I am so excited about all this. But difficult decision.
Pro deluxe: - Encourage more ambitious reissues from the estate. - The concert seems to be fabulous, and I don’t have any later years Prince concert film. - Book and poster could be nice, and I’m intrigued by the gold package.
Contra: - I’s just a lot of money. - Not interested in ephemera. - Don’t really know how good this album will be.
Agony. |

Yes, that.
Where's the lo-fi listening as a preview? (all songs....) Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. |

Same here. I guess you can judge LotusFlow3r/MPLSound and 20Ten if you want to get that "era" of Prince's sound and level of quality.
I personally love LF and 20Ten, but then again only got those as regular CDs.

I just listened to the Soul Asylum song "Stand Up And Be Strong" on Spotify and in my head re-imagined it with Prince singing. The lyrics are already a bit Prince-y, so it's not a big stretch. I'm really excited about this one.
I think it's interesting that the SA album came out in 2006 (not their heyday of the early/mid 90s). I'm surprised they were on Prince's radar so late in their/his career, but they're also from Minneapolis (and have recorded at PP) so apparently Prince never stopped following them. |

Or on the flipside of that note: encourage more greedy reissues from the estate?
I mean, what if Parade SDE costs $300 and comes with a cardboard build-it-yourself Prince standee?

I still have that cut-out standee since 1987 (Cat with the black heart) still in pristine quality,
and it goes from left to right and back, and moves from room to room.
Don't want to throw it away, but it bothers me as I'm getting older.
And it reminds me of the good old days.

Yes, Michael said in a recent interview he was with P at Paisley and P asked him to call Dave Pirner to get permission for him to cover Stand Up And Be Strong |

The idea of Prince covering a Soul Asylum song feels like something right out of left field (I know they are from Minnesota) but I'm also really looking forward to hearing this track. I hope it brings SA some benefits. |

£150 ???? A ripoff price for a collection of questionable quality.
No desire for vinyl.
I'd pay £60 tops for Blueray, Cd and a quality book.
I'll listen to it on Spotify instead. As equality grows, violence declines. |

£150 is mad. MAD. Where on earth did that price come from?
But Amazon US let me buy it for $130, with shipping, which is a bit more reasonable. [Edited 4/14/21 12:18pm] |

meanwhile something like JONI MITCHELL ARCHIVES: VOL 1 (5 DISC) is only $ 45.
yeah. it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg for the fans to have a little boxed set.
i wish the estate would just throw us a few of those, filled with songs that just don't belong anywhere really and i'll take 4 mixes or alternate versions of songs as well.

I ordered the deluxe package and the 7" single from the US Prince store, and the total came to £94 including shipping to the UK..
Still not cheap, but there's definitely no reason to pay £150+ for the deluxe (and that's without the 7"). |

Is it? I didn't know that.
I do it all the time to shave down a post to the part I'm addressing or to delete images from HUGE 10 picture posts that nobody wants to scroll through 10 times I've never been warned about it.
Doing it to take a post of context and distort its meaning seems pretty shitty but I never do that.

i don't know, either. i did receive a warning for doing it once, although i don't recall the circumstances. i'm sure my editing was less innocuous than adding '(r.i.p.)' after every appearance of 'prince' in another user's post, but rules are rules. deleting content to focus attention would be a separate matter, which i'm sure would be entirely acceptable. |

rlittler81 said: Interesting article from Super Deluxe Edition on the process and delays of pressing vinyl in the industry at the moment. Explains the seemingly long delay between the announcement of W2A and the actual release. Also mentions 'several major releases' being pushed back to 2022... could this include 'Crystal Ball'??? https://superdeluxeeditio...UvWLIEU1kQ Yes, that s what I explained when I said it was impossible for CB to be released that fast, since it was supposed to be released on April, after a march announcement. It couldn't be anything else but fake news. And that's why the estate always needed 3 months before releass to announce a new project. But if they want to reduce their delays, they just have to stop selling two times the same fucking album in their overpriced boxset CD/Vinyl |

I m sure they won't even print the lyrics in the booklet. Which is hilarious since they focus their promotion on the relevance of the texts Prince wrote for this album. |

I think he didn’t release this as it just wasn’t good enough.
And now, with 60 classic brand new tracks buried behind album reissues, these are the Vault tracks which will get the most attention.
This came hot on the heels of his worst ever CD and his moment of truth about this one not only lead to its cancellation, he stopped releasing altogether for several years.
I’m all for fancy editions. But not with vinyl thrown in. Or tat thrown in. And then having it price-matched to the 9 disc SOTT.
I can see me not buying this at all. |

Do you hear yourself? Constantly making up stories and already bitching about that outcome that you just fantasized on? You're trying to create a parallel reality where you are allowed to bitch about everything because you know, you are always right. When will these people that make up stories and pollute the environment in this place be banned? God knows. |

I wonder if this line was originally included on the studio version and has been edited out by the Estate? Clearly they are going with the promotional line that Prince was being 'prophetic', rather than criticising the Obama administration, despite the song being recorded in 2010. |
