I fully suspect that if Jimmy Carter or George H.W. Bush were to die this week, Michael Jackson's death would be pushed to the entertainment pages of all the newspapers, as it should be.

You wanna bet? It's odd you say that but admit Michael was real famous at the same time. So it depends, is it worth it to talk about a singer-songwriter/entertainer (because even with his universal appeal, that's all he was) or a president?

well, Ford knocked James Brown's death into perspective for the media just a day later, but you're right.... in 2009, we may be too far gone.

Or Ray Charles.

See this is what pisses me off. To me I see James and Ray as the key figures of the revolution of global pop music. This revisionism they're doing with MJ in almost overlooking them is silly. Hell even the BET Awards probably didn't give them the send-off they're trying to give MJ (though they did try with James but it just seemed "there").

And I don't wanna hear "but Michael transcend..." I think MJ himself will be pissed of all the extra attention he's giving now when James and Ray never got that official send-off. You saw how in 2004 Reagan was more talked about on the news than Ray and James got a few media tributes. So the hypocritical nature of the MJ tributes has me on the edge.

I hear what you saying Timmy but, here is the thing. While James and Ray were just as or even more important than MJ, because they paved the way for him, allot of the younger generation cannot relate to them as they would to MJ. Michael, was this generation's, James. The way he danced, the way he expressed himself in song as well as his crazy antics. What pisses me off is those were always cracking on him, in the media and even on this board, are all of the sudden acting like he meant something to them. To me, that's an even bigger shame.

What is up with people hearing "Morphine" for the first time? Y'all need to pick up Blood on the Dance Floor (whenever they eventually restock it, of course). There's some great stuff on there: the title track, "Ghosts," "Is It Scary," etc.

I have never heard it before. I ordered all of the CD's that I did'nt have last night off of the Target website including this one.

But see that's my anger at the media. OK, I admit I may have pushed it a bit but I'm just fucking pissed at how all of a sudden the media is kissing his ass when just a week ago they kept plotting his demise! Now they wanna give him tributes. They can all fuck off. flipped off

I'm listening to James' "Funky Drummer" right now. music So I'm not gonna let their hypocritical attitudes disturb my spirit. biggrin

Hey, I agree with you brah!! I cannot stand how stations like CNN are saying, "He was genius", on the one hand and then say, "but.... let's not forget those child molestation accusations... on the other. I never heard them mention Ray's drug addiction that much when he died or James' cross state police chase.

It's rediculous that they would think that Obama is obligated to comment. Michael Jackson is an entertainer and Obama is a politician. They are in completely different fields. I realize that Michael Jackson is the biggest entertainer in history who happens to be black and Obama is the first black president, but did anyone ever pressure George Bush to make a statement every time an entertainer died? There's a double standard here.

Thank you! I just read something earlier this morning that pissed me off, a Guardian article that dared call MJ "the Obama of pop music". I feel like cracking some mothafuckin' skulls much worse than when Martha Reeves said Obama reminded her of Marvin! falloff

Good lord, who cares already. I am so tired of hearing about Obama in this thread. I don't care what he did or didn't say about Michael. Makes no difference to me personally. I don't need anyone, president or not, to validate my feelings about MJ so I really couldn't care less.

@that pic of MJ with the red shirt. LMAO. He was the best.

Attorney: Doctor found Jackson in bed with pulse
By ANTHONY McCARTNEY, AP Entertainment Writer Anthony Mccartney, Ap Entertainment Writer 1 min ago

LOS ANGELES – A lawyer for the doctor who was with Michael Jackson when he died says the physician found the entertainer in his bed with a faint pulse.

Houston attorney Edward Chernoff says in an interview Sunday with The Associated Press that Dr. Conrad Murray went into Jackson's bedroom and saw that he wasn't breathing.

Chernoff says Jackson was still warm and had a faint pulse and that the doctor immediately began administering CPR.

Chernoff says Murray suggested to Jackson's family that an autopsy be performed. He adds that the doctor did not prescribe or give Jackson the drugs Demerol or Oxycontin. The lawyer says any drugs Murray prescribed were given in response to a specific complaint from the 50-year-old entertainer.

+++++

I read on MediaTakeOut (I know, I know) that this doc is NOT certified as a cardiologist or anything else. There's some shady shit going on. How can you treat one of the most famous people in the world & NOT be on your game? Doesn't he realize that mf's will line up to do him in?? The CPR on the bed is enough for me, the doc is shady as fuck...
