thing they have to do it with? I'm sure they have to have other stuff. There has to be a way definitively because this shit could just go on and on and Michael deserves better, no other reason.

There is something seriously shady going on. There has to be. How can all those people be saying it's Michael when it so clearly isn't? Porte isn't just singing backing vox - if he really is the other vocalist on the track, he's singing some leads as well and pretending to be Michael whilst doing so.

I still haven't received an email back from James Porte yet, I think he must be in hiding lol

Militant,

they are only speaking about the source tracks on the statement. Read the statement carefully, there's absolutely nothing about the professionals confirming the authenticity of the finished product there. Unfortunately, those individauls might be silenced with contracts so they cannot comment on it later on. We can't make too big conclusions based on the statement alone, but it does seem there is indeed something seriously shady going on.

Mozfunky,

you might be correct. They could use the same strategy later on as well, if it works this time around.

This makes me wonder what exactly is in the vault for them to even release these song. Are most of the material unfinished?

Don't just release any ol song because it's "recent"...

Could it be a lack of confidence in the other songs? Both songs are medicore at best. Why release them even if it is Michael (which it's not)? They're not strong song!

Why even take that chance when you have a long list of other recordings. Shit just doesn't make any sense to me! I'd assume they're better songs in Mike's vault than "Breaking News" and "Monster".

"The Estate then retained one of the best-known forensic musicologists in the nation to listen to the vocals without any instrumental accompaniment (“a cappella”), and to compare them with a cappella vocals from previous Michael songs."

I wonder which ones they compared then lol

This is some bullshit.

Thank you for posting that, Militant.

That chances some of my own speculations as well. However, the bottom line remains the same. No professionals have confirmed that the song "Breaking News" is authentic, at least not in the form it has been released to the public.

There are plenty of songs in Michael's vault that can be finsihed and released. But you raised a good point, I think for whatever reason there could be a lack of confidence in the other songs, maybe they feel it's not contemporary and commerically strong enough for the current market (which is BS to me)

Anyway thanks everyone for the recent posts, they make me feel a little better, because it's all very crazy.

Right!

FFS, just pull the Cascio tracks and replace them with some of Rodney's stuff. Job done.

Hmm, I hope Cory Rooney isn't lying due to getting agitated, because that cannot be used for evidence. That won't help at all. It's always possible that Teddy Riley is lying instead, but it seems like he admitted with one of those comments that he has been in it for the money. I've understood he isn't doing well financially.

Let me reiterate, they're giving official statements only on the original demos, because no one that hasn't been involved in it directly can comment on those. If they would ask for expert opinion on the finished tracks there's no way in hell too many experts would consider them being "definitely" by Michael Jackson.

To be fair to Teddy he said that he did the production work for free out of love for MJ
