So does this mean "Welcome 2 America" will get cancelled?

Like that scene in Purple Rain where he comes into his band rehearsing and tells them to turn the noise down. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

Has anyone read the book, specifically the section on Prince?

I stumbled upon this in one of the "quirkier" corners of youtube: Sinead has some devilish things to say about Prince! https://www.youtube.com/w...0X2Kn4-qf8

Was it before or after she said this? . Famous Irish Singer Sinea...tinel.com) IāM TERRIBLY SORRY. WHAT IāM ABOUT TO SAY IS SOMETHING SO RACIST I NEVER THOUGHT MY SOUL COULD EVER FEEL IT. BUT TRULY I NEVER WANNA SPEND TIME WITH WHITE PEOPLE AGAIN (IF THATāS WHAT NON-MUSLIMS ARE CALLED). NOT FOR ONE MOMENT, FOR ANY REASON. THEY ARE DISGUSTING. ā SHUHADAā DAVITT (@MAGDADAVITT77) . Do you think Sinead practises Shariah law? And she is cool with the historical treatment of women across the middle east? Is she an angel?

ian said: Sinead is so talented. None of us really know what happened with Prince, but is it such a mental leap to imagine a situation where Prince's manipulative, occasionallly bullying and controlling side would go down like a lead balloon with a strong and smart woman like Sinead, or lead to misunderstanding. Let's give them both the benefit of the doubt in the absence of a corroborating third party. Some good news, it seems she's got a healthier take on it now.
And yes, Sinead has had her problems at times and deserves our compassion. It'd be really nice if the next time this same tired story resurfaces in a couple of years (as usual, with no new info whatsoever) we all just gave it a miss and avoided the cliche of "pop star fans rabidly defending their hero against anything and everything", it's all a bit MJish isn't it? Very well said. Prince fans can enjoy his music and appreciate the insightful things heās said and innovative things heās done, but Iāve personally never seen a Prince fan defend his bad behavior viciously or deny it out right. In fact, the most critical people Iāve seen of Prince are his own fans, especially when I used to frequent this site back in the 2010s. "I took another bubble bath, with my pants on. All the fighting stopped. Next time Iāll do it sooner.ā

I've never heard any accusations of Prince being an MJ-level child abuser, but the dude made some undeniably sketchy choices in his life - didn't he basically groom both Anna Fantastic and Mayte before either were legally adults, and he was in his late 20's/early 30's? The whole Susan-Moonsie-as-an-overly-sexualized-young-girl thing was creepy as hell too. Call it shock value or whatever you want, there were plenty of other ways he could have pushed the envelope without going to that well. Just saying. [Edited 6/8/21 22:38pm]

Regarding the others it's not my place to say, but Anna Fantastic has herself said that she never even met Prince until she was 19. Check out The Collector's Guide to Prince on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/p...4ldzxwlEuy

I thought she initially met him in a night club in London, when she was 15?

Why would Prince be pissed of by the fact NC2U was a hit? It earned him a lot of money. Chaka Khan covered I Feel For You, it was a #1 hit and Prince was never pissed of. He also wrote many hits for others. Moreover, when an artist do a cover, doesn't the writer of the original song has to sign his approval? I read a story twenty years ago when Alicia Keys asked Prince by phone if she could cover How Come... She said he answered " Ask my lawyers... No I m joking, of course you can". Prince was so glad NC2U became a hit that he performed it at almost every concert after

I'm just going to respond to the highlighted part. Now this being the Org, no one jump all over me please.
I dont think that is true actually. When Rod Stewart did a cover of "Peach" in the late 90s, Prince got all sorts of irate about it and went on Love4OneAnother.com and complained about it. It turns out that Rod just went ahead and recorded it because you actually dont need the permission of the copyright owner. It's one of the reasons why Prince was on his record company crusade for so long.

Strange, because I read years and years ago that Paul McCartney had to agree on each Yesterday cover But there were already 1600 covers of Yesterday by 1986 (!) so is it really physically possible to listen to and check all the songs before release? And when there are two writers, or more, if one of the writers disagree to the cover, then the song can't be released? If McCartney had a word to say, would he have permitted MJ to cover Come Together? This is a Lennon song, but officially credited to McCartney too. Maybe MJ chose a Lennon song to cover because it was more easy to get the right to release it. It s true that in tv advertisings for instance, some covers are used, without the writer agreeing to it ( or is it just public relations BS?)

I have. The whole encounter, according to Sinead, last about 7-8 hours. What she is saying might be true but there is obviously a lot she doesn't say.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I've not heard that about PM but I have read that "Yesterday" is the most covered song of the modern rock era. I thought MJ owned the Beatles publishing hence his cover of "Come Together". In my music business class at Berklee years ago, I learned that everytihng in the music business is negotiable and that's why there are so many contract nightmares where years later, so many artists and musicians regret signing away certain things.

This Hot Press interview is the very first time she spoke to the media about the incident. Aside from the magazine mistakingly saying it took place at P MN home, this is very likely the most accurate version of the story.

I asked, because as Prince was almost always recording/touring potentially her story could be disproven if it transpired he was somewhere else making music, etc.
