you know what would be awesome. 3 discs of just prince/npg vault tracks and then the fourth vault disc is the "originals" of the era (non-frankenstein versions). that's the smart way to handle their inclusion.

I've been saying that for a long time...Originals included as a separate CD in the SDEs

BIG IDEA

i like it.

the originals idea was always too scattershot

Honestly the last thing I ever wanted to hear was another take of Horny Pony and a 7 minute version of Schoolyard. That song is creepy and problematic af. I may be in the minority here, but unlike some people on this thread I'm okay with the estate leaving out some of the more out of pocket songs (Work that Fat, Schoolyard, Extra loveable, Lust U Always) to avoid problems in the public eye. I've already seen MANY posts on social media attempting to cancel him for his homophobia and grooming of Mayte. The man had issues but not everyone is able to see him for his music. I work in the arts so Prince is very sacred to a lot of dancers, but if something like Schoolyard gets publicity it's not going to look good. But hey at least we are getting new music 🥴

the year is 2023 and we're still deluding ourselves into thinking that anybody gives enough a shit about prince vault material to launch an effective and widespread cancelling campaign.

it's a non issue. it was a non issue with lust and extraloveable and it's a non issue with schoolyard... though the former were far more vile than schoolyard is

also if the version of horny pony on the box is the sparse and stripped down version, it absolutely fucking kicks the shit out of the overproduced mess released as a b side.

^ I'd hope so, but probably not. Seems like an unnecessary production cost increase. We can but hope.

I understand the inclusion of a disc of B-sides and remixes, but who are the edits for? Who's listening to a song and saying "I like this, I just wish it was 25 seconds shorter"

Yeah, I never understood the point of all of those. I understand having a single edit for any album tracks that are significantly longer, but multiple short edits of the same song are completely unnecessary

With the CDs coming in at 7 but the vinyl only coming in at 12, I have a feeling 'THE NIGHMARE' list is more likely. I hope I'm wrong.

ISRC is not necessarily sequential. Just look up SOTT Deluxe in that same database.

I'm glad they chose a song we haven't heard before as the first single.
Apparently Horny Pony (Version 2) is the b-side.

That's promising but I'm hearing the glam show is not the blu ray? For me that was the most exciting aspect . So just the audio? Any one else hear this ?

We know the DVD is the Glam Slam show, but I haven't seen confirmation that it's the same show for the live audio. If it is, the show was 115mins long. If it's not an edit, that's 2 CDs down. The album will obviously be a 3rd.

That leaves us 4 discs for remixes/bsides/edits and Vault material. I wasnt 3 discs of vault material, but if there is, the will be many remixes/edits left off.

So it's not A Stevie Nicks cover?

I would prefer it to be a Prince penned song.

I found it. Nice. Looking forward to hearing the Prince version.

that singles box looks quite nice.

and tbh, all the best songs on the album (except maybe walk dont walk) were released as singles so that might be the perfect version of the album cool

I'm a absolutely not OK with that kind of thinking.

You don't try to avoid some obscure Prince music for haters, no you better confront everyone with it.

All of Prince's music deserves to be heard and be out there available, so people can study it.

It's freedom of art. (Possibly, The Estate can decide different for the sake of money... as always).

If extreme right ideas are allowed because based on freedom of speech, why not Prince's whole oevre accessible for all.

What people think is hard to change, better don't give it any attention when it's negative.

But (partly) true, Prince was aparently (only briefly) homophobic when jw came in his life, but left that publicly behind when he invited both W&L for a TV show appearance.

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

the word problematic is overused and allowed to be used without retort.

prince already IS problematic.

this is an artist who wrote a song about incest earlier in his career, another about trying to convert a lesbian to heterosexuality, and ended one song where every sexual thrust was a punishment for some crime or another (this one is both funny and yes, problematic, but also one of the most audacious endings to any song ever lol). he used the word fag on one outtake already so i think

schoolyard will be no real biggie.

Just rumor, but I heard the Jan 27, 1992 show from Paisley Park would be the live audio show, with the Glam Slam show being the video.

That would an interesting choice with it being a very short show, by looks of it on PVault

The set list was similar to the Glam Slam show. PVault just doesn't have all the songs listed.

Paisley Park has shown the full Earl's Court show from June 15, so it's quite possible that that is the DVD. I'm hoping for the Glam Slam show on video, it's excellent. Sounds like we'll be getting the Glam Slam show either audio or video for sure.
