Why the bullshit edits again? Didn't we complain enough about the PR Deluxe inclusion? Jeez...

.
I hang out at superdeluxeedition.com for news about physical releases from my non-Prince interests. Over there, collectors get super frothy over the inclusion of rare versions and complain when (on a release like this) the collection of edits/remixes is not exhaustive.
.
Ultimately, different people want different things and it’s not always possible to please everyone 100%.
.
Personally I think they’ve done pretty well here, with a good mix of released edits/versions, 2 discs of unreleased tracks/demos and two different live shows (rather than just including the audio for the same show which I’ve seen som3 sets do). This works for me biggrin

These things will always leave out some track or other that someone wanted in there - and I love Extraloveable just as much as the next person, but I cannot BELIEVE anyone is complaining about this deluxe set.

Finally things are beginning to pick up speed and take shape - 10LPs !!!! YES!!!! THAT'S what I'm talking about. This is exactly what a Super Deluxe Edition of a Prince album should look like.

This looks like an AMAZING set. Of course the edits are going to be on there. Where else should they live?

Let's just hope that the mastering is up to the standards of the recent Sony reissues, then we'll be in for a real treat. Sony have set the bar very high indeed this year.

Massively looking forward to this! I thought I was pretty well covered in terms of boots from this era, but there are several tracks on this set that i've never even heard of let alone heard.... Can't wait.

My guess for leaving off Lust U Always be might this from Prince Vailt, “The song [Lust U Always] paraphrases some lyrics from Annie Ross's song Twisted”. And I’d think Extralovable’s lyrics were the reason it wasn’t included. Maybe they’ll be on the Target and Japanese bonus editions!

Extraloveable is a pretty big omission, but I'm otherwise happy with this. Let's hope Extraloveable is included on a future release. Probably my favorite bootleg song of all-time except for Love Thy Will be Done (Great Gatsby Vesion), which I have never even heard, but I know is the holy grail in the vault.

Officially announced from the Prince estate, the release is NOVEMBER 29

It appears the deluxe edition will have the same metallic cover as PR DELUXE.

On November 29th the Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Records, will reissue Prince's landmark album 1999, remastered for the very first time, along with 35 previously unreleased tracks from Prince's legendary vault.

Considered one of the most iconic and influential double albums in rock history, #Prince1999 was released at a major turning point in the Prince's career. After years of struggling to break out of the R&B charts, he scored major crossover hits with "Litt...

I was bored so I figured I'd compile all the Princevault entries on the songs included on the vault discs.

Feel U Up was initially recorded in sequence following Irresistible Bitch in late 1981 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Money Don't Grow On Trees is an unreleased song recorded in early 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It may have been written for an album by The Hookers (the group that evolved into Vanity 6), but there is no known recording other than Prince's.

Vagina is an unreleased track recorded in late 1981 or early 1982, at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. If the song was recorded prior to January 1982, it is likely that it was recorded for The Hookers line-up of Jamie Shoop and Susan Moonsie, or as a demo recording by Prince only, but this is unverified. The song is not known to have been included on any configuration of the Vanity 6 album. Engineer David Z. Rivkin has described the track as "obscene".

Rearrange is an unreleased song recorded possibly in the fall of 1981, likely in his Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It is not known if the song was intended for his next album (which would turn out to be 1999). In 1988, however, the track was pulled out from the vault and remixed at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Again, it is not known what the intention behind this was.

Bold Generation is an unreleased song recorded on 11 January 1982 (the same day as Gigolos Get Lonely Too and You're All I Want) at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California, during recording sessions that yielded tracks for The Time's second album What Time Is It?.

Colleen is an unreleased instrumental recorded on 15 January 1982 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California during recording sessions for The Time's second album What Time Is It? (the day after International Lover and The Walk, and four days before Wild And Loose).

In a 2019 interview, engineer Peggy McCreary talked about the origin of the track's name, explaining that he had recorded it at the end of a session and McCreary asked what the track should be called on documentation. “He said, ‘What's your middle name?' I said ‘Colleen.' He said, ‘Name it “Colleen.” ' The song never got finished; it never had lyrics.”

International Lover Basic tracking took place on 14 January 1982 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (three days after Bold Generation and Gigolos Get Lonely Too, the same day as The Walk, and the day before Colleen), during sessions for The Time's second album What Time Is It?.

Turn It Up is an unreleased song recorded on 20 January 1982 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (the day after Wild And Loose, and eight days before resuming the Controversy Tour). The song was planned for inclusion on 1999, but was removed when Prince recorded Delirious, which Prince viewed as a similar track.

You're All I Want (a.k.a. U're All I Want or U're All Eye Want) is an unreleased song recorded on 11 January 1982 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (the same day as Bold Generation and Gigolos Get Lonely Too). Engineer Peggy McCreary talked to Jon Bream about the recording session, calling it a rockabilly song and a birthday gift to her.

Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) Basic tracking took place at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, in mid-April 1982.

If It'll Make U Happy is an unreleased song recorded on 6 April 1982 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (one day after 3 x 2 = 6). The song was recorded for possible inclusion on 1999, but it is not known if it was included on any configurations of the album.

Basic tracking for How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore took place at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California on 26 April 1982 (the day after Free, two days before Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)).

Possessed Basic tracking took place on 15 May 1983 by Prince alone at his Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota and was overdubbed a week later. This version remains unreleased.

Delirious Basic tracking took place on 9 May 1982 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (seven days after Automatic).

Purple Music is an unreleased song, recorded at some point in 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio, Chanhassen MN, USA. It is unknown if it was considered for inclusion on 1999 or any other project.

Yah, U Know is an unreleased song recorded at some point in 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It's not known if the track was intended for Prince's next album 1999, or any other project at the time of recording.

Moonbeam Levels is song recorded on 6 July 1982 (the day before Lady Cab Driver), at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California. It was released as the only previously-unreleased track on the first posthumous compilation of Prince's music, 4Ever.

No Call U is an unreleased song recorded in early 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The song is a fast rockabilly-style song in the vein of Jack U Off and Turn It Up. It is not known if it was intended for Prince's next album (which became 1999) or any other project.

Can't Stop This Feeling I Got Basic tracking took place in Spring-Summer 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, along with several other tracks that would re-appear over the next several years.

In 1982, Prince recorded an entirely new version of the track at his at Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, titled Do Yourself A Favor; according to Pepé Willie, Prince recorded it from memory and had not heard it for years.

Don't Let Him Fool Ya is an unreleased song recorded in Spring-Summer 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota

Teacher, Teacher is an unreleased song first recorded in Summer 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (along with several other tracks that would re-appear over the next several years). In early 1986, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman worked on the track further, at either Prince's Galpin Blvd Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, or the Washington Avenue Warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, adding vocals and sitar. It was included as the eighth track on the late April 1986, configuration of the album Dream Factory. It was included as the seventh track on the first disc of the 3 June 1986 configuration, but was not included on the 18 July 1986 configuration.

This looks great. Remastered original album ✔️
Edits and b-sides (standard fair and obligatory) ✔️
Vault tracks (2 disks!) excellent ✔️
Live audio and live dvd tick ✔️

I just hope Extralovable and Lust U Always are being held back for a quality outtake collection rather than legal or censorship issues.

So not a lot to moan about is there😝
