I still think it was the right choice for the first single. It'll never be one of my favorite Madonna songs, but it is definitely "hit" material. From a commercial standpoint,it's a wise choice. It's doing exactly what a first single should do.

Yeah I agree. I think in a few years time i wont even consider this a Madonna song. Its pretty much a blatantly contrived marketing ploy to ensure the 1st single is a hit and has media radio / coverage. I think its got really strong elements to it - more madonna would be beneficial - but its kind of deceptive in terms of raising expectations about the album.

Alot of fans heard that song and predicted that the album would be terrible lol These fans are now going crazy over the other songs. It's interesing that, for all this talk of Madonna doing hip-hop,"4 Minutes" is really the only song with any kind of urban/hip-hop feel.Everything else leans more on the pop/dance side of things.

Hey this is about the same way I feel right now.

"Voices" bores me bored

I give the album a B+,but if she had replaced "Voices" and "Spanish Lesson" with two better songs,it would have gotten an A from me lol

I can´t believe you don´t like voices and worst of all you
are putting it in the same shitty category as spanish crap mad

give voices another chance, will you!! mad

Some of my friends who are casual madonna fans (and mostly gay) still cant get over the style of music on this album. They wish she hadn't strayed away from the typical 4/4 dance music shes done for a large portion of her career. I could understand why people didnt like American Life - it wasnt an obvious record, but i just cant understand how self proclaimed lovers of pop music can dislike a song like Hearbeat or Shes Not Me. These people need their heads testing.

Jeez, it's not THAT much of a stretch. confused

And I reckon "Heartbeat" reminds me of Kylie... just tell them that.

Well, i just tell them to go and listen to X if they dont like it. At the end of the day its still dance pop. If you cant dance to some of the stuff on this record you shouldn't be on a dance floor.

Actually the intro to heartbeat does remind me a bit of 'The One' intro.

I have to say that I am one of the people who was thinking that I was going to hate this CD just based off of 4 Minutes and the whole Hip-Hop thing with her working with Timbaland and Pharell but I must say, the songs that I've heard, I'm really enjoying and loving. I may have issues with Madonna herself but I will NEVER deny good music and from what I've heard, this is some really good music. Humble Pie never tasted so good or in this case, Hard Candy. lol
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Definitely. It's very funk/disco-y in places, feel like I need a pair of of rollerskates (countdown to a tantrum from one of the org's funkheads..1,2,3). I don't even really like most disco, but this has just enough updated punch to it that I somehow love it.

What's kind of sad is that while I see it pop up on the Sirius Top 40 station...they list it has Justin TImberlake/Madonna....the dance station which plays it and other Madonna songs all the time of course doesn't. Shame on the ageism!

interesting that "The Beat Goes On" is the other song listed on the sticker. I wonder if that's because there are plans for it or if it's because it's got a high profile cameo?

I just dl'd it and I think it's like the rest of the album for me. A grower. And it's got a couple of days to catch up to the rest, I think. Not much happens in it, but it's pleasant enough. shrug

Okay,I just listened to "Ring My Bell" a few times. It's alright, nothing special. It probably was a good idea to leave it off the album and release it as a bonus track only.Who knows? Maybe in a few days,I'll like it even more. It's a grower.

Hey,

finally it is released in germany today, and of course I bought it. I have yet to listen to it. I've listened to Ring My Bell I think it's a good b-side, better than Cyberraga and History, I'd say! (though History is of course better than Cyberraga ^^)

btw, I dislike her love for using famous songs's title like Rain, Music and Ring My Bell. There were others as well...

I'm trying to be good- so many of my friends have sent it to me and I've had to delete it- I'm old school sad in that I love the excitement of going into HMV and seeing it on the shelf, taking it home, making a cuppa and playing it really loud for the first time and hearing it coming through proper speakers on a decent system while I look at the packaging...I know how sad I am, but I've done this with Madonna since 1983 and it keeps me sane I suppose...so no- I haven't stuck my stick into the sherbet dip yet...not until Madonna Monday!

Have you?

Wow,Steve,I wish I had the power to resist these early downloads! lol I downloaded the album last week.I couldn't resist. It's okay though...I'm still excited for Tuesday April 29.There's nothing like hearing the "official" copy, played loud on a good system and in the car.So far,I've only listened to the album on my computer.

But you're a good boy.Madonna would be really impressed with you lol
