dancing jig music whip

it's great woot!

I like the album alot.It won't become one of my Top 5 Madonna albums and it's certainly not up there with her best albums ('Ray Of Light,'Like A Prayer',Confessions','Erotica') but it's just alot of mindless fun.I needed a "fun" album right now,to take me into the summer.

exactly. i've been listening to so much "depressing" music lately,
like radiohead, portishead, sufjan stevens, beck and bjork and it
was about time something real fun came along.

and indeed it does sound like a nice soundtrack to this summer nod

you consider sufjan, beck, and bjork to be depressing? eek suffie and beck make me smile so much! though i suppose you could be listening to sea change and that's a different story.

I haven't checked this out myself yet and maybe someone has already posted (I haven't been keeping up with this thread) but it looks like you can hear the whole thing right now over on MySpace:

Madonna Does MySpace Erik Pedersen
Fri Apr 25, 3:43 AM ET

Los Angeles (E! Online) - There's free Candy on MySpace!

Don't worry—we're not running a sting for Dateline: To Catch a Predator.

Four days before its official release, Madonna's new album, Hard Candy, is premiering on MySpace. The site offers a selection of the dance diva's new tracks, which feature contributions from Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, and Pharrell Williams.

Plus, fans will get the chance to deliver those all-important words to Madonna herself:

Thanks for the add.

That's what I was thinking. Bjork can be really intense and emotional and soul searching, but I don't find her depressing in the least.

I wanted to show this using my new org name "Matronik", but I still have to wait 2 to 3 more days! neutral

Here's MikeMatronik's M-dolla folder. I actually own the physical releases of 60% of this.

It took me 3 weeks to put this nice and tidy.

It's not as awful as I thought it would be, but I definitely don't like this album nearly as much as most Madonna albums. 2.5 stars on first listen.

stick with it, Ian. I felt the same way at first. but once you get past the inane lyrics, the uninspired vocal performances and the pandering production, it really is a grower. a big one biggrin

Hello all

I very rarely post here but have been a Madonna fan since the start. Fav albums are...

The first album, Like a Virgin, Confessions, True Blue, Ray of Light,

Anyway after months of speculation and wondering if this would be one of my least fav albums I think it may end up being one of my most fav ones.

I prefer the Pharrel stuff to the Timberland stuff - although most of the cringe moments for me are in the Pharrel stuff. Not sure Madonna pulls it ALL off - although what works for me works REALLY REALLY well.

Also been a Janet Fan since What have you done for me lately. Liked some of discipline but not all of it - although I have only listened to it twice so far.

Back to Madonna - me likes it!

Lisa

Let's see. The following didn't make me cringe:

Give It to Me
Heartbeat
She's Not Me
Beat Goes On (surprisingly enough, given the leaked version)
Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
Voices

"Get stupid... get stupid" doesn't make you cringe? biggrin

anyway, I really am loving this album. it's fun, it's upbeat, it's silly, etc. basically, it's everything that Confessions was purported to be before it was released. and yeah, it lives up to all of that, good and bad, but it's a nice, lightweight dancetravaganza, and I'm loving it. woot!
I don't want this to end

I didn't say I liked it! I said it didn't make me cringe. Maybe my expectations were so low by that point that I just let it slide. evillol

Seriously, though, there are lots of duds on here to my ears!

"Give It 2 Me" makes me cringe; "Give It 2 Me"'s production (my main focus, especially for a project with big name producers) is corny to me.
