Open Book in pristine quality has always been one of my holy grails. Fingers crossed they don't mess it up somehow...

I think the schoolyard we've heard is obviously an early version. This version is longer and I assume more fleshed out. Probably a bit like the Version of horny Pony on beginnings vs the released version.

Probably more detailed too, lyrics wise.

I don't advocate for "Frankenstein" mixes like the previous Originals set, but I wonder if there's a version still with his demo vocals like in the bootleg but with the recurring lead guitar motif he features in the hook of the Patti LaBelle official version. I kinda prefer her version just for that.

Then again, fans knew all about the two Vault Vol. I tracks from Celebration within a few days of those cassettes being given out and they still waited an entire month to release them.

While I do think that we're getting a D&P re-release next, I have doubts about this track order, only because none of the B-sides from D&P are on it.

There were numerous B-sides on the two maxi CD singles that aren't on this list. When the estate has done these sort of releases, they've usually included the B-sides.

It could be another "Anna Waiting"/"Vicki Waiting", "Little Girl Wendy's Parade"/"Christopher Tracy's Parade' situation that simply lacks the usual "configuration" citation history. The songs he gave away generally have significantly less documentation/archives to them than the stuff he kept.

Popular musicians constantly revise and rewrite lyrics after they get the basic track down. The most famous example of this is when Paul McCartney goes on TV shows and talks about how "Yesterday" was originally "Scrambled Eggs" just to get the melody down. "Martika's Kitchen" very well could have been someone else's kitchen in the demo phase. Maybe it was Tony M.'s kitchen and Tony M originally did the "the table is set" bridge.

Quite frankly I don't see the point in putting out everything on vinyl too – as long as a CD-box version contains ALL the same photos and content in the same, 12" size booklet! – but I know there are die hard fans of the format. I only bought the vinyl SDE boxes to have all those tape-box photos in a large format, but I hate being forced to spend extra $$$ just for that.

Anyway, even though the initial list of vault tracks that were revealed here would fill up 2 CDs exactly to the rim, it seems like an extra song (Standing At The Altar) will also be on offer, so one of the vault tracks would have to be moved onto the singles CD. I could imagine the Thunder ballet version being a candidate for that, as it was already released officially (on video) so some people might not view it as a vault track.

concert they want to release and then check with them if they want first dibs or no?
