Brian Wolfe, the Manager of the Estate Administration Department at Comerica Bank & Trust, in conjunction with Angela Aycock and Andrea Bruce, supervised the inventory process at Paisley Park for the Estate. Their staff began the process of inventorying the assets on-site at Paisley Park in March 2017. They located audio and video assets in several areas of Paisley Park. The audio and video assets were not only located in the vault but also in the office or residential spaces referred to as the "Pre-Vault," "White Room," "Gold Room," "Archived Storage Room," "Studio Storage Room," and even the garage. It was apparent that there had not been an organization system in place for storing the assets, as they were not arranged by chronology or in any other discernable order, nor was there any cataloging system to account for all of the assets. None of the spaces being used for storage-including the vault-appeared to have climate control systems sufficient to preserve audio and video material. During its inventory, the Personal Representative discovered several indications of damage and degradation due to poor humidity and temperature controls. It encountered cardboard boxes that were adhered to shelves and had to be peeled off, mold and water damage on the materials, rusting film canisters, degrading film that smelled of vinegar (a sign of acetate degradation), and evidence of water intrusion on walls and ceilings in the vault and elsewhere. These conditions, as well as a report they received from a security consultant hired to evaluate Paisley Park, led them to the conclusion that the Estate's audio and video assets were not being well preserved at Paisley Park and should not continue to be stored there.

On August 6, 2017, they transferred the audio and video assets from the Vault, Pre-Vault, and Gold Room to Iron Mountain's Hollywood facility. Eric Bricker, the Director of North American Field Operations for Iron Mountain Entertainment Services, traveled to Minnesota and personally supervised the transition of the assets from Paisley Park into secure trucks. Iron Mountain sent only management-level and higher personnel to Paisley Park to assist in this process. Personnel from Comerica Bank & Trust had already cataloged all of the inventory at Paisley Park prior to transport. The inventory was loaded onto trucks out of sight during the evening to maintain the greatest privacy and security possible. The trucks were then loaded and locked with unique seal identifiers. Each truck was climate controlled and accompanied by two drivers to ensure optimal preservation conditions and the most efficient transport possible. Each truck was equipped with GPS monitoring devices so that Iron Mountain and Comerica could track and locate the assets at all times during transit. When the trucks arrived at Iron Mountain’s Hollywood facility, a representative of Comerica and an Iron Mountain representative validated and then broke the seal on the trucks. All assets inventoried by Comerica and loaded onto Iron Mountain’s trucks were accounted for upon arrival at the Iron Mountain facility in Hollywood. Comerica filmed and photographed the entire process. The majority of the Estate’s assets are now stored in a private vault, ensuring maximum privacy and security, under climate-controlled conditions designed for the optimal preservation of the Estate’s unique and valuable audio and video assets. Those assets that were identified as having degraded or suffered mold and water damage have been segregated from the other assets in order to protect the integrity of the remaining assets in the archive.

The Estate has already utilized Iron Mountain's studio to access content from the vault (i.e Prince’s Aug. 3, 1983 performance at First Avenue) to assist in its negotiation of the proposed entertainment transaction with Troy Carter, which could give one major streaming service exclusive rights to the unreleased First Avenue concert film as well as rights to make a documentary about the film. To minimize costs, the Estate plans to primarily archive and digitize audio and video content on an as-needed basis as it enters into entertainment deals in order to shift a portion of the costs to its entertainment partners. The majority of the audio and video assets at Paisley Park were transferred to Iron Mountain in August and September 2017, but it is still ongoing. They anticipate completing the transfer of assets to Iron Mountain by the end of this November.

But nowhere in the court docs does it say all. Remeber two vaults exsist. This was a report to justify removing the remaining material. It also states no system appeared to be in plance my guest is the system was in Prince's head just like the combonation.

You do know that Prince was a human, right?

Just HOW MUCH material did Prince leave? I sure would love to hear all of this unreleased music and see all of these unreleased videos some day. Prince was a genius and had so much to give. Obviously, he wanted it to be seen and heard.

That's what surprised me most. That there were audio and visual assets outside the vault, all over Paisley. That some were found in the garage disturbs me.

I think that's obvious on the surface but people here would rather believe all the things he said and allowed others to say as they touted the importance and sacredness of the materials the Vault rather than follow the dictum we've all been taught from childhood ('home training' anyone?): actions speak louder than words.

Did Prince preach as much reverence for the vault as fans & others have? Maybe he didn’t care as much about this as others do. We’ve been told he was working on making PP a museum and he left detailed instructions on how he wanted things, I have yet to hear anyone from the Estate or Iron Mountain say he left detailed instructions for vault material.

Exactly...he didn't care to preserve it even for historical purposes. So to allow his fans to believe it contained inportant things of artistic merit, as Susan Rogers attested, was rather sly of him. Would love to know what Susan Rogers thinks of the deterioration of all that work product.

i wouldn't be surprised, big business is so damend sheisty, jimi hendrix's kin would have never won back everything his father naively signed away had it not been for a deep pocketed billionaire who helped out. One thing is universal however,, there are always heroes and villains in these stories. Jimi's step sister has control of his estate today and pretty much everyone hates her.

one thing that is very interesting is how much love Prince garnered after his death, for a guy who was usually distant from everyone, that's a strange reaction and just shows how he touched people. For whatever reason, the sharks seem to be keeping a little distance out of some sort of respect.

Well it seems like the one thing Tyka and Omarr are involved in is Paisley Park. And Tyka indicated they’re working on other things around music education. So maybe Paisley will become part studio/education center and part museum. Who knows. But I actually have more confidence in Paisley Park staying afloat than what becomes of the vault music.

I see the elders selling out asap. Tyka and Omarr are younger and may not see things the same way as the elders. I have a lot of confidence in Tyka but I can not pinpoint a specific reason why. Time will tell.

Too much of everything else is too vague. Sounds like everything is still being assessed and is up in the air. Yes, Tyka said she's going to open a school but she didn't say PP would be a part of that goal, we are just naturally assuming it because that's the fantasy of the fans myself included. I'm sure the museum itself will stay afloat but not remain under the ownership of the heirs.


We will see which is all we can do.
