Its commercially viable- yet non-format friendly. Plus, it just plain fukkin' rocks! If he doesn't connect with this album, he never will. Which songs do you think might grow on you? If he cranks up the organ on On The Couch live, I might be tempted to play it more often. It's a bit bland to my taste. Do you think Musicology will be a chart-topper? I am afraid not. It will be moderately played, as Prince at least gives it loads of promo attention. I think Musicology LIVE, with them Controversy's and D.M.S.R.'s and I Feel For You's will make the public go buy him again. But then again, a good promo of Dear Mr Man and Life O' The Party might take this album a long way. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? Aw, that´s mean! Honest? The live recording of Bataclan performance. Official? Aw man! CAUGHT! The Gold Experience. Alas. It had the spunk so many of his albums since missed. TRC I liked music wise, but made me sad lyricwise. Again, honest? I really like some cuts on this album. Dear Mr Man is a Prince classic. Musicology is fun, but won't stand the test of time, as I keep humming HOT PANTS during the song. Now I am off playing Controversy live again... | |

Do you think Musicology will be a chart-topper? sadly no.. I've come to almost all prince's music retrospectively, and it took me at least 10 listens to feel this album, and i'd consider myself a fan of every other album (yes, even NPS, which i happen to think is one of his better ones).. so i doubt anyone new to Prince would be attracted by this, though i do concede that almost every one of the songs is a pastiche of at least two of his older tracks.. It's what 'Love actually' is to all previous richard curtis films. - Sheer joy and and exhilaration. What is your favorite song so far? I find myself singing 'Musicology' all day long in my head and now Cinamon Girl is slowly creeping in. What is the song you dislike the most? 'Life Of The Party' SHould have stayed in with the other New Power Soul outtakes. THe only thing that redeems this song is the break where he talks about himself never having a nosejob. Funny s*%! Which songs would you replace on the album? Life o the Party and um... that is all. I would have remade EXTRALOVEABLE, like he did with Tick Tick Bang for Graffitti Bridge. Which songs do you think might grow on you? On The Couch. And Call My Name has already started. I was in the club this last weekend here in L.A. --- club called IVAR-- and I found it hillarious that they still play the same tired shit that they have been playing in the club for the last ten years  -- 'Aint No Fun', 'How Do You Want It', 'Up In The Club'  and of course the new stuff that sounds just like the aforementioned songs: 'Tipsy', 'Yeah', and something by the Neptunes. C'mon! I felt like going out to my car, getting my copy of 'Musicology' and telling the DJ, "Put it on track one bitch!" IT's time and I think it can definitely go number one.

I,C,P,C keeps getting stuck in my head. . .like it, but wouldn't say it's a "great" song. A Million Days has one line in it that makes me adore the song (the suitcase one). WDYWM2DG. Do you think Musicology will be a chart-topper? If he releases a good video with a couple of songs, yeah. I would suggest I,C,P,C ('cause it's catchy) and Mr. Man. In fact, though it may seem an odd choice, I think Mr. Man is the single on this album. Hard to say why, I can just see it connecting. Again, he must make good videos if he wants to be commercial. Musicology is a good start. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? I've enjoyed them all, but The Truth is the last one that I liked and still listen to. Oh wait, I forgot about ONA.
