(ahem) AGAIN - Anybody mentioning that wackass group of talentless hoes known as the Spice Girls as R&B, should get an immediate 2 week ban and a mandatory screen name change. Is that clear enough now? lol wink

If that's how you want it, then Total & Destiny's Child should never be mention in this thread neither. Both of these rhythmless bullshit groups are worse than The Spice Girls.

Just saying. wink

daaamn how u gonna put Total out there like that. You really don't like them broads, do you lol

Extremely obscure, but I've mentioned her here over the years. Great talent! I

She wanted to do a Rock/Funk album but Atlantic wasn't having that.

I'm crystal clear.

I said that Roberta Kelly threw a fit because of Trey Songs when he himself copied Aaron.

And the "singing ability" bit to remind you that we're talking about "singing" not "careers/charts".

Can you elaborate on what R. Kelly said about Trey Songz?

This is basically my childhood... you know in Cyprus R&B wasn't that popular back then so me and my friends we had found that horribly bad dirty bar in the middle of nowhere which used to play most of those stuff... Actually I got kinda sentimental now remembering all that. Hard to believe I can't stand what is called R&B now

lol YOU don't even believe that!

CORRECTION: You are the one that do NOT want to believe that THIS black man finds the few r&b driven tracks by The Spice Girls more soulful than Total or Destiny's Child.

Keep in mind that I was born within the 1970's, NOT the mid to late 1980's like some orgers here that miss the 1990's so much that they can put up with OR even make excuse for below average tracks from the 1990's.

Therefore, when I say all of the tracks by Total & most of the tracks by Destiny's Child are "rhythmless bullshit" I meant it! Period. Point blank. End of.

As far as the Spice Girls go, I only can speak on where I'm from (Wesy Philly like the Fresh Prince BTW, LOL!), and the Spice Girls were classified as straight up Pop, they got no play on our R&B stations here, not even when the DJ's would come in and mix.

The only way you would hear a Spice Girls cut was if you tuned into our pop stations, who ran them to death.

Garfield(Shai) and Allen(Troop) were FOINE back in the day! woot!

Thanks for the memories folks!

The Spice Girls were definitely not R&B although Say You'll Be There, Spice Up Your Life and Viva Forever are better than anything Total ever did

I'll take Can't you See and No One Else over anything the Spice Girls did, but then again I'm more of an R&B/Hip Hop fan then Pop so maybe I'm biased lol!!

While most of this makes me nostalgic, little of it has actually held up or is still listenable to me today.
Though I can still dig some songs by Portrait, Intro, Lo Key, and yeah Jon B.

I wouldn't call them R&B but 'Holler' was clearly an R&B song. 'Say You'll Be There' was R&B-influenced pop/dance

95-98 were my high school years so I have a lot of fond memories of some of the big R & B hits of that era. Off the top of my head "I Believe I Can Fly," "Too Close" and "The Boy Is Mine" are a few.

nod Exactly. 96-00 were my high school years and most important my middle school years 93-96 featured some great 90's R&B. I will forever have fond memories that pop up in my brain whenever I hear 90's R&B. This is the last decade of R&B that featured an abundance of artists that possessed true talent. Brownstone, SWV, EnVogue, Jodeci, K-Ci & JoJo, Jagged Edge, Next, Dru Hill, Jon B., Vanessa Williams, Total, Lisa Fischer, Zhan'e, Tony Toni Tone, Mark Morrison, Usher (back before his music turned to shit), Jade, etc. I could go on and on.

And the videos were so exciting and vibrant back then.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
