This is turning into a good series. Just thankful that the people involved, from his muse Susanna to technical wiz Susan, are smart and heavily articulate. These stories are a very nice compliment to the upcoming album.

I think some question or try to diminish Wendy and Lisa's contributions as they feel it threatens the legend of Prince somehow. For any of you that feel this way, I would not worry about that....I love W&L's contributions to Prince's music. I will say that if you removed his 1985-1987 output, he'd still be an unparalleled artist but those albums just shot him into the top stratosphere. Having said that, W&L put out their own solo albums. I like bits of all of them but one I have listened to most would be Fruit at the Bottom because - it sounded most like Prince! His influence is what made them better. Their influence is a tool he used or a step on a ladder he used to reach further. Said diff, if Prince was open to playing with Miles Davis or other visionairies, I think you would have seen even more greatness....b/c, Prince could do anything. I see him as a most amazing magical element that mixed with other elements, could become something remarkable with each mixture. He was the magical ingredient.

Thank you for the link! . I am so glad that this is all being documented. We should thank everyone who has shared their stories of first hand involvement into the behind the scenes. This is all so important RIGHT NOW while it is still relatively fresh in their minds. A HUGE thank you to everyone's participation in this documentation of the Prince story. Eric Leeds needs to write a book or do a podcast or something. I keep getting the vibe that the estate is trying to talk about Sheila as little as possible, but was she even involved at this point? I feel like Prince ran to her more _after_ the Revolution breakup. Of course, we'll never know the true full story. [Edited 9/3/20 8:41am]

We need to hear more from this master. As for Sheila, it’s not a hidden agenda or vibe. She wasn’t around. She came later, with the tour.

Big Tall Wall is so different. Much more upbeat. Sounds like it belongs with Eggplant and Everybody Wants.

"The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker" with some horns is definately weird. . My whole expectation of that fabled 12" single has been smashed to smithereens "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

The SOTT band shade was less this time but there were moments. I find it interesting that Susan Rogers felt like Prince lost something when he went with the “Oakland” band. Prince seemed to think that band took him higher. Many fans agree with Prince that his SOTT/Lovesexy band was an improvement from his previous bands.

Pointless to compare. Each had their own unique traits. In terms of recording, I guess the band were more evident on the next album, Lovesexy. Just as brilliant, in my view, but for different reasons. When the LOVESEXY special edition podcast comes along, I'm sure you'll get your fill. [Edited 9/3/20 11:43am] [Edited 9/3/20 11:46am]

You obviously have a bias, which is fine. But you should admit that too. Instead, we all see how disingenuous you're being. Yes. it's that transparent. [Edited 9/3/20 11:44am]

This piece of info was new to me, or was this already widely known? . "Duane Tudahl, senior researcher for the Prince Estate Archives" . Good on them for getting him and I hope it makes the studio sessions books more or less guaranteed to continue! Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

I think fans can/should compare. Those comparisons result in great dialogue. Associates should not compare. I think it is bad form when associates throw shade and try to discredit eras that they were not a part of. Prince was magic in every era and various associates were lucky to be a part of those eras. Sheila is probably the one person who was there and had a substantial contribution to many of those eras. Can't wait to hear from her. [Edited 9/3/20 11:51am]

I took Susan’s comment to mean that Prince was letting go of a significant part of his creative life, letting go of it/losing it so that he could move on to new creative things with a new band. I think Susan Rogers is incredibly intelligent, considered and well-meaning in everything she says. (even if she does hate Adonis & Bathsheba, which is a terrible sin) PIPS! Eurgh...
