Good lord, who cares already. I am so tired of hearing about Obama in this thread. I don't care what he did or didn't say about Michael. Makes no difference to me personally. I don't need anyone, president or not, to validate my feelings about MJ so I really couldn't care less.

@that pic of MJ with the red shirt. LMAO. He was the best.

Obama offered his feelings/thoughts in handwritten letter sent to he Jackson family. He wanted to give a private statement. David Axlerod said so on today's edition of Meet The Press on NBC.

Well, it's an analogy, so it's not like it has to be perfect. The funny part is that, in many ways, I think the comparison is unfair to MJ. His meteoric rise to prominence was much faster than President Obama's and he obviously has a much longer record of relevance in his field. And no, I'm not comparing the importance of their fields.

Michael Jackson addicted to painkillers, received shot of Demerol before he died: ABC News

at 17:53 on June 26, 2009, EDT.
By THE CANADIAN PRESS

LOS ANGELES - ABC News is quoting a Los Angeles police source as saying Michael Jackson was addicted to painkillers, and was given an injection of Demoral one hour before he died.

A law enforcement official briefed on the pop star's death tells ABC that Jackson was heavily addicted to the painkiller OxyContin and received daily doses of the drug as well as Demerol.

Investigators want to talk to Jackson's personal physician who was with him when paramedics arrived, though they say he's not a suspect. His car was towed from Jackson's rented home.

Jackson died Thursday at the UCLA Medical Center. His brother Jermaine says it's believed he had a cardiac arrest.

An autopsy was done on Jackson on Friday, but it would be weeks before toxicology tests are completed.

After Jackson was acquitted on child molestation charges in 2005, prosecutors argued against returning to Jackson items including syringes, the drug Demerol and prescriptions for various drugs, mainly antibiotics, in different people's names.

Yup...and the spookiest thing is that there's a song about the exact thing that happened 2 him sad

...
Trust in me
Just in me
Put all your trust in me
You're doin' morphine

Go'on babe

Relax
This won't hurt you
Before I put it in
Close your eyes and count to ten

Don't cry
I won't convert you
There's no need to dismay
Close your eyes and drift away

Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking Demerol

Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking Demerol

He's tried
Hard to convince her
To be over what he had
Today he wants it twice as bad

Don't cry
I won't resent you
Yesterday you had his trust
Today he's taking twice as much

Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking Demerol

Hee-hee-hee

Demerol
Demerol
Oh my Oh God it's Demerol

Remember when they called MJ "the Jackie Robinson of MTV"?

that one is more understandable and forgivable, or at least not as steeped in hysteria, since they're both from the world of entertainment, even if the timeline kind of negates it.

Yeah, technically they were celebrities though Jackie was sports and Michael was music. But Obama, that's pushing it. Besides MJ and Ali are still more internationally renowned.

I was listening to Coast To Coast AM last night, and among other odd interviews (including with Howard Bloom - actually the only decent thing about it - and one with a guy who met Michael and included him in his book about aliens and rock stars, ummm)... there was a guy on there that was supposedly channeling MJ's spirit.

It was disgusting, really.

I feel like doing another blog post about this but I'm not sure what to write next, maybe after watching "Unsung", I could try to write something about all of this. I just hope this blog doesn't upset anyone, it's not hating on Michael but my blog will probably be a matter-of-fact response to all this coverage on him and what his impact his life - if any - really had on me. typing

why was Paul McCartney calling Mike a "massively talented boy man with a gentle soul" - I mean wtf, "boy man"?!?! - is he trying to have a hidden dig in his tribute? ...It just feels a bit negative - the term "boy man" is not an accepted one, and is also not obviously positive, and is far less obvious to use than simply "man".

Are there any orgers from Detroit that are going to the candlelight vigil tonight at the Motown Museum?
My 16 year old daughter asked if we could go there for the vigil, so of course I said yes. She and my 14 year old son took the news of his death really hard.

I live in the Detroit area. I would love to go down to the Motown Museum tonight but Id rather watch the BET Awards LIVE. There will be masses of people there and parking might be difficult. Im sure some of it will be on the late news tonight, they may even break into programming.

For all of you that dont know, Michael Jackson holds a very very special place in the hearts of Detroiters. We consider him and his family our own. Its always been that way.

I just came from the Museum. I wasn't there during the "official" vigil, but it was still just awesome. Somber and celebratory at the same time. I even shed a few tears. And, of course, they're blasting ALL the J5 and MJ tunes.

nod And, although I agree that it sounds bad, I think the intention is entirely appropriate. I think most (if not all) of us can agree that Michael often seemed like a boy in a man's body, still looking for that lost childhood. I wonder why I never made the connection to Captain Marvel. Shazam! lol

Oh, you noticed that too, eh? I was like wtf!!!

Yeah, that 'lil dig stood out to me too. Guess that whole Beatles catalog drama still stings. However, Bob Geldof's comment aggravated me..

I remember when I presented him with an award at the Brits in London and I was reading the script and I just couldn't get through all the encomiums so I stopped. And then he performed "Earth Song" and Jarvis Cocker got up and did his thing. Michael didn't understand why people had been laughing. He rang me at 3 in the morning to ask about it. I just told him "go to bed, don't worry." Earth Song was a little hubristic, but it was still a cool song. He was a pop singer; he hadn't invented penicillin. But what do you expect when you have a kid who never went to school and then he's thrust into this mad existence. My favorite track is "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", but the most important is "We Are the World." I was never that crazy about the song, but at the time most Americans didn't know where Africa was. I don't think Michael understood the issues, the politics and economics; it didn't interest him, but when he was asked to help, he did.

So, "Saint" Bob thinks he saved the black folk in Africa, but Michael was a pop singer who "hadn't invented penicillin"? Dick. Don't get me wrong - I don't think MJ was someone who could walk on water, but he was just as much of a philanthropist as Geldof - maybe even moreso.

Reports said fans had seen Joe outside Mike's home and he was laughing and carrying on. They thought it was uncharacteristic for Joe to laugh while his son's estate is in tatters. Some even blame Joe for how Mike turned out.
