X17 has uncovered the truth behind Brit's less than energetic performance tonight.
A source tells X17 Brit found out about Sarah Silverman's crappy line about Britney's babies just moments before she took the stage to perform "Gimme More." Needless to say, Britney was PISSED! ... as any mom would be. Britney was so upset she walked through her performance just to get it over with (despite encouragement from her friends, including Sam who was apparently yelling at Sarah backstage) to skip out on it all together). She held up her end of the bargain and got a major slap in the face from Sarah.

Britney threatened to ditch her VMA performance just minutes before she took the stage. Want to know why? Britney overheard Sarah Silverman rehearsing her monologue in which she calls Britney's babies mistakes and takes jab after jab at Britney.
Britney made it very clear with MTV that Sarah was NOT allowed to talk about her kids, and MTV agreed. That big-mouthed bitch said it anyway.
Sam Lufti was overheard backstage screaming at Sarah Silverman because of her outrageous remarks saying: "Sarah Silverman is a seriously unprofessional person to make fun of infants to get a laugh. Making fun of kids is not condonable," and that "she should have picked on someone her own size."

While I am with Britney about making fun of her kids, cause that was wrong, Britney had no excuse to put on a lackluster show. I mean if I were in that position, I'd use Sarah's words as inspiration to show everyone what time it really is. Unfortunately, a lot of people are not like that and Brit is one of those people. It's sad all the way around.

Well the thing is Britney really did the right thing, because she exposed MTV for this. I think if Britney was very smart in her next interview she would Blast MTV and Sarah Silverman, because honestly Britney could crush Sarah Silverman at this point with that whole, "you called my kids a mistake" and expose MTV for letting that behaviour roll. I think Britney is in a good position right now and she should really use it to her advantage.

Live by the pork sword, die by the pork sword. Nobody gives a shit if Tori Amos or PJ Harvey gains ten pounds. Her entire career has been built around her identity as a turn-on, taking full advantage of the sexual paradigms around her. She didn't make this world, but she chose to inhabit it and milk it. R U Serious! I think Sarah Silverman is a BITCH for saying what she did about Brits kids...but Britney had far more to loose than Sarah ever did!

With all the crap Britney's been through over the last couple of years, she could have shut a lot of people up if she was able to pull herself together and prepared and delivered a flawless performance! Britney didn't even come close!

I've heard this and don't doubt it. I believe she is that disturbed. If that's true, she screwed herself. She frankly should've given an awesome performances, kicked Sarah in the face, and then said "I'm going to do another song!".

It used to be an Internet joke that people spelled "lose" l-o-o-s-e. But I see it so often now that I wonder if anyone remembers that "lose" and "loose" are two different words.

Not trying to be a spelling cop, just wondering if this is an example of the Internet affecting our lives in ways we never dreamed.

Sarah deserves a Louisiana ass whipping, as far as I'm concerned. And my greatest hope is that Britney gets herself together on a personal level. But your commentary on the industry and Brit's pimp-get pimped cycle is pretty dead-on.

Now you got me feeling bad for her. Yes, if Britney really believed this was worth getting worked up over, fine, do an interview, explain yourself and blast MTV and Sarah rightfully....and don't fuck it up! Don't miss the interview, don't say "y'all" that often, leave the Cheetos at home, know what I mean?

That being said her next media appearance will not be a real media appearance...it will be her being confronted by paparazzi and cussing them out, and REALLY looking bad. Have to wait and see, though.

I dig Sarah but she can be unfunny) and mean, too. And the fact that she fucks someone like Jimmy Kimmel for media attention....about as tragic as Britney and frankly, something to bring up in the interview (it's her weakness).

Well maybe just figured it wasnt worth it, because she figured people would talk about the performance and even more so, people are gonna ask her about the performance. Shit if Britney went on OPRAH today and told this whole story about MTV lieing to her and Sarah's jokes about her kids being mistakes, Britney would have new fans that she never had before and OPRAH would probably buy MTV and fire everyone and then go on TV and ruin Sarah Silverman, come on OPRAH has taken people out like that before.

Well, for a normal person with two kids in two years, she looks great. But when you are a celebrity and you're performing in next to nothing, you gotta look better.

Smooches;)

yes, for a normal person that had 2 kids, she looks good. But yeah, this is Britney and she should have looked her best. She looked better with her rehersal clothes.(jeans, white tank top, and a hat.

I like her new song, but this girl really needs a new management team!!!
I felt bad for her, I really wanted to see her make a comeback.
There is always a next time, she is only 25. Maybe she will watch her peformance and something will "click".

BTW, she made a huge mistake by flashing her "roast beef" right after.....
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad

eye don't feel so sad

And if Janet Jackson was a blond-headed little white girl who was on the Mickey Mouse Club as a teen-ager and made her life a tabloid staple, she likely would receive the same type of press Britney Spears has without needing to have nearly the staying power over the past two-plus decades to warrant such respect. So I would say it sort of washes out.

The reality is that one artist (Jackson) has been a staple in the pop music scene for more than 20 years. If anything, Spears is a derivative of what Jackson did in the 1980s and 1990s.

[Edited 9/9/07 21:50pm]

I would argue that Janet Jackson being a Jackson has a lot to do with her success. Few artists would have been able to hit it big after having their first two albums fail commercially -- especially if the particular person, unlike Prince, lacks talent.

Because LaToya, Rebbie and all the other Jacksons are such huge forces in the recording industry. rolleyes

It was terrible. I wanted Britney to be terrible and now that she was, I kinda feel sorry for her. I actually thought she was going to be great and shut me up but so much for that. She looked lost and like she didn't want to be there. It was like looking at an image of her old self. No one in the audience was feeling it but worst of all, she herself wasn't feeling it either. But what did everyone expect from Britney in reality? Live Singing? I remember back in 2003 when she had her In the Zone ABC special, nothing was live, the lypsynching was off too, and that shit was rehearsed. Also can we stop making this allowance that if you dance you dont have to sing, these thing has been an excuse for over 25 years now and everyone uses it, even people that dont have difficult dance routines.

The first pic is not photoshopped. lol

The second pic is a split second of a dance move caught in a photo. Her back is arched and her stomach is pushed out and ya she has a small roll on her back from the arch...wow, big whoop!

That is not out of shape, even skinny mofos can get their stomachs to stick out like that.

Her body looks amazing for us common folk. But to be on stage in front of millions in a bikini top and barely there panties, you better have a flat stomache. That's not true. I've seen dancers on many tours that look like she does now or with a few more pounds.

when we send out the message that Brit-Brit is fat, people don't make the distinction between Brit as a performer and them as a common person. These girls look at pictures of Britney and then look at pictures of themselves and start starving themselves or throwing up or any of other things because if Britney, who still looks better than the average American is fat, than what are they.

and people like Perez Hilton, who is obese, calling someone who isn't fat who isn't is totally hypocritical and dangerous for young people.

My problem is I think only a HOE would wear something like this in public..and as a HOE she deserves whatever critisism she gets..I also have a problem with the media for sending the very clear message out there to women that the ideal figure for a woman is something waif like..That sucks BIG TIME ! and its so NOT TRUE !!!confused

Exactly, lets face it we have all bought into this image of what female performers have to look like and we cant except anything different. A few years back they "photoshopped" half of Jennifer lopez's Ass off for a movie poster because they felt it wasnt the right image for america to be that "built"

I'm a mother of two. My baby is 18 years old, I also go to the gym 4 days a week and I still wouldn't put on that get up! No one's putting her down because of her body. They're putting her down because as a mother who just had 2 babies, she knew damn well, that was not the right outfit for her to be in! Yet, she chose to put it, knowing full well that she'd be talked about! When she had it on for her video shoot and the photos leaked, she was ridiculed.

Either she truly doesn't care if she's ridiculed as long as she's getting some attention or the girl's got some serious problems!

BS

her outfits shouldn't have to change on stage simply because she is a mother of two kids.

that's some patriarcial bullsh*t if i've ever heard it.

she's a performer, an entertainer she is supposed to make us suspend disbelief.

Fuck all of that.

I'm damn near forty with taut skin and a size 3-5, which (ridiculouly) is considered large by my work environment standards (but fuck them too lol ). I work with models every day that have pushed out babies in between being shot for any number of editorials and advertisements meant to subliminally seduce us into believing what looks appropriate or not appropriate on people. So the "mommies shouldn't wear such things" argument doesn't wash with me. That being said, what DOES wash with me is the idea that if you know your gut is hanging out over your draws for the whole world to see on national television you should've (or your stylist should've ) had enough sense to know that the outfit wouldn't work. And if it was a good (as in ethical) stylist not soley interested in the noteriety and checks that come with working with a client like spears 1. They should have had a back-up alternative in the same fabric and color (as to not fuck up the light/tech dude), but in a cut MORE FLATTERING to Spears' post birth figure. Then 2. Had she not complied with the suggestion that she move to the alternatively flattering outfit you have to be prepared to WALK OFF SET, period (it's called playing manipulative poker with your client to save your face amongst your fashion industry peers, folks).

The event being what it was, I completely understand why that outfit was initially chosen. It's MTV and she's ONLY 25, for gawd's sakes. Sex sells, keep it skimpy, it's hot as hell under the stage lights, blase, blase. But the outfit, in my view was only inappropriate as it was ill fitting. I lay the blame squarely on the singer for an inability to change, and secondly the stylist for not having a 2nd and 3rd alternative just in case she showed up bloated or WHATEVER. It's a universally understood part of the job description wink
