Man I hope I'm gonna see this video everywhere!
After the first half of the video on Tavis I was SO HAPPY, but now I've seen the entire vid, I just want the whole world to see and hear this and show 'em once and for all what they have been missing all these years, since they were paying attention!! Finally a ULTIMATE FUNKY commercially released song that's not on the safe side of boredom so everybody will like it, but a real FUNK EXPLOSION!!  I think because he changes it up live and it sounds more funky. I saw him in NYC at Club Black the same night he got inducted in the the Hall of Fame  and when he sung this song it was similar to the way he did it on Leno and it sounded so good. I think after listening to it live I can't really accept it the way it is on the album. This song may not hit the charts so hopefully he has some explosive surprises (he's always good for it) on the album and release those as singles also. Or what he could do is release a live version of the song as a single.. that would be tight!

He understands that it's one thing to arrange a tune for a recording and an arrangement for live performance. One of the things that stopped me from going to concerts by many artists were their penchant for trying to recreate their albums note for note live (hence the use of pre-recorded backing tracks, vocals, etc.). BOOOOORING. What's the point? I can stay at home and listen to the recorded version and avoid all the hassles of driving to and from the venue, paying for parking and ending up being dissapointed with the performance. I've always preferred the live arrangements of his tunes. IMO, a lot of his recorded material come off like demos and after being played live they become more developed over time. Probably those who played it when it was available (in case it aint now) got it saved in their Internet Temporary Files and when they try to play it again it redirects to their temp files instead of the webfile, that's why they can see it even though it may not be an active link anymore. | |
