If I recall correctly, they released three singles ahead of the 1999 SDE ("International Lover [Take 1]", "Don't Let Him Fool Ya," and "1999 [live]"). So, they'll probably do something similar, spread out over the course of the months.

I'll bet it's off the live set to showcase the breadth of the release.

. How dare you doubt the expertise of Michael Howe and assorted people coordinating this project! /sarc . So I'm glad you noticed. I hoee we can find some heir address info in the judicial papers to inform them of these issues impairing their pocket... Other address info for Howe, WR or others is also welcome.

But, don’t you think with the 7” singles set dropping in August...and being it has both versions of “Witness” on it...they’d release that second version as the next single to coincide with that release?

Wait...first, people complained about the packaging not fitting on a shelf. And now, were complaining about songs being included where they shouldn’t be instead of being excited about getting to hear them in pristine quality?? Talk about an heir of entitlement...😒

Wonderful Day could really go on either set. They explained that they wanted to include the Dream Factory and Crystal Ball tracks. I think it's inclusion is justified. If it had been omitted I would have also understood. The big problem song is All My Dreams. That belongs on both for sure

We are in the era of streaming services. People can put together their own playlists. There's really no reason to include the same song on two releases unless it is different in some way. [Edited 7/2/20 10:43am]

Matt Everitt’s interview with Michael Howe (well part of it) was on today’s Shaun Keaveny’s BBC 6 Music show in the UK (at about the 1 hour 44 minute mark on the link below). https://www.bbc.co.uk/pro...s/m000khwj (log in required to listen again) Nothing new really, may be some people won’t know about how Prince wrote the lyrics to Sign O’ The Times, after waking up in LA during an earthquake and being inspired to write it from things written in the LA Times. There may or may not be something coming!

I gotta say I like those songs with "Frankenstein" mixes - particularly RoadHouse Garden. They work for me. Guess ignorance IS bliss.

Thanks, minutes before reading this I had ordered the box for €154. Quickly cancelled that order and ordered it from the Italian site now. Never made €40 so fast and easy! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

There's no mention of them not releasing those because of Sony. They could have included Feel U Up, but didn't becasue as Howe mentioned, the master for that recording is already released. I think they're including Crucial because it's longer, and different enough from what was released by Prince. Everything else on Crystal Ball are very slight variations. It's true, you can't make an exact copy of those unreleased albums, but the time and place to release those album specific tracks, are on releases of those actual albums, hopefully at some point after SOTT SDE is sold out, and OOP.

Yep...that's on me I guess !!!

Probably cuz Prince only saw fit to release a snippet of Crucial whereas Crystal Ball was the definitive mix.

One part of the Sign o the Times experience that is missing from the box is an aftershow recording with Madhouse. The complete "New Morning" club recording or the set at "the Fine Line" would certainly would certainly make for a nice record store day surprise

Yes, that´s a great idea. However, what I miss the most in this set , and it is my only complaint, is that we won´t get a full SOTT concert on DVD. I mean so far we have video of almost every show at least as a bootleg video, or even an official release, except for the SOTT tour. Most bootleg footage that I´ve seen from that is in poor or mediocre quality. I understand that there are copyright and quality issues but still, the set just feels incomplete to me without a full SOTT show. The concert movie is great, and the NYE show at Paisley is pretty good, too, but still.....it would´ve been nice to have a DVD of the proper SOTT show. Then again, I guess if there was decent quality live material from that tour then Prince wouldn´t have had to reshoot most of the SOTT movie at Paisley Park. ^ That raises another interesting point We know that a big chunk of well lit film was shot at the Chanhassen Dinner Theartre for pickups and closeups without an audience. I wonder if there was a complete run through of the set? Even if it were only a few songs it would make a cool extra and might not be "copyright owned" as part and parcel of the SOTT film.

Oops, my bad. I thought it was filmed at Paisley. Been a long time since the last time I read the credits.

I really don't under stand why some of you completely fail to understand the basics. . 1. According to Michael Howe just about anything connected to the movie is unavailable due to the rights being a massive clusterfuck. That apparently includes the audio recordings of any of the three dates used in the movie, so it seems they tried to get the rights to use one of them as the source for the live recordings on SOTT SDE, otherwise why would he even know. Which means that the recording we're getting might not be up to the best technical standards. . 2. The movie does not contain any significant footage filmed in Rotterdam or Antwerp. 90/95% of the movie is phony footage filmed at PP or elsewhere (i.e. the UGTL video). . 3. Despite the claims of some I very much doubt the footage filmed in Europe was good enough. The few bits of it stand out in the Blu-ray, as they have heavy grain. . 4. The lack of quality WRT the movie footage is completely irrelevant when it comes to VIDEO footage of other SOTT tour dates. It is entirely possible that one or more dates were filmed professionally with multiple VIDEO cameras (not talking about consumer hardware, talking about PRO hardware). However, no such footage has ever leaked and there are AFAIK no (contemporary) reports of such footage being shot at any of the dates. (Then again, that 1999 concert video was a complete surprise as well, IIRC.) I don't think those shows used video screens, so no video filmed for those exists. Our best hope of "genuine" concert footage is the kind of video made for Prince's post-show review, which is most likely done by having a single camera at the mixing desk. But if that exists and if there is a tape with such footage in the vault, who knows what state it is in and whether this is even watchable for non-hardcore fans. . The real frustating bit is of course that whatever footage etc. there is of those final three shows that were taped for the movie, it is apparently off-limits to anyone. Because the recent German Blu-ray made it painfully clear that all they had access to was the movie and the handful of promo photos they used. Which means that whatever else is in the vault from those three dates will likely remain unseen unless some rich benefactor turns up to untangle the rights mess (i.e. pays the right amount to the right people). © Bart Van Hemelen
