Here's some snippets, for the full article a link is provided.

Revolution band member Lisa Coleman suspected that Prince had been using drugs for a decade before his death in April 2016.

“I didn't know to what extent,” she told us in advance of upcoming Revolution performances at Sony Hall on Oct. 11 and 12.

“I had heard rumors over the last like 10 years or something that he was fooling around with drugs,” Coleman said. “It was so unusual, but I knew he was in a lot of pain and he was going through a lot with his hip and that made sense to me.”

“I was shocked that it had gone so far,” she said. “It's hard to think about even the pictures that I saw of him and stuff in the last two months (of his life). ‘Hey something’s wrong. Someone give him some soup or something.’ It really freaked me out.”

what's that sound? is it the floodgates opening? I have been saying on this site for 2 years that a LOT of people knew...they thought (IMO) that they were being either supportive friends by keeping their mouths shut or they were just looking out for their own interests and didn't want to get bounced from the Purple gravy train......he also had a lifelong habit of seductively promising people in the biz (usually women) that he would mentor, enhance and launch their careers...so they had BOTH motives to clam up.

.

Yea, but Lisa is old skool -- she knew Prince from the beginning of his career, so she had nothing to lose -- she wasn't one of Prince's "new" women, i.e.; "new muse" or anything. cool

I would think that the extent of the problem would be apparent by the skinniness. But that being said, I re-read old threads on this site fromJanuary of 2016 and early days of the Piano and Microphone tour (before Moline) and no one seemed to be expressing concern on here about his health, and fans obviously knew of the rumors of him popping pills for his hip problems in 2009 and saw his weight loss as well, so maybe she had the same info fans had and just didnt do a good enough job of putting one and one together. I think he was keeping a lot of people in the dark and only trickling info was coming out. Confounding people. The times he did talk to LIsa were probably brief, cryptic, on the phone and music oriented. If he seemed fine during the conversations (and stopped contact after 2014), not sure she had the chance or know-how to broach the subject.

As for your other comment I hope you are not implying that we will get an onslaught of Me-Too movement complaints that P forced (indirectly) proteges to sleep with him in exchange for musical mentorship and careers.

I was angry when I first read this article last night (especially with her use of the words "fooling around" with drugs (bad choice of words that made it sound recreational). But I read closer and she understood his usage to be for his hips (maybe she thought he should have just gotten surgery instead of 'fooling around' with drugs to deal with pain.). Anyhow, if you recall, P evenually got some kind of surgery, gained weight and was looking better around 2011. Maybe all she was saying was that P had turned to drugs (according to rumors) to deal with hips rather than his usual non-drug stance but she didn't know if he had continued to do so and didnt see an immediate threat until that is, he got real thin in 2014. But at that point, she didn't know what was going on (whether it was drugs or just not eating.)

It's all speculation, really. I think Lisa is just trying to make sense of it all, like the rest of us. I'm sure they are questioning themselves and feeling guilty for not knowing something was going on with Prince, and maybe they could have helped, or maybe not. When you lose a loved one, "guilt" is one of the stages of grieving.

Hmmm, so she heard rumors too.

.

No one was really close enough to Prince to really know what was going on in the last 10-years of his life. The only person that would know would be Kirk. I'm sure Prince confided in him regarding his hip pain. Makes me sad to think that Prince was in so much pain, even for one minute!! sad

Or one could just interpret what she said as a bad choice of words...or maybe it is foolish at all to take drugs instead of getting the hip replaced..(scar tissue removal ain't enough). However, how well he moved around during the Welcome to America tour, it would be easy for anyone looking in from the outside to think that whatever surgery he did have(tissue removal) did the trick. Unfortunately, it sounds like a short term solution.

Who knows what denise was referring to..For all we know, she was talking about Prince being ensnared in SIN due to singing sexual innuendo. She was a very religious person--possibly more so than Prince.

But but but, the story is that whilst in Atlanta ,his pills had already been switched by"forces". Then , for good measure,( and to ensure he would not escape the hand of death the next time), they set him up by pre-arranging the 'bad batch' inside PP, sent every one home, turned off/disabled the security system . All of these things increased the odds of him shoveling at least one bad one down his throat. Once he finally realized what was being done to him, he hauled ass to try to get help but only made it as far as his final resting place , the elevator.

If only he had called the cops the first time (when he was suspicious that dark forces were out to get him), he would still be here today. Shame he opted to bike ride and do a pseudo- mini show instead.

Very dark "forces" ... You know the ones on the uber right who partnered and conspired with record executives who had ties back in Palermo.

Well, Prince had walls. He didnt own a cell phone, had an email a limited number of associates probably knew, gave people the runaround, had been touring, was eccentric and cryptic to begin with, was living 1000's of miles away from many of the older associates (I remember some interview with W and L from maybe 2011 or 2007, in which Lisa stated she hadn't been to PP since 1988. Wendy had been there more recently), was entrenched in disputes with the Family and The Time. I remember reading interviews with folks who were trying to get info on P at the time when his health looked bad but had to ask to someone who know someone who knew Prince. He was surrounded by younger people who knew only recent version of him (in other words if his disposition was different than typically known they may not be able to sense it as easily.) Plus, he was a guy who had gone through a skinny, pill-popping year in the past (2009) and survived it. Plus his weight loss became most noticeable the last 5 months or so of his life so maybe people thought they had some time to reach him. Plus, there were the pschophants too blinded by his fame, talent and aura to see a suffering man. I wonder how many tried to contact him or ask around when the plane went down in Molene. I remember reading that the search warrants shows there were definitely concerned emails to his account. I think the problem is that he needed a more forceful personality to shake him up, to get him to take care of himself. It sounds like Kirk and Meron let him down. There is another problem--quality of life. How do we know how bad it was for him. Maybe his liver was shot and the pain was so unbearable that his time was limited and therefore the people who knew better just decided to let him live with ease from suffering -- that is until other alternatives (pain/addiction) specialists became an idea. Another problem is that direct opposition could mean losing one's job. That's not an excuse for being indifferent to his suffering, but it might a factor in how one approaches the problem. Maybe, people were trying to do both at the same time -- keep their jobs and subtlely try to get him help and it just wasn't working. the bigger tragedy might be that Prince himself was too scared to let the more powerful/iindependent folks in his life or past know how bad he was suffering. Maybe he thought they wouldn't really care..Some might not have cared, but many might have. Its hard to ask for help if you think a majority of the people might exploit your suffering or be indifferent. But it is worth trying for the two or three (or more hopefully) who would care enough to help.

Interesting. Realistically, I think Prince probably took few to none of those Percocets. The reason: I doubt his plane OD was on Percocet, because it would take an awful lot of 5mg Percocets to trigger a severe OD. And the rest of the week, it seems that he was in withdrawal (i.e., no or extremely minimal opioids) until ODed fatally on fentanyl (i.e., not legit percocets).

benni said:

The maximum that can be prescribed is a 30 day supply, with most opioids being given every 6 to 8 hours. (And that is for chronic pain.) For acute pain, it's a 5 day supply, I believe. So it's possible a prescription of 90 to 120 pills could have been written, but it's highly doubtful, if there were only 10 pills left. It's also possible that Kirk just gave Prince 10 pills out of the prescription written for him and that's why they were in a different bottle.

My son takes a controlled medication and his dad and I have to divide them up between the two households. If we don't have a spare bottle with the actual medication name on it, along with the miligrams, we'll put it in a different bottle and label it with our son's name, medication type, miligrams of each pill, and directions for taking them. I doubt other people do that because they probably just don't think about it. But we do it because if we're ever pulled over taking it to the other parent's home, we want to make sure that it's labeled, but also because we want to make sure that he is taking the right medication.

Huh. Just found this too:

Percocet Overdose – How Much Is Too Much?

The reason people abuse Percocet is for the narcotic oxycodone that helps manage pain. But Percocet only contains 2.5-10 mg of oxycodone and between 325 – 650 mg of acetaminophen, the active ingredient of Tylenol. Both can cause serious toxicity in the body. Percocet abuse will always pose the risk of death and overdose. This is why Percocet should only be taken in the doses recommended by your doctor. Snorting, injecting, chewing, or crushing Percocet increases your risk of overdose.

Acetaminophen overdose – More than 1000 mg of acetaminophen at one time won’t kill you, but will cause chronic liver damage if taken habitually. But at doses higher than 4000 mg per day, the acetaminophen in Percocet poisons you, causing severe effects such as vomiting and abdominal pain. More than 7000 mg of acetaminophen can kill you.

Oxycodone overdose – It’s also possible to overdose on the oxycodone found in Percocet, but this requires taking enough Percocet that you’d be having issues with the acetaminophen already. It takes about 40 mg of oxycodone to overdose if you haven’t taken the medication before. At the lowest strength of Percocet, you’d need over 16 pills for the oxycodone to be dangerous, but you’d be well over the daily limit for acetaminophen poisoning and would need immediate medical attention.

Percocet Overdose Complications

The most dangerous complication of Percocet overdose is liver damage. It may take up to 12 hours for symptoms of Percocet overdose to occur, which is one reason Percocet abuse is so dangerous. You can experience Percocet OD symptoms as minor as stomach pain or as serious as a coma. But Percocet overdose needs to be treated immediately, to avoid potential liver failure and subsequent death. And by the time you notice symptoms, permanent damage may have already been done to your liver.

There is no way the plane incident occurred 12 hours following the concert. Wasn't it reported that he had taken the percocets after he finished the concert? In order for him to have OD'd on the percocets, he would have to have taken much earlier in the day. Wouldn't he?

Thank you for posting information as to how it would be more likely to OD on the acetaminophen in Percocet than the oxycodone as I stated this a while back without a link.
He would've had to have taken much more than 2 Percocet to OD. Without sedatives such as alcohol or complications such as severe allergic reactions, it is extremely unlikely his Moline OD was caused by Percocet.
Part of why I've believed Moline OD was Fentanyl. But can't prove it.

If you wanna stir the pot. My question is why were those pills still around after the Moline incident, especially if Kirk was able to get him a legit prescription of a similar med?

.

Stir the pot? I'm only trying to have a conversation about something that is of importance, if anyone cares to discuss.

.

I find it odd that all those pills were laying around PP after the Moline emergency....very odd, and I have no idea why Prince would do that. Kirk knows exactly what was going on with Prince, because he had Rx for Percocet written in his name and was giving them to Prince. This is why Kirk hired a lawyer, because he's not going to answer questions.

Fentanyl was not the cause of what happened on the plane.

That's why people need to pay close attention to the narrative of what happened.

Fentanyl did not show up on the medical reports before the autopsy and the autopsy showed that there was no long term use prior to the fatal dose.

When you realize this you will start to get real upset.

Please provide proof of the above statements. Please also include proof that the Moline OD was due to him mixing Percocet and cold medicine.
Your earlier statement that Percocet & cold meds was erroneous. Please check your source - it's wrong.

I'm kidding - but, Lord knows, stranger things have been said on here!!!

I don't find ANYTHING about Prince's addiction funny or something to joke about. Especially since many of the details are not known or solved. mad

Apologies for making you upset - I'm one who finds dark humour a useful coping mechanism.

I'm still baffled by what Denise meant. We all know that jellyfish are deadly; was she trying to say Prince was dangerous (to himself) and deadly? eek confused

Jellyfish are toxic and dangerous.

Note that she has Prince ensnared in their tentacles - the most toxic and dangerous part of them.

I think Vanity / Denise was possibly trying to tell us that Prince was trapped in some way or other - and it wasn't going to end well.

Re Lisa's comment about 'fooling around' with pain-killers for his hip. It suggests that he wasn't going about things in an entirely sensible way - possibly self-medicating rather than doing things properly, getting medical attention, etc.

Jellyfish.

Maybe Denise was using the jellyfish as a metaphor to suggest (like you said) that he was tangled-up (caught-up) in something bad (or someone) bad? It could have been a metaphor for his dangerous overuse of prescription drugs? We just don't know...a big mystery. I guess she was cryptic too, like Prince? confused

Thanks for providing links. Not sure how old these links are, but in 2012 (I believe)- there was a law passed limiting the amount of acetaminophen in pain pills to no more than 325 mg. Which would be even less of a chance for acetaminophen toxicity as well as even more reason to believe Moline was due to Fentanyl. Percocet OD’s can usually be resolved with one narcan shot-fentanyl is usually 2...which is what has been stated in several articles.

Mulefunk, you're made many claims about things being in the autopsy etc. We've all seen the public autopsy summary and it makes no mention one way or the other of Prince's history with fentanyl (or any drug). Are you claiming you've seen that info in the full autopsy? if so, how did you access that document?

-

As for "fentanyl not showing up in the medical reports before the autopsy," which of his medical reports have you accessed and how? Or did you get that info from this AP article that states: "Tests on Prince prior to his death did not show fentanyl in his system, which means he wasn’t a long-time abuser of that drug, but likely took the fatal dose sometime in the 24 hours before he died, the official said.

The official did not elaborate on those tests." That's not exactly the same thing.

Yet you believe the same sources that leaked this information to the AP?

The same sources that are leaking their information to the AP leaked their information to me.

Yet no one is questioning the sources from the AP?

No one is asking WHY did it take a year for the mainstream media to follow up on the KTSP report revealing the same information about the levels of Fentanyl in the man's system.

According to one of those sources the hair sample revealed no long term use of Fentanyl in his system and also according to that source they were looking for those traces after the discovery of the Fentanyl in those pills.

The same people who question what I and others have posted on this subject want to paint the druggie Prince angle that is appearing in these so called documentaries appearing on these cable channels.

Now a real reporter would know that you don't reveal sources.

You stated “according to one of those sources the hair sample revealed no long term use...”

NO ARTICLE OR SOURCE EVER STATED A HAIR SAMPLE WAS TESTED...hence my statement concluding that UNLESS a hair sample was tested and tested SPECIFICALLY for fentanyl- there was no way in hell anyone would’ve known to even look for fentanyl, being the narrative according to KJ was “Percocet”.

Are you just making shit up as you read others (my) comments and theories???

Hey Clover!

Not long after Prince died, I came across this last post from Denise. I looked up “the meaning” of it and there was quite the discussion on it (on the org). Maybe google it, as I can’t post links at this time. The jellyfish definitely had a distinctive meaning which I’m sure if “Chocolatebox” could elaborate, would confirm. wink
