All my life I've wanted a Prince song to be an ode to the Mr Men books. And now finally I have my dream.

I would have liked 3 or 4 more songs, but it seems tight. Hope it's funky and uptempo.

On the lovesexy video, when Prince says, "Everybody in here can do something", i'm the one you can just about hear going:

"I can hop!...Prince - over here! I can do something, I can hop. Can I come up on stage after Boni's done her bit?"

Wow, great stuff!

I'm really surprised, that despite the secrecy of this album, that I already know six of these songs to song degree! (Musicology, Life 'o' The Party, Call My Name, What Do U Want Me 2 Do?, On The Couch and Reflection)

I like short albums (remember Dirty Mind?), here's hoping it clocks around the 45 to 50 minute mark.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

"What Do U Want Me 2 Do?" was on npgmc.com a few months ago. It is a mid-tempo song with Linn Drums...a la "Jukebox with a Heartbeat," "Dorthy Parker" and "Whatever U Do, Wherever U Go."

"Reflection" was also on the club site and was even offered as a high-quality free download (the only one of its kind in 2003). It sounds like it could have easily been on "The Truth" -- acoustic guitar and dreamy lyrics.

This doesn'y bode well for me. I'm not a big fan of "Musicology", I thought "Reflection" was okay, but not as jaw-droppingly beautiful as people have made out, and the less said about "What do you want me to do" the better - Maybe the album tracks will be better, and the NPGMC downloads were just demos. Not excited by this at all - and what happened to the "old songs redone", was that just nonsense ?

Life 'o' The Party and On The Coach were played in the shows late last year, Life 'o' The Party as a full-band song, and On The Coach sung as if improvised. Call My Name was played partially during the (name?) radio interview in the last week or so.

I agree with Doozer and I really think that Reflection is from the same session as The Truth. It just has that same sound.

Does anyone else think these are way too similar to be two different Prince album covers?

14 to 18 tracks - nothankx
i can only pray that this bad boy clocks in at under 55 mins. great albums seldom take longer...
that reflection choon was hella weak, but in the context of a tight little album of good shit then maybe it closes it off on a nice note r something (grasping here...). Musicology (the video is now ONLINE folks and it kills!!) www.columbiarecords.com/P...cology.asx
is a cool number to open with...

nod

I totally agree. I hate the supersizing of albums since CDs have become the driving format. They tend to be 45-50 minutes of good stuff and 25-30 minutes of filler.
It makes me giggle that 1999 was a 'double album' that would be considered standard length by today's standards.

I say, keep the CD short and to the point and save the rest for b-sides...

Mad Co-Sign!!

Just because a CD can hold 80 minutes of music doesn't mean that you have to fill it!!

Most CD's these days blow and just fill up space.

The limitations of vinyl made artists work harder to make every bit count. I also miss the sequencing of albums... side one, side two (then three & four on a double lp). It really broke things up into acts like a play. Side three of SOTT is magic!! Its just isn't the same on CD.

That was one brilliant thing about EMANCIPATION. Each CD was only 60 minutes and they were separate experiences. You had to switch them out of the CD player manually, you could choose which one you wanted on a given day, etc. That was BRILLIANT.

He used to do much better titles. Pretty lame. Does not bode well for the album. But at least there are no religious songs--hopefully.
