co lead for elisa on "stand up and be strong" too. seems just like in the concerts he was giving them some serious air time on the album too.

i'll reserve judgement for now. but for me it's always: no prince lead vocal, not really an album track for a prince album.

i still feel serious ill will toward Chelsea Rogers and Million $ Show, but that's just me I guess

I remember how the fans ALWAYS hated Prince(r.i.p.) turning over vocals to Shelby(whom did one of the best per-interviiws about Prince(r.i.p.) on 60 mintes) live she got SO MUCH hate around here in the I HATE SHELBY threads. I guess Prince(r.i.p.) is now having the last laugh. I hope Troy makes Morris & Shelby the new spokesman for Prince's(r.i.p.) new pre 2000 vault material.

this roll out is boring as shit. 1999 and sott had me much more hyped. thinking about them every day. not because i'm one of those loser 80s purists but because it just felt more busy. i hope i can have at least a few fun months with the diamonds and pearls lead up.

Hopefully they have a suprise for June 7th or start doing that from now on, but probably not.

We know, we know. You are always right. But no matter what they did or didn't release, roughly half of us would still complain about it I think.

I have my own ideas and preferences on what the estate should and shouldn't do and what I'd like to see and have along with my own ideas on what I would do but I also understand it's complicated, that there are literally MILLIONS of people to please and, more to the point, MILLIONS of dollars riding on all of it.

Much as I'd love to be in control, get a chance to listen to all this shit, and decide what to release or not, I know that if I were, a lot of the fans would disagree with my decisions, call me greedy, call out my taste, complain most of it wasn't new, etc.

I think they've done a pretty good job overall (all things considered) and I expect this album could very well debut at #1 and perhaps fan the flames of demand for future projects now that (after D&P), there's not much to mine from the big selling stuff.

I think they'll move more into deep cuts and rarities moving forward. They've released more stuff in the 5 years since his death than Prince did himself in the last 10 of his life, when you look at it. There's a lot of cooks in this kitchen.

And by cooks I mean accountants and lawyers.

Sorry to be right all the time. There's no chance for such an expensive set to hit #1, even in terms of pure sales charts. And with streaming added on the Billboard 200, it will hit like #20. The December month is also very competitive, and it will be likely lost in the Charts. They did a very good job overall I agree. But if their crazyness of Superdeluxe 15 vinyls prevent them for releasing it when they want and should, and to postpone it forever like the Crystal Ball set, then they should be more reasonable. For the D&P SDE, they should for instance reconsider to release the B-sides remixes and edits on 8 vinyls. 4 CDs along with the vinyls set would be just fine. It would be a pain in the ass to listen to a 2 vinyls Gett Off Remixes. Even for the concert they should reconsider it to be a 4 vinyls, that's insane. The more reasonable would be to put on vinyls the original albums, the true B-sides ( Call the Law, etc.) And of course all the unreleased stuff. If that makes the set more affordable and easy to release, it s a win-win situation for them. Who are listening the Edits and remixes of 1999 and SOTT on vinyls anyway? [Edited 6/2/21 2:33am]

I'm not expecting anything world changing from this record but it wouldn't surprise me if it made a splash somehow. To tell you the truth, I don't much care how many people are wise to it, buy it or how much it sells. I'll get a new surprise CD in the mail sometime soon and that's kind of fun. I hope I like it.

I agree they kind of fucked up the timing with the promotion and all that. W2A made a lot of noise for about 4 days and now they've killed any momentum they built off it. The cynic in me says they're slowly entering the phase of milking us die hards (hence the insane and weird different packages we're offered here) and that they're beginning to test the waters there but I think most of us are too savvy to get ripped off but will open our wallets for primo stuff. I know I will.

Then again, a lot of people here are spending over 100 bucks for an extra concert and some worthless collectables so I dunno. I stopped automatically handing Prince my money sight unseen (or unheard) a good while ago and, had I been smart, less sentimental and less lazy, would have unloaded 1/3 to 1/2 of my collection I have on hand when the iron was hot after he died and cashed in on speculators.

Where do you get that nonsense from? There's about 10 vinyl plants in the US alone. More like about 50 vinyl plants, and there are new ones popping up all the time. We even have one here in Norway.

The long wait *is* real, though. It was long to begin with, and Covid (pluss the rising demand for vinyl) has really messed up things lately. Optimal in Germany, where most new Prince records are being pressed are now operating with a NINE month waiting time. Major labels get to cut the queue a bit, but this is probably why we haven't heard anything about Crystal Ball yet. Several big box sets by big artists have been delayed for a long time.

The main pressing plant I use myself (Sony's plant in Poland) has gone from 10 weeks to 7 months now.

Luckily there are three companies who make new vinyl presses (plus GZ in Czeck Republic who make their own), and the biggest pressing plants have ordered a LOT of them recently. But the long waiting time will probably last for at least a year.
