they both look very good in it. and the ideas in the video are
fine enough.

however, the execution of them and the editing are horrendous lol

the anatomy bits could have been featured more/differently. as
is, the video felt like it has a dozen themes and none of them
really come alive.

having said that, who cares about a theme when the guys have
madonna to look at and well, the guys have justin to look at

biggrin

I agree completely. It looks gorgeous and there are a lot of interesting things going on, but none of it is given enough time or attention to go anywhere.

I like it well enough though. It *looks* awesome at the very least. And I actually kind of liked the song a little more because of it.

Wow! That was great. But I don't see the whole 'superhero' concept. And I don't get the point of the lyrics either. But who cares, that was fun. This song is going to sound amazing live. I would not be surprised if she has a frigging marching band on the road. She's so fucking bad ass...love her. eek eek eek

I like it lol clapping

She looks great, the dancing is cool, and there are some interesting special effects throughout. The only thing is....the video should have been longer.I know they tried to keep it at four minutes (duh),but with more time I think they could have explained/expanded the concept a little more.It all goes by so fast.

Based on the clip that we heard,I know that this song will become a fan favorite.I absolutely love what I heard so far love It's a beautiful song.Very somber melody and heartbreaking lyrics. This is one of the Timbaland tracks, but it's pure Madonna....I don't hear much of a hip-hop influence at all. It's reminscent of her recent, acoustic guitar-driven midtempo songs ("Love Profusion" comes to mind),but I think it's superior to those songs. This has got to become a future single!!

after the description above, I think I'm actually a little bit afraid to hear the lyrics to this one sad

No need to be afraid, the lyrics are pretty good lol here's a sample:

(chorus)
You'll always love me more
Miles Away
I hear it in your voice when you're
Miles Away
You're not afraid to tell me
Miles Away
I guess we're at our best when we're
Miles Away

so far away....so far away
so far away...so far away
(repeat)

I just woke up from a fuzzy dream
You never would believe the things that I have seen
I looked in the mirror and I saw your face
You looked right through me
you were miles away
All my dreams they fade away
I'll never be the same
If you could see me the way you see yourself
pretend to be someone else

repeat chorus

At another point in the song,Madonna sings "You always seem to have the biggest heart when we're 6,000 miles apart".

hmmm it's a sad song.If this song is personal,Madonna sounds as if she's resigned to the fact that her marriage only works when she and Guy are in other parts of the world.

People magazine review of the "4 minutes" video

If dancing can save the world, then Madonna and Justin Timberlake may as well be superheroes: The two join forces in the feisty, special effects-laden video for Madonna's latest single "4 Minutes".As a giant clock offers an ominous four-minute countdown, the two cavort on cars, down a grocery checkout counter and even in a bedroom as a giant prism-like effect encroaches. The singers trade verses,dance-moves and even faux kisses in the clip.Things get hotter as time continues to fly-and they even share a small striptease and a liplock.Just call it sexy sci-fi! There's a cameo from Timbaland, who also appears on the song.Bottom line: We're not exactly sure what they're battling-but never has the apocalypse seemed hipper.

MTV article: "4 Minutes" Video

Madonna's 11th studio LP,Hard Candy,is still several weeks away from commercial release, but fans got their first look at the pop icon's new video Thursday morning....

In the video,Madonna, looking better than she has in years, gyrates in front of a huge digital clock, sporting a cream corset, glistening black boots and her trademark platinum-blond locks.Justin Timberlake, wearing a largely denim outfit and a scarf wrapped around his neck, also struts his stuff in the clip.

The video was filmed in London nearly two months ago and was directed by French wunderkinds Jonas and Francois. The track, which was originally titled "4 Minutes To Save The World",is a hard-hitting club gem, with an underlying hip-hop beat.In a press release,Madonna had this to say about the clip: "Goody goody gum drops".

Last month, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Timberlake, along with the likes of the Dave Clark Five,Leonard Cohen and John Mellencamp.

This week, both Madonna and Mariah Carey shot past Elvis Presley in the Billboard record book.Presley is no longer the solo artist with the most top 10 hits in rock and roll history,as "4 Minutes" marked Madonna's 37th song in the top 10.

I predict there will be four singles from this album. To make it fair, they will release two Timbaland tracks, and two Pharrel tracks. Here's my prediction on what the singles will be...

"4 Minutes" (a Timbaland production)
"Give It To Me" (a Pharrell production)
"Miles Away" (a Timbaland production)
"She's Not Me" (a Pharrell production)

lol

do you really think there will be a full 4 singles from this album? I'm guessing only 3, with maybe a 4th only sent to clubs with remixes, since it's her last WB album and there's a compilation on the way at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. plus that's probably where the supposedly "hot" outtakes from this project that we've heard about will show up, as singles from the GH.

hmmm yeah, you're probably right. They may just release three singles and then send one of the songs to clubs with remixes. The compilation will be released at the end of the year,so they'll probably be more focused on that.

Imago

Talk about style over substance. And tired and pointless style at that.

1. There's absolutely no chemistry between Madonna and Justin.

2. The vocals suck.--I mean, once again, Madonna's drowning out any "umph" she could have given the song by relying on production and tricks.

3. The song is about as forgettable as the worst songs from Prince's 'plastic years'

4. Although I like a lot of Madonna's songs, I never understood people adoring the crap out of her--unless of it's their appreciation of her tenacity and support of the gay community?

5. She looks fuckable, but they must have spent hours softening her skin in the film lab. lol

While we're all waiting to see 4 minutes, the first video off "Hard Candy", that still has to premiere, Madonna is not wasting time.
Being quite happy with the results of her Elle amazing photoshoot by Tom Munro, the two of them have become quite good friends and Madonna has asked Tom to direct the video for the second single, Give It 2 Me.
There are reports they have actually started shooting the video in the UK, today!
And an additional unknown director will be needed to add graphics and other effects that will complete the video.
Cool!

hmmm I can't wait til she makes a video for "Miles Away".I have alot of interesting ideas for that one....maybe I should contact Maddy? lol

The video's better than usual, but I wince everytime that voice of hers comes in. It sounds so bad. And just as I thought, she sings "The road to HELL is paved with good intentions", not HEAVEN. wink

Overall, the whole thing embodies commercialism at it's most cynical. In that sense it's perfect Madonna.

My God that was a great f*cking video! Much, much better than what I expected it 2 b! And it's one of those videos that makes a lame song (that's my first impression when I first heard the song) sound great! Excellent visual effects and loving the choreography and chemistry between Madonna and Justin, and I'm glad Timbaland was at a minimum on this one! I never thought Madonna, at almost 50, can pull it with Justin and not looking awkward at all! I love it!!! I can't wait 2 transfer this vid on my iPhone and have it on non-stop replay! smile

what are you supposed to do at 50 if you are woman?

Men at 60 or more are still leading guys in Hollywood scoring roles opposite women half or a third of their age.

Whoo i like the video a lot..the editing & scenography r great..a bit comic book like..I also love how they captured the motion by constantly changing the way the camera moves..left to right, front to back, back to front etc.. 'till
the very end where we c timberfake & vadge disintegrate from both sides..
It captures the 'urgency' of the song.

The song is still shit though. cool

Personally, I love the fact that she’s 50. I know 35 year olds that don’t have the mobility, stamina or mindset to do half the stuff she does. Maybe one day we’ll stop limiting people—especially women—by their age.
