It would seem obvious Prince did not really care about the preservation of his work due to: 1. The state of storage conditions at PP. (I live in MN and suspected such was the case. MN has a damp environment especially in the basement areas of structures. I have to run a dehumidifier year 'round in my home's lower level to avoid mold and mildew formation.) 2. He said numerous times he does not live in the past. He moves on. When he's done with something he's done and doesn't look back. So i wonder why he saved everything in the first place? Or he was bluffing all along and there was nothing important in the vault, in his opinion.

There were 20,000.00 items taken away. Do you think they all were damaged? He kept stuff for his museum which he talked about 20 years ago and while not all of the tapes are going to be salvagable I bet many are fine and we the public are going to have vast selection of stuff to look at and listen to. Nelson's for generations will have income.

If it was 20,000.00 items I am sure they would not have wasted time and money carted out 20 thousand damages tapes and films.
It seems from the court docs that some items were not even in the Vault perhaps because it was full or maybe Prince was looking at the stuff himself. Some stuff was in other rooms and storage areas.
We do know that many people already said some stuff was damaged but that the vault was climate controlled at some point. Maybe the climate features broke in the last year or a while before. We will never know but I doubt it was broken for two decades. Remember Ian Boxhill said Prince did actually go into the vault and had erased stuff himself so I kind of think he was good with the stituation.
The media likes to take some small bit of info and blow it out of proportion. When we have 100s of pages of legal documents with much more info that was not even reported on.

Due to the information in the affidavits describing the extent of care and consideration Iron Mountain is giving Prince's "vault" contents there is much still intact and/or salvageable. I'm glad it's been given over to them. Whether any of us ever see or hear any of it is another question. But I ain't gonna lie - i'm quietly, patiently hoping to have my mind blown 😉 😁 It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I'm wondering how much was already digitized, or copied to other sources/formats - maybe we don't really need the original master tapes if they are housed on a hard drive.

Okay so do you think all 20,000 thousand items are damaged. Come on let us do a little thinking. Do you think the 10 albums Morris Hayes said were recorded in recent years were damaged.

Seriously? Prince and only Prince is to blame for this mess, and the poor state his vault was in also.

Few things were more associated with Prince than his fabled "Vault"...it was mythological and glorious to contemplate hundreds, perhaps thousands, of hours of unheard and/or unreleased music. Any true fan would have been left salivating at the thought.
So, was this purposeful neglect of the vault contents a big cosmic joke that Prince played on his fans? A big FU...?How hard could it have been to have an assistant call in curators and archivests and make sure things were properly cared for and catalogued? Hell, music industry professionals would have lined up to do it for free (like Sheila). It isn't as though he didn't have enough money to do things right.
So maybe the horrible condition in which Prince left his vault of treasured music, which he had referred to as his "children" was a crying-for-help indication that things were not well in his world, his mind, his emotions. The man needed all kinds of help and he never got it..
So much for fame, money and all the women you can handle...

Prince by the time he left was way above Any Kind of F...U
Why would he bother digging back into the past ? He had his eyes and heart in the future. The vault meant little to him, He left it for us to rummage through....
SO what
Prince did more than enough while he was here, more than probably 20 of US put together,

If the vault meant so little to him, why did he refer to the songs in the vault as his children?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
he Made that statement when asked which of his songs he liked the best. He answered that he had no favorites the are like his children.
NOTHING specific about the songs in the Vault which have never really been officially birthed

even with a lot of it damaged he's left us with an officially released catalogue to shame just about any major artist and the bootlegs have been in circulation for a long time, i think we have the best of what he had to offer and or a facsimile of it. who knows though, it was years after i was an elvis or springsteen fan that i found my way towards some of my favorites of theirs, so who knows, sadly, the biggest hits of an artist are usually not my personal favorites.

Here's a summary of information about the so-called vault material as of 11/17/17: . Brian Wolfe, the Manager of the Estate Administration Department at Comerica Bank & Trust, in conjunction with Angela Aycock and Andrea Bruce, supervised the inventory process at Paisley Park for the Estate. Their staff began the process of inventorying the assets on-site at Paisley Park in March 2017. They located audio and video assets in several areas of Paisley Park. The audio and video assets were not only located in the vault but also in the office or residential spaces referred to as the "Pre-Vault," "White Room," "Gold Room," "Archived Storage Room," "Studio Storage Room," and even the garage. It was apparent that there had not been an organization system in place for storing the assets, as they were not arranged by chronology or in any other discernable order, nor was there any cataloging system to account for all of the assets. None of the spaces being used for storage-including the vault-appeared to have climate control systems sufficient to preserve audio and video material. During its inventory, the Personal Representative discovered several indications of damage and degradation due to poor humidity and temperature controls. It encountered cardboard boxes that were adhered to shelves and had to be peeled off, mold and water damage on the materials, rusting film canisters, degrading film that smelled of vinegar (a sign of acetate degradation), and evidence of water intrusion on walls and ceilings in the vault and elsewhere. These conditions, as well as a report they received from a security consultant hired to evaluate Paisley Park, led them to the conclusion that the Estate's audio and video assets were not being well preserved at Paisley Park and should not continue to be stored there. . On August 6, 2017, they transferred the audio and video assets from the Vault, Pre-Vault, and Gold Room to Iron Mountain's Hollywood facility. Eric Bricker, the Director of North American Field Operations for Iron Mountain Entertainment Services, traveled to Minnesota and personally supervised the transition of the assets from Paisley Park into secure trucks. Iron Mountain sent only management-level and higher personnel to Paisley Park to assist in this process. Personnel from Comerica Bank & Trust had already cataloged all of the inventory at Paisley Park prior to transport. The inventory was loaded onto trucks out of sight during the evening to maintain the greatest privacy and security possible. The trucks were then loaded and locked with unique seal identifiers. Each truck was climate controlled and accompanied by two drivers to ensure optimal preservation conditions and the most efficient transport possible. Each truck was equipped with GPS monitoring devices so that Iron Mountain and Comerica could track and locate the assets at all times during transit. When the trucks arrived at Iron Mountain’s Hollywood facility, a representative of Comerica and an Iron Mountain representative validated and then broke the seal on the trucks. All assets inventoried by Comerica and loaded onto Iron Mountain’s trucks were accounted for upon arrival at the Iron Mountain facility in Hollywood. Comerica filmed and photographed the entire process. The majority of the Estate’s assets are now stored in a private vault, ensuring maximum privacy and security, under climate-controlled conditions designed for the optimal preservation of the Estate’s unique and valuable audio and video assets. Those assets that were identified as having degraded or suffered mold and water damage have been segregated from the other assets in order to protect the integrity of the remaining assets in the archive. . The Estate has already utilized Iron Mountain's studio to access content from the vault (i.e Prince’s Aug. 3, 1983 performance at First Avenue) to assist in its negotiation of the proposed entertainment transaction with Troy Carter, which could give one major streaming service exclusive rights to the unreleased First Avenue concert film as well as rights to make a documentary about the film. To minimize costs, the Estate plans to primarily archive and digitize audio and video content on an as-needed basis as it enters into entertainment deals in order to shift a portion of the costs to its entertainment partners. The majority of the audio and video assets at Paisley Park were transferred to Iron Mountain in August and September 2017, but it is still ongoing. They anticipate completing the transfer of assets to Iron Mountain by the end of this November.

But nowhere in the court docs does it say all. Remeber two vaults exsist. This was a report to justify removing the remaining material. It also states no system appeared to be in plance my guest is the system was in Prince's head just like the combonation.
