What has been your reaction to Musicology?
Not the type of thing i like. I would have liked more instrumentals parts but i wanted to enjoy it anyway. But, it's clear that Prince sings so well. It's so impressive... When i think about all these faked singers on TV... They have a lot to learn... What is your favorite song so far? Cinnamon girl What is the song you dislike the most? Life o the party. -Overall, I was really pleased.
What is your favorite song so far? By far, ICPC. When that song comes on, cosmic funk gets slopped all over me -- I have to open the sunroof to let it out! Prince is at his storytelling best, and that guitar/bass work at the end screams Ohio Player's "Who'd She Coo." With Musicology ==> vintage funk, and I've been missing it! What is the song you dislike the most? I don't dislike it, but Cinnamon Girl is a little devoid of funk for my taste. Which songs would you replace on the album? Nothing - it's an interesting mix of styles, but maybe that's the point? A little funk, a little romance, a little rock, a little dance...they're on there for a reason, so if he's happy with it, it's fine with me. LOP sounds like it needs remixing -- the song just stops midway through and launches into a funny bridge, then comes back uptempo....strange... 
Which songs do you think might grow on you? I seem to skip over Reflection, but I need to spend more time with the lyrics when I'm in a "reflective" mood. Do you think Musicology will be a chart-topper? Regretfully, no, not the album, but possibly one or two cuts unless he finds a way to get airplay on stations other than "quiet storm" formats for the ballads. - I was really pleased. Really, really pleased. Tickled damn near pink. What is your favorite song so far? Hmm...this is a hard one. The first two tracks (title track and Illusion, Coma Pimp & Circumstance) are a fucking killer opening to the album. But I love The Marrying Kind like crazy, and I've been sweet on Reflection for a good long time now. What is the song you dislike the most? At first it was Cinnamon Girl, because the chorus annoyed me. But now I'm getting into the verses, and I can tell I'm going to love this song eventually. I actually don't dislike any of it. I love this album more and more each time I hear it. Which songs would you replace on the album? Life O' The Party, with the live version Which songs do you think might grow on you? At 1st. Dissapointment. Af 1st listen it was sounding 2 much of a lets-go-commercial album like Rave. At 2nd. I started 2 like some songs. At 3th. I realised the album is much better then Rave. NOTES: The "party tunes" and jams on NPS, Madd Sex, Freaks On This Side, Push It Up, blow away ICPC and LOTP. When I Lay My Hands On U blows away nearly everything on Musicology. I think Musicology for me may wind up like The Gold Experience, NPS, and Rave... rarely listened 2 by me. POSITIVE: Musicology is laying down the right 'groundwork' for a 're-introduction' 2 the masses. I still believe in Prince's creativity, ability, and spontaneity because of the brilliance, and YES, FUNKINESS of TRC, Xpectation, and N.E.W.S. Reaction: Initially horrified by the seeming return to the days of Rave etc. Now a mild disappointment regarding the general direction after the recent inspired run of albums, but a recognition that this is an enjoyable solid album for the mainstream that succeeds where his previous albums failed.
Fave song(s): Reflection/ What Do You Want Me 2 Do? Least favourite: Call My Name Which songs you would replace on the album: Even though it's my favourite song Reflection is somewhat out of place. And I think Dear Mr. Man might resonate more in an album with a more political edge. I was really pleased. It's another great Prince album to me. What is your favorite song so far? Tough to say, but probably A Million Days and Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance are the top two. What is the song you dislike the most? Life 'O' the Party and Musicology don't impress me much. Which songs would you replace on the album? None really. Which songs do you think might grow on you? Maybe If Eye Was the Man In Ur Life, but I still really like it as it is. Do you think Musicology will be a chart-topper? Definitely not. Musicology as the first single won't get it done. Still, I think the album will do moderately well. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? Musicology for sure. Before now, I loved the last half of the TRC and a lot of Rave. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Probably better live, like Extraordinary, which was also better performed live.Don´t really understand people´s fascination with this by-the-numbers ballad. Musicology . The song grew on me, though I still don´t think the mainstream will dig it...to my surprise, a lot of my non-Prince-fan friends dig it a lot. !! The Rainbow Children ( didn´t like the JW stuff, but loved Everywhere, Family Name, Last December, Muse2the Pharaoh, Mellow....tight album, musically on of my favorites, but as a non -Christian I had mixed feelings about it, but I ´ve also had this with Lovesexy...can relate to both, especially to the positive messages in both albums, but don´t loke the Bible references...Jesus is my man, but I´m a bit more careful when I don´t really know people and when there´s very little facts about religious/historic people. Anyway, here are my answers to the questionnaire... What has been your reaction to Musicology? Very, very, very pleased with the album - I was a bit apprehensive, having read so many glowing reviews, but I've struggled to get it out of my cd player ever since! What is your favorite song so far? A tricky one, this. Stuck between ICPC (so funky, it hurts), The Marrying Kind (those harpsichords and guitar - oh mama!) and Dear Mr. Man (as far as I'm concerned, every album has a 'classic' Prince song and this is the one on Musicology) but - today - I'm going to pick 'What Do U Want Me 2 Do?'. I could listen to this over & over & over & over & over... What is the song you dislike the most? I don't dislike any song, as such, but I suppose Cinnamon Girl gets the least played. Which songs would you replace on the album? What are the alternatives? Otherwise, see above. Which songs do you think might grow on you? On The Couch. I'm feeling it but it's yet to suck me in like some of the other tracks have. Sometimes the 'growers' are the best type, though. Do you think Musicology will be a chart-topper? Er...no! But I think this album - with a lot of press coverage, airplay, interviews, etc., - will be a step in the right direction (chart-wise). Might make Top 20 in the UK???
