Now maybe people can stop mentioning him like he's new. He's always lumped in with dudes like Omarion when in truth, a lot of those kids are influenced by Usher, who is influenced by MJ & Bobby Brown.

Aint nothin but the truth. Usher has been around for a long time and has been very consistently successful. All these guys (Omarion & Chris Brown) r tryna replace him, he shouldnt be compared to them. nod

Usher, Michael Jackson isn't a musical genre. 3 decades of ripping off a real legend shouldn't count for much, but apparently in this day and age it does.

No offence, he's got loads of great standard talent,..but no way on earth does USHER belong in such an esteemed list in any way shape or form!
This must be one of the signs of the apocolypse! eek

Oh yes he is. Thanks to dudes like Usher. lol

For the past "3 decades" we've had the genres of R&B, Pop, Soul, Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop, Rap, Rock, Country, Heavy Metal, and Michael Jackson. I just love it. smile

I don't know if you've seen Usher live but Usher is a better performer than Whitney, Madonna and Mariah combined. I said PERFORMER, NOT SINGER. His career has been singles-based and this chart is just a numbers reflection.
You can't deny dude of his chart success. I agree that in some ways he's not "exceptional" but the same can be said for Madonna as a singer, and Mariah and Whitney as dancers. They each have their own niche. In my book, Usher failed to be as good as he could have potentially been by not focusing on originality enough, but this list is not about that. Its about chart success, which means people buy Usher CDs. Given that understanding, Usher is right where he should be.

falloff

Usher is NOT an MJ clone. He has way more sex appeal, is way less pop/rock, more street styled, and doesn't lipsynch in concert.

Whomever he is inspired by, Usher is his own artist, he has all the love and respect for MJ, and has given him all the credit and praise in the world. Why does it make u mad that he is so successful? MJ did his James Brown impersonations, Usher can do whateva da fuck he wants, so please STFU and move on wit ur life.

Because those were the some of the other artists from the list.
The comment was about Usher not belonging in the company of them.
My response was in the context of that comment.

lol

Still, it doesn't make sense to compare a male to a female artist.

But thanks for the comment anyway.nod

I think his only classic album is 8701. Its an amazing album, I love ALL the tracks. This new album is probably my next favorite after 8701.

I only saw him once, 2 years ago. It was a smaller venue, so it was way more intimate. I was so impressed. He didn't dance as much as I expected, but he sang EVERYTHING live, so much energy, his cahrisma really shone through, and he had the best connection. Classy show. He sang all the hits and EVERYONE knew the words. He played piano!!!! biggrin . It was like all women in the audience. lol I did not expect him to be so amazing, and I'm happy I saw him in a small venue because it was up close and personal. biggrin

WHY?!?!

U have said this before and it makes no sense at all.

Talent knows no gender. Anyone can be a better singer/songwriter/performer than anhyone, regardless of gender. Goodness. rolleyes

8701 was a good album. Confessions, I felt was his best. For whatever reason, he completely fell off with 'Here I Stand.' I'm still mad I actually paid money for that shit. RVR is just, meh.
