I don't know, he rarely wrote songs that stood out as bad, usually his worst were just forgettable. Even with Purple and Gold I could see what he was going for, not what anyone wanted from him but he didn't necessarily do a bad job at it. Hot Summer stands out for me as something that should never have been released.

My Name Is Prince, I LOOOVE this track, great video, brilliant with Prince dancing in that water... nice outfit chainhat, symbol gloves... excellent, I have so many memories I was in spain and saw the video on a restaurant (via MTV), I was in awe, bought the tape AND the CD on this holiday, playing the tape in my Sony walkman (long before cd-walkman and before Mp3 of course).


I have no idea why the song is so hated by many, I really enjoy the bragging lyrics, brilliant and self ironic, I like that Prince loved himself so much, and the smaller kick to MJ (No kings), just excellent,


the intro to the song with I Wanna Be You Lover/ Controversy/ Partyup, wow great, I love the bassline as well.


To the haters - lets' agree to disagree on this, what an amazing track and wonderful music video!

I can see where you're going but let me tell you how you're wrong...on both counts. BE MY MIRROR is of a collection of songs really, a suite, even for a soundtrack. LET'S HAVE A BABY? I'm assuming you mention this because of the, shall we say, sickly subject matter? It can't be the music. Go listen to it again and marvel at Prince's preternatural vocal stylings. I think you'll find it's far from his worst...
