Battle of the Irresistible Bitches! - which is your fave version of the 2?

Of course the 2 being:

B-Side version - slowed down, deep vocal, sinister, angry OR...

Newly released version - far more poppy, funky, upbeat .

Mine ? - B-side by a mile...something about the bell & backing vocals!

B-Side for the "oh oh oh-oh" backing vocals....but the synth line and vocals in the Demo medly version are fire.

The B-side by a small margin.

But I really like the humor and funkiness of the new release.

The B-Side sounds like a finished product and the darker theme, drum work and background vocals make it classic Prince in my book. Nothing sounds like it!

I'm gonna cheat and vote for the live version with the funky guitar lick from the Syracuse show

No question - the B-side made this song into a classic. If the demo had been released, it would've just blended in with the crowd.

Nobody mentioning the version that he played live? I love the Syracuse version... (check the Purple Rain deluxe video disc)

.

For me, all three versions are good and my preference depends on mood of the day.

B-Side for sure!! I only wish there was an extended version of it. I think it fades out too early with the "everybody...everybody dance...everybody...".

Love the raw sound of the 1999 SD version. It is a shame though that they didn't segue Feel U Up into Irresistible Bitch, because that is how it was intended, and, even the versions they chose for 1999 SD, would segue together perfectly as they have the same synth line going throughout.

I actually sequed them together myself and it sounds fantastic.

Ideally I'd have the vocal of the B-side and the music of the demo version smile

I'd have to go with the b-side version. That said - Glad the original version has finally been released in studio quality.

I never really liked the b-side version and always loved the original version.

The BSide will always by my Fave...bare bones inventive funk, cleverness and humor. One of my Top 20.

Like most of these alt versions, Irresistible B really shines a light on P’s incredible songwriting. These brilliant songs are the star.

The originally-released version by a country mile.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

It is hard comparing a song against itself for most I would think. Even if the 1999 SD is better, folks have been listening to the other one for 35+ years, so usually the first version is always the preferred version in this scenario I have found, be it resistance to change, just what you are used to, etc. In many cases, after some time, you see opinions start to change.

I love them both, but I truly do prefer the 1999 SD version, and I have been listening to the B-side since it came out.

We are so lucky as fans to get alternate versions of these previously released songs.

The released B side bell one. That other scratch voice one is simply nonsense to me. Hey, did I ever tell yall the story how Prince backed me up on drums as I sang this one?

They're almost different songs, as far as I'm concerned. And, yes, the live version is yet another very different version. Very funky. I love it. But if I had to choose: the released B-side.

Only after hearing it on the offical released 1999 deluxe version, and after I recently spun the 12" record maxi-single of "Jerk Out", did I realize, he retooled that original harsh version of Irresistible Bitch, took off the vocals, and made it into Jerk Out, (cowbell?)block percussion, changups and breakdowns and all.

I noticed this is not yet logged anywhere.

which version of Jerk Out are you refering to? I don't hear it in any of the versions I know. The version of Pandemonium really isn't, not even the drum track. So... I would really like to hear it, but I don't. Could you be mistaken?
