So, are Vagina and Possessed the ‘sexually daring’ tracks?

if it is the one with Pussy getting wet and putting up a fuss... but wait? They said it was from 82?

so it is not known!?

What happened to The Violet Reality saying they heard from a source Jerk Out was going to be on the 1999 Deluxe?

Guess they decided not to include that..

Now we're talking!! biggrin

I haven't checked but it seems they've included almost all the single atlt. mixes, edits and even the video versions, which is something I deplored they hadn't done with PR Deluxe. On a first glance one is still missing, though, i.e. the 12'' version of 1999, incorrectly dubbed "Album Version" but, of course, not fading into LRC (it's not listed on Princevault BTW, but it exists, it's listed on my site and it even, sadly, replaced the real album version on the streamin platforms versions of the album). This omission is sad, but there's great progress nonetheless.

The outtakes will be contemporary mixes, as with most songs on Originals but if, this time, there is no other alteration whatsoever, and if the engineer really attempted to reproduce the original mixes (when available) and respects the overall sound Prince had back then, I can live with it given that most fans understandably prefer better sounding vault mixes than cassette mixdowns as on PR Deluxe. It's be nice to one day make those cassette mixdowns available digitally as well, but that's a wish for another decade I guess.

The DVD will be interesting because I wonder if it's multi-angle, given that all the pro-shot shows we have from this era is one angle. Or was that the show filmed for the Second Coming film? (too lazy to check now).

As for the choices of outtakes, I'm perfectly happy with it, given that it's not supposed to be a "comprehensive studio sessions" boxset, I don't really care that they kept this or omitted that as long as we get 2 CD's of previously unreleased music.

So as far as I'm concerned, this may not be entirely perfect, but it sounds truly exciting.

No doubt due to the rape lyrics. It makes sense not to add those songs regardless of how beloved they are. That doesnt take away from the grandeur of this release. So there it is. Nobody else has to make 789 posts comments about those two songs that arent on the set.

Completely agree that it doesn’t take away from this epic release. you don’t think these 2 tracks we’ll ever receive an official release? Someone commented early that they were being saved for a standalone Vault release. But I’m hoping for a stand-alone single release that doesn’t link the tracks directly to this new album release. That way people can choose whether to purchase a track with rape lyrics or not.

I cant see the song being released with those lyrics. Not that we arent grown-ups to understand his meaning of being so crazily lustful etc but maybe because the powers that be may think it would tarnish his legacy. Yes, I know he did Sister and that should be ribald enough to be worrisome but in the past decade, the rape lyrics seem to have been discussed ad naseum making it more controversial than it needs to be, putting it on a socially aware pedastal warning more than it needs to be. And in this current culture? Sheeit, good luck with that being released with the original lyrics. I can 'maybe..'maybe' see what you stated hearing about a stand alone vault release with warts and all as a testament to the mans whole body of work and how far he was willing to almost go early in his career (I say almost because he never did release the song but did release Sister..maybe he felt Sister was enough for him to get him the envelope to push as enough for the publics eye) but hey..even Guns N Roses didnt include their n-word controversial One In A Million to their superdeluxe release last year.

With the moral politics going on these days, I doubt those songs will be released.

.

For any record company this wouldn't be worth the headache. As much as I hate the fact that these songs are too hot for comercial release, I actually don't blame Warner Bros for their decision. It would have been nice for them to have had the balls to release it, but it's not their fault.

.

I guess the best we can hope for now is a crystal clear leak. Given how long these songs have already been in circulation I doubt a good quality upgrade is likely. sad

I agree. But surely a warning a la 'La La La He He Hee' - instead of Highly Explosive, It could say Highly Offensive. Now I am Kidding, but for 2 such great tracks to not see the light of day (officially) its a bit sad! But have no doubt, I will eventually get over it (when they leak in perfect quality). Someone also did mention to fade it our near the 6 minute mark, which to be honest, would be better than nothing.

Ok this is great BUT... It is absolutely unexcuseable to NOT include EXTRALOVEABLE on the 1999 Deluxe.

But I guess the estate doesn't want any drama with the RAPE lyrics in this day and age especially with the Me Too movement going on.

I agree but my thought is they could have started a fade at 5:45

NO FADE!

Agree, but isn’t a Studio quality Fade better than no studio release at all? Prince was all about controversy and pushing the envelope back then. Why not release something that reflects the time period it’s from. It would certainly put him back in the news albeit for highly controversial reasons. OK that’s my last comment on the topic(I think)

Woww... so thrilled!

Of course disc 2 is unlistenable with all the boring edits. Who would want to listen to an edit of 1999 two times in a row, one in stereo one in mono? same for Let's Pretend... Anyone besides DataBank? smile

I will create my own disc 2, with the b-sides, LRC dance mix and outtakes omitted from the box.

$70 is alot to ask when Purple Rain Deluxe was $25. Nearly three times the price for an additional From The Vault disc and an uncirculating soundboard.

I hope that's the MSRP and it will drop to something more reasonable near launch.
