Not to mention delusional, selfish and huge liars. I know as I have 3 close members of my family that are bi-polar.

I've yet to read a description of classic bipolar - very LONG alternating periods of mania and severe depression - that marries up with my personal experience of having crossed hundreds of people. 3 of them were schizophrenic. Noone was bipolar. I wonder how many of these supposed manic depressives are actually borderline personality disorder sufferers.

I find it hard to believe Stephen Fry becomes violent at the drop of a hat, is delusional, particulary selfish or a huge liar. Or, for that matter, can anyone say they've met someone who has gone through mania lasting months at a time?

A very close family friend is bi-polar and I met this one person, who seemed to be bi-polar as well. So I called the friend and she told me exactly what you say here. She's on medication and that's why she lives a "normal" life. She still has episodes, but she's definitely better off with the medication and she also told me that bi-polar don't always lie, but they absolutey tend to blow situations out of proportion. So while I believe that prince and sinead had a falling out, I don't believe he went violent. Prince himself didn't have a diagnosed mental illness, he still had an extreme personality at times and coupled with sinead's bi-polar disorder, a explosion was definitely a given. But I absolutely do not believe it went further than both insulting each other.

Right there you could be describing Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Just to be clear, big mood swings throughout the day is not typically associated with bipolar, probably more with BPD. However, there is something called mixed aspects bipolar, which perhaps is more believeable to the layperson. Not trying to play down anyone's experience. But mania episodes lasting sometimes months seems a bit fanciful, despite all the psychiatric material written on it. For example, "people may not eat or sleep during a manic episode". How long would that last? Doesn't strike me, Sinead O'Connor suffered from that problem.

She can't keep her story straight.

She previously claimed that it happened at his house in Malibu and that they chased down onto a busy highway (PCH???). When did Prince have a hom in Malibu? There's no record of that.

Besides, she's like a foot taller than him. IF it happened in a similar fashion, she's saying that she couldn't outrun him?

It's the only story she has left to embellish into a book. Poor thing.

I mean, his basketball coach said he was pretty fast lol

According to the article she has Borderline Personality Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

She was diagnosed as bi-polar in the past but that appears to be a misdiagnosis.

None of us have any way of knowing what went down between Prince & Sinead, but some of y'all are entirely too eager to dismiss her claims and paint her as a crazy lying harpy (like the dude we're all here to celebrate didn't believe in shit like chemtrails, or embellish the truth throughout his entire career. just saying)

Can I see him chasing someone around a freeway or whatever it was she claimed? No, it sounds kinda silly, but I wasn't there. Y'all weren't there either. Maybe Sinead is misremembering or conflating traumatic experiences, who knows. It doesn't hurt to show a little compassion though.

Agreed. Prince was just as fucked up as any fucked up artist on the planet. After she probably refused to take a bath for him, he probably chased her down to get her to sign a non-dislosure form. When she refused, it probably made him more angry. I guess we will never get the full story. But we all know Prince used his fame and money to seduce underage victims just like MJ did. The only difference is that Prince did not get caught. I'm starting to think maybe the only people left on this website are Prince worshippers.

The mixture of BPD and PTSD often can look like Bipolar to the untrained eye. It is not unusual to have BPD and PTSD, as the great majority of people with BPD had trauma from severe child abuse. Sinead has said that her mother was extremely abusive. The mood swings of BPD are always triggered by perceived Abandonment, more often emotional than just physical. This tends to trigger rage at the abandoner, feelings of worthlessness, and despair. Something clearly went south in their night together. Prince's cruel and self-centered streak could fuel emotional abandonment in non-BPD folks much less someone as raw as Sinead. I could imagine how this scene could have escalated quickly.

confused confused You don't have to call her ugly. Some women can rock a bald head as much as a man and I think she absolutely can pull it off.

Fully concur. I think BPD and complex PTSD are two sides of the same coin. Perhaps the biggest difference being, BPD extrovert their problems whereas c-PTSD makes people more introverted. But the underlying causes for both could be the same. The feelings of abandonment are definitely there in c-PTSD as well.

The little girl from The Ring probably had c-PTSD while alive, with abandonment the major cause. Her expression was always flat and her voice monotone from the little we see of her. Then she died and came back as a vengeful ghost with BPD.
And people think Sinead is bad. hrmph

I don't know, sometimes I think he had a type, dark hair. But then he dated Kim Basinger and Carmen Electra, and their blonde, so, maybe he just was attracted to women of all kinds.

No way he beat her like a prison inmate with a pillow case full of rocks. Smh

The fact that she has added to the story over the years and then lied about him after his death regarding Arsenio is very telling. She has serious issues and is selling a book. $$$

She also had no problem with Mike Tyson committing rape -- even shamed his victim.

The reporter of the newspaper should have asked her:

If Prince was abusive to her in the past, why did she agree to sing the song at that time and all these years later? She should not keep the song and sing it anymore either.

Haven't heard Sinead said that to Prince, but she did say this about Mike Tyson:

Sinead O'Connor Speaks - Rolling Stone

"Poor Mike Tyson. I mean, there is an example of a man who was treated abominably as a child; all his ancestors have been abused as children. He’s only a little tiny baby, and all of these people are trying to fuckin’ kill him. And they have killed him to a certain extent. They all have a great time saying what a monster he is. Lay off, because there but for the grace of God goes every single one of us. Poor man. He has had the most miserable upbringing.

If he looks for solace in the arms of lots of women, what do you expect him to do? And that woman that is suing him is a bitch. I don’t care if he raped her; he should learn about himself and why it is he behaves like that, et cetera, et cetera. But equally she should look at herself and look at the disgrace that she is making of women. Look at what she is doing to him by trying to get money off him, going around doing chat shows. She’s used him, you know. It’s disgraceful, and she’s a disgrace to women as far as I’m concerned."

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Steve Fargnoli (one of Prince’s former managers) was Sinead’s manager during that period. He would have been aware of that song and may have introduced it to Sinead.

Prince's manager was her manager. Also, Sinead strikes me as someone who doesn't just listen to the likes of Britney Spears. So why do you think she hasn't made other songs a hit? If Prince wanted the song to be a hit, he wouldn't have put it on the Family album and would have released it as a single. Most fans of artists don't just listen to their hits.
