90s R&B: Do you dig it? I don't know about yall, but I miss 90s R&B. I don't think that R&B is as good anymore. The men are mostly a joke, and the women are overrated.
Some eye/ear candy. Reminisce with me!

Toni Braxton - Unbreak My Heart
Babyface - When Can I See You
Brandy - Have You Ever?

95-98 were my high school years so I have a lot of fond memories of some of the big R & B hits of that era. Off the top of my head "I Believe I Can Fly," "Too Close" and "The Boy Is Mine" are a few.

Love it especially the early stuff... it was great. I think it went crap around the time of Destiny's Child arrival

looking at this era really makes you realise how dire the state of r&b is now Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

Hell yes, of course it started getting weaker in the later years like 98 and 99 but the first 7 years was tight. PRINCE: Always and Forever

one of the biggest difference between rnb back then and now is that singers actually could sing lol When the last time you heard somebody sing like this ????

I can somewhat agree with that. There were more groups out back then, and the videos were a lot better than now. You can call me "ROC" for short

The LAST male R&B group.... [img:$uid]http://images.uulyrics.com/cover/j/jodeci/album-diary-of-a-mad-band.jpg[/img:$uid]
Looking back, the only thing I find corny about 90s R&B was how everybody was overly "fake hardcore". It didn't matter; men, women,,,,everybody acted like their dicks were dragging on the ground. And those ugly ass plaid shirts, mah lawrd
But I loved the "dark/depression" vibe in that era though, I wasn't in the mood to hear no happy-go-lucky music at the time. Mary J's "My Life" album represents EVERYTHING I love about 90s R&B music. [Edited 7/18/10 8:44am]

I have to nitpick selective tracks when it comes to 1990's r&b. It's not always cut & dry like the 1970's OR 1980's.

1. No comment on your first point!
2. So basically, Boyz II Men, Az Yet, & All-4-One couldn't do anything for you back in those days? Interesting.

I think it was in that 1995 movie The Show, it had Biggie talking about how he didn't like women dressing like dudes, with big boots and baggy clothes. Definitely a symptom of the 90s fashion!

I dig it. I grew up with this!
TLC, Mary J Blige, Aaliyah, Toni Braxton, SWV, En Vogue, Tevin Campbell, R. Kelly, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Brandy, Monica, Zhane, Total, Boyz II Men, etc.

Is this the same Biggie that also did a hip-hop/r&b song with Total?!? Good grief, those girls used to dress so much like dudes that I though they were butch-up lesbians put together by Sean Combs personally.
Just saying. [Edited 7/18/10 9:44am]
