I'm still baffled by what Denise meant. We all know that jellyfish are deadly; was she trying to say Prince was dangerous (to himself) and deadly? eek confused

Jellyfish are toxic and dangerous.
.
Note that she has Prince ensnared in their tentacles - the most toxic and dangerous part of them.

.
I think Vanity / Denise was possibly trying to tell us that Prince was trapped in some way or other - and it wasn't going to end well.

.
Re Lisa's comment about 'fooling around' with pain-killers for his hip. It suggests that he wasn't going about things in an entirely sensible way - possibly self-medicating rather than doing things properly, getting medical attention, etc.
.
Jellyfish.

.

Maybe Denise was using the jellyfish as a metaphor to suggest (like you said) that he was tangled-up (caught-up) in something bad (or someone) bad? It could have been a metaphor for his dangerous overuse of prescription drugs? We just don't know...a big mystery. I guess she was cryptic too, like Prince? confused

Or maybe some people are reading way to much into stuff. Every little thing now is being dissected to death.

I agree. Sometimes people post things without an agenda or some deep, secret meaning. It could just be an inside joke between the two of them.

I don't necessarily agree, given what we know about Denise's penchant for making artistic statements with symbolic meaning for her and Prince. Remember the casket she created for them both? She even went on TV with it, to explain the significance and metaphorical nature of its component parts!
>
This is not a woman who simply threw images together for the heck of it: they / it had meaning. She was making a statement of some sort - and by sharing the image publicly, she wanted her audience to puzzle over it. It's part of the enjoyment of being a creator!
>
Personally, not only do I find the image itself intriguing - the timing of its release is also curious. 2014 is the point where Prince started making tantalising references to no longer touring certain places; that he'd 'meet everyone again at Paisley Park, where everything was pure love and happiness'; where he started his memoir; where he started reaching out to old acquaintances; sending emails to people abour PP becoming a museum (or even, according to some, implying he was dying); where he started making long-term arrangements for his music; where things started to change...

>

This is a man - and a woman - who told us huge amounts through their art. Prince, for one, told us that everything about him / his life was there in his music and lyrics if we cared enough to listen. Denise was clearly of a similar ilk. I find it all fascinating and I truly believe both P and D would have wanted us to make the attempt at 'dissection'. smile

Hey Dibblekins!! Good to see you, missed ya. I researched a little bit about the meaning of a jellyfish. I found this and thought it was interesting. It's a little long but gives great examples.

Very interesting! I found this page on the jellyfish (which I think was what you were directing me towards). Quite evidently, there was still a very strong emotional connection between her and Prince.

Interesting. I dont think Denise went here because this don't align with the way she ministered, but maybe. But I believe Prince might roll with this.

Hey Clover! Not long after Prince died, I came across this last post from Denise. I looked up “the meaning” of it and there was quite the discussion on it (on the org). Maybe google it, as I can’t post links at this time. The jellyfish definitely had a distinctive meaning which I’m sure if “Chocolatebox” could elaborate, would confirm. wink

.

Hey Precioux! biggrin

Thanks for the info; I will look it up!

So a private inside joke shared between just them, Denise would post on her instagram that she sells jewelery to the public, and writes she'll have autograph copies of her book. Then just leaves it permanently up, 18 mos before she passed. Really, this is what grown folks do?

I really think he needed his hip replaced. I really think he was taking the pain medications for physical pain that should have been addressed. Not his “addiction” but rather what was making him hurt and take the medications in the first place. It wasn’t and it cost him his life. I can’t help but wonder if the inability to have a blood transfusion had him refuse to have surgery that could have saved his life.

I don't know what she meant either but for the woman that she was to post something so publically and then just leave it and walk away, I'm guessing she wanted people to ask questions if not of her then of him. Seems nobody did. I never heard about until after he passed.

cloveringold, I wasn't saying that YOU or anyone on this thread was posting with an agenda or otherwise. I was commenting that Denise could have posted the jellyfish picture without an agenda or any deep, secret meaning, that it could just be an inside joke between her and Prince. Maybe he had her try little octopuses one time and she thought it reminded her of jellyfish and told him she expected those little tentacles to reach out and grab him, or maybe he ate it in front of her she told him he was living dangerously, that those tentacles could grab him. I mean, it could be anything. It doesn't have to be anything deep or have any other agenda (Denise's post).

He had hip surgery in 2010 (scar on left hip per public release by medical examiner). We don't know what type.

JWs can use blood substitutes, stock up their own blood. Besides, it's very rare that a hip surgery turns into the need for a transfusion from another person.

It’s just so frustrating...all he had to do was go to a private clinic in Switzerland or Dubai, somewhere where he could have total privacy and get one hip replaced, rehabbed and get the other one replaced and rehabbed. No one would have known. A 55 yr old woman I know just got both hips replaced at the same time, rehabbed for 3 months and is back at work brand new. Could be he was just to vain to have the scars or there was another medical issue. So sad all around

I definitely got the same vibe that you did, as I also interpreted the jellyfish as symbolizing Prince being tangled up in something bad. I'm not sure what that something bad is though.

Honestly, ther are a lot of assumptions here about the state of his hips/joints at the time of his death, and we really have no idea. The only thing we know is that he had some kind of surgery (on his hip and lower leg) likely in 2010. What happened after that -- did the surgery fail to help? Did the pain get worse or develop in other joints? Did he get ongoing medical care for hip/joint issues? -- we really have pretty much no information at all about.

I believe it was the down time, three months would probably be a new record for Orince not performing. I also suspect he didn’t exactly follow doctor’s orders about taking it slow and no 4 inch heels.

Sadly, many times, people become addicted to pain meds after surgery. Dr. Drew said that the addiction starts with the doctor's, because they are the one's who prescribe the meds, then pretty soon, the patient is addicted, and it can go downhill very fast. sad

That is a big part of the mystery. What make it difficult is that it is a medical mystery. I guess there must be some privacy where things like that are involved...odd considering the man whose privacy is protected is dead.
