I wasn't a part of that, though I did try to join ages ago, and I agree completely with any moaning about the sampler sets. On paper, you would see a setlist and think, jesus h christ this is a must see set! And then...you get to the show and P only plays a bar of this song, two of that one, etc...fucking annoying.

People started expecting way too much from Prince with disregard for him moving on. But kept buying the albums.

Some may see it as nasty, some may see constructive criticism. I'm not sure why Prince should escape that. There are fans who accept anything and fans who wanted better from him because he was more than capable. People pay to see Prince, not some female none singer butcher 'Paisley Park' like on his last UK tour.

It's arguable the last bold setlist he did for a tour was ONA, less hits etc. After that, Musicology onwards, back to the familiar songs. It's obvious why, he couldn't do 21 nights in a large arena and do Rainbow Children songs. Not fair on the paying casuals I suppose. I had my fair share of the best gigs from him, so can't complain (apart from the Raspberry Beret/Take me With U medley again?!), but can see why some people did. and now they wish they could complain just one more time. Myself included about that bloody medley which i would dearly love to hear in a live setting just one more time. But...yeah.

I don't know that I became really vicious, but I def became really disillusioned with Prince after "Housequake" shut down, Uptown magazine went under, Larry Graham became Prince's spiritual guru and, for me the last straw was 20Ten not being released in the US at all. I was so angry. After Larry Graham, I didn't like some of what Prince was doing--self-censureship worse than anything WB ever imposed. The brilliant album The Rainbow Children would have been much better as an instrumental album... I had a bunch of complaints! Financially, it became harder to stay up with everything too.

I got past it before Prince died. I bought Lotusflw3r when it came out, and everything after as it was released. I def regret some things I probably said---though I think the extent of my negativity was prob saying things "suck" now. I got over being angry, but those really were tough times when it felt like Prince was actively trying to alienate fans at Uptown mag and Housequake.com. I am glad that was long over by 2016. (I never felt Prince's music, playing or singing ever suffered or was less than stellar. The lyrics, however, sometimes went much too religious in a specific way, and the self-censureship, weird changes like The Cross becoming The Christ because Larry Graham told Prince Jesus was inpaled and not crucified.... Yeah, it was a difficult time)

Why be angry about something easily obtainable? the internet was working back in 2010. I sent three copies to fans in the USA for nothing. They were nice though. Not angry.

He has about a thousand songs. Do you expect to hear them all. Anyway he is gone now and I wish he was still performing those sampler sets. We are not going to see a performer push himself like that ever again.
