I agree with ALL of this. I was in attendance at the Vegas residency also. Jesse (whom I've seen several times live over the years) is a short man. Jellybean(whom I ran into in the lobby entrance ) is the TALLEST. So is Jimmy Jam(whom recently lost a LOT of weight and looks great). One thing about Jesse he is VERY self possessed, gifted, & a guitar God. But comes off as VERY humble on the surface. His stories about the studio sessions between Prince, him, & Morris seem truthful & revealing. Also he told me he DID NOT teach D'angelo how to play the guitar. "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."

I wish I could here this recording with my own ears rather than relying on reports. Unfortunately it seems to have disappeared... Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

- Well, whatever. - Prince is known for sometimes being a real asshole, just like every single one of us can be. He was obviously human, right ? It looks like loads of people are still not ready for stories that fill up the whole purple picture. Dig if U will... -

well, when i'd see pics of prince with morris or some of these other guys i'd think "they must be pretty short themselves, they don't look much taller than prince, prince wore the 3 inch heels which made him 5-5 most of his public life.

This highlights why as much as I want everything about Prince documented by his associates now while memories and people are still around to do it, that it may be too soon.
I have read many interviews where there is a lot of hesitation to delve too deeply into the personal matters and arguments and things that may be too sensitive for the associate. There is a lot of dignity and respect in the interviews i’ve read or listened to. Respect for both Prince and his legacy, and self respect as artists and individuals. So i do not expect too much new from the upcoming Netflix documentary. Perhaps/hopefully time will allow it all to come out without feelings of pain or disrespect and an acknowledgment that we were dealing with a historical figure that needs to be documented for future generations. That it is not about the NOW, but for the generations to come when all the memories have long died. [Edited 2/11/19 12:03pm]

depending on the person, it seems people can have some solid memories, quincy jones wrote in a lot of detail about ten years ago in his book. johnny cash seemed to have great memory for his bio. but I would tend to agree, most people do not remember much of anything, i'm always the one in my group of friends who brings up stuff that they have no earthly idea of what i'm reminding them, even thinking i'm lying until i fill in enough details and then they go "oh yea, i do remember that" one such incident happened when my best friend claimed to see prince here in seattle, i always doubted that but he was so sure of it, he'd forgotten it until i reminded him of all the details. I still don't think he saw Prince though, probably just another half-crazy lightskinned brother.

I agree
but I will say that as long as you're alive you have the chance to make things right, talk, cry, clear things up.
It's sad that Jesse didn't do his part, and it's sad that Prince waited till the end to do what he probably wanted to 10 20+ yrs ago

Thank god Quincy is still around and I love him to death now more than ever after watching his documentaries. He’s not a perfect human being, NO ONE is, I just meant that the no one lives forever. It seems like the generation that Quincy is from, like Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney are seemingly indestructible, but eventually we all pass away along with all our great insights and life stories.

wasn't arguing with you, people do forget a lot of stuff, probably, who knows? maybe 95 percent of their lives it seems, but not everyone does. Quincy is losing a step, in the past year he claimed that malcolm was selling drugs when he met him in the early 50's but in his bio he said he was "no pusher", maybe it's slipping memory or maybe he's just being more honest, hard to tell. I could see either one being true, malcolm was by most accounts clean when he left prison but that doesn't mean he may not have done a little street hustling here and there, the truth would suffice for me.

I thought that 1)Jimmy Jam & Terry NOT wanting to Tour (except for the occasional TV spot), and 2)Morris NOT wanting 2 shelve "Part-Time (remember the USA Today interview when He said "Work SMARTER not HARDER") were the reasons Jesse walked away. I remember Him saying He went out and bought Suits expecting 2 FULLY Tour behind "Condensate". Guess it wasn't "Time", which SUCKED/SUCKS!! Morris Day & The Time sounds GREAT, but ain't NOBODY bad.....like The Original 7ven!!!

Exactly! 40 years, so many people behind & infront of the camera, do people seriously think Jesse is the only one who doesn't gel with some of the others??! Lmao!! "So much has been written about me, & people don't know what's right & what's wrong. I'd rather let them stay confused." ~ Prince.

Yes, he was referring to D'Angelo & Questlove, Jesse spoke about it on the Questlove Supreme podcast last year. "So much has been written about me, & people don't know what's right & what's wrong. I'd rather let them stay confused." ~ Prince.

Which plays right into their hands, now we have Chinese whispers & people claiming they heard him say things about Terry & Morris (but no one can tell me what he said..) neither of which I could hear what with the awful quality audio & splicing in that part. reminds me of a story, my mentor, who i've mentioned many times here, was bruce lee's best friend, sometime after our relationship went sour, i read an interview where he said that he recalled bruce running after someone at his store who tried to park his car in his lot, I always wondered as egostistical as it might sound, if his brain got the memory of me and bruce mixed up because that happened when I worked for him. I could see his aging brain confusing things, in fact, he can't even remember me, one of his closest students unless people prompt him and say "you know, pete, from the store, security". And..., I hate to say it but there have been many times when I remember something i saw on video as slightly different to what it really was, if it weren't for you tube, i'd probably never be able to see that my memory isn't 100 percent either, but it's better than anyone I know. Yes they sure do. How long for? You guys have to realise that Jesse, Morris and the rest of The Time are brothers. You are allowed to talk shit about your brother or sister and nothing will change your relationship. Everyone here are talking as if your opinion matters to Jesse or Prince, it doesn't and nothing you guys say will change my affection for Jesse. He will get a pass every time. This whole discussion about Jesse and whether he should be part of the celebration is hot air. Peace 💜

I agree - here's my earlier post as I think it bears repeating.... * Hey folks - can you imagine the "trash talk" we'd hear had the conversations of Morris, Jesse, JellyBean, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Wendy, Lisa, BrownMark, Matt Fink, Sheila E, Miko...etc, etc, etc. been secretly and ILLEGALLY recorded throughout the last 40 years??!!! Come on!!!!!!!! This is just ridiculous. * The conversation was deceptivley and illegally recorded - period, end of discussion. It would never be permissible as evidence in a court of law as recordings can be edited and "doctored", and legal action can also be taken against someone who records conversations without the participant's knowledge. * Regarding the April celebration....I have no doubt that every single associate performing at that event has talked "trash" about Prince during and after their time with him. Hell, they've even discussed grievances "on the record" in the past. Prince was an extremely gifted musician, but also complicated and often very difficult to work with - we all know this.
* I think many are forgetting that it seems Jesse saved Prince's ass back in 1984 after Monte, Jimmy, and Terry left the band, and Morris had refused to work with the new players. He went in and took over to teach the new guys for the film. No doubt Prince helped him and the others get into the business, but it seems he also took more than he gave at times. He wanted full control, and also the main spotlight, which does not leave room for growth under his umbrella. [Edited 2/12/19 6:08am]
