Oh shit...

I don't blame them being pissed. People have their trips all planned, like a WHILE ago. I mean they come from all over the world hotels booked and everything. Even if there won't be any cancellations at all but just the moving of the dates it's ridiculous. How will it work out with refunding the costs and etc? There are those that only have had their dates moveed by "only" a few days, and then you have those with their date moved by months. I'm glad I didn't plan on attending any. I have always been a fan of Michael as Timmy can back up but I understand the frustration. I'm curious to see what happens from here on.

Yeah it should be very interesting and I can understand the frustration too.

Let's get MORE real. When was Mj's last new release?

Invincible. 2001. That doesn't say he's been retired.

Let's see there's that whole lack of promotion thing he ranted about, made a video where his face didn't move, released a couple more videos that he didn't even appear in. He basically sabotaged his own work and people balked at the whole thing, especially him calling Tommy Motolla "the devil".

Then he gets sued in a way-too-long trial by some woman and her son. He wins, and takes off for a probably well-deserved break.

He's been a bit busy to release a new album through recent years. But just because he's NOT released something (even if the trail wasn't an issue), doesn't balk of retirement.

If that were true, the same could have been said about Whitney Houston. Her last studio album was 2003. Her last album of all new material was 2001, as well like Mike. She's rumored to have an album this year, as well, much like MJ has in recent months (before the 02 announcement). Is she retired? Or is she just living her life...like Mike, doing what she wants until she's ready to make music again?

George Michael went six years between Listen Without Prejudice and Older, and five years between a cover album and Patience (2004). No one ever said he was retiring during that time. And even after he said he was retiring from studio records, he still mounted a HUGE massive, ground breaking, technologically advanced tour, and a 3 disk hits set with a slew of new music on it, and double DVD to boot.

I think as Prince fans, we're spoiled with an album every 12 or 15 months. Roughly one a year. Prince went three years between TRC and Musicology. Did people scream retirement then? There were three years between official PRINCE albums Emancipation and Rave. (the sidenotes being a compilation and the third NPG album)..

Come on, let's be real about it.

The time between Thriller (82) and Bad (87) and Dangerous (92) was all on average, 5 years (the shortest being 4 years between Dangerous and History, and the longest being 6 years between History and Invincible). No one ever shouted "he's retiring!" during any of that. Unless it's some irresponsible person trying to raise an eyebrow for the sake of it.

He did work for the 25th Anniversary edition of Thriller, and has been in the media in the past year shown to have been working on music with will.i.am and others for a new record. And then there's this whole pesky 50 shows thing, which doesn't really balk of someone retired.

It's not that he's retired, it's just that he's as bad as Prince on following through with things. It's like a batter hitting a ball, and stopping the bat as soon as it makes contact with the ball. They're both missing the ability to SWING that bat 270 degrees.

right, i think we need to realize that michael and prince are not 25 anymore, they are 50...probably not as enthusiastic about their career/work anymore.

Yeah, that's possible nod I just wished I had seen him in concert many years ago neutral

I almost want to lay odds that he won't even fulfill HALF of those planned shows. Not even close. maybe 10 or 15. 20 if he's got a fresh pair of baggies.

Are u comparing Prince's output 2 Mj's in any way?
9 years and counting for Mj.
2 months and counting 4 Prince.

You cut out 90% of my reply. Your comment is a moot point that way. I was making a vast array of examples. And yes, I was comparing outputs by Prince, MJ, Whitney, George Michael, etc.

I wish so too but I was too young. I wish I would been alive to seen his career from the beginning(jackson 5). It just pains me sometimes to see what he's been though...even though he brought a lot of it on his self. I think we forget, especially in america how we put our celebrities on pedestals instead of realizing that they are human just like us and make mistakes.

Sorry hun, but MJ is decidedly worse than Prince when it comes to this type o' shit. At least you can count on new music and some live performances from P on an almost yearly basis. The execution may not be the best but he gets it done. P's O2 shows went off without a hitch. So, nah, I'ma give the perpetually fucking up title to MJ. I still love him tho. lol

Imagine how much people have paid for opening night tickets from Ebay/ticket agencies to find that they've been re-scheduled to 2010 ..... if Jackson is still playing gigs in 2010 I'd be shocked ...

Well, the first show is still the first show... just five days later... tickets for the 8th will be valid for the 13th... that said, it still sucks and is annoying!

Oh well... she's not beyond that... on the Drowned world tour they had to cancel the first couple of shows in germany (or was it spain?), because they didn't get their shit ready in time!

I thank the Lord I saw Michael years ago, when he was truely a great artist. First time Madison Square Gardens in the early 80s with his brothers-The Truimph tour. It was brilliant, better even than the Bad tour that I saw some years later in the late 80s.

I wouldn't pay a dollar to see him now, because you are guaranteen to get the mess that is already happening and quite frankly he ain't a patch on his former self, he will be doing more miming than singing.

Dude is a FAN. lol He's been supporting Mike. But like me in a sense he prefers the OTHER Motown legend. Like I prefer Marvin, he prefers Stevie but he is a MJ fan. He got banned from MJJF (or he left) because he didn't like some of the people's attitudes over him about what he said over there. Just because you're a fan don't mean you have to like about everything someone does, lol.

Probably older than you. With the Truimph tour was pretty young, but not too young. During the Bad tour I was well into the latter part of my teens.

Agreed but that's with a lot of celebrities, not just mj fans. I've seen SOME madonna fans defend her with everything plus SOME of them act like she is the second coming same with eminem and britney spears. America is too obessed with pop culture...these people are human not perfect stop treating them as such.
