Do You Listen to Other Music Besides Prince?

In my life I've listened to tons of different genres, groups, etc. with Prince always being #1 even if I wasn't grooving on him for an extended period of time.

However, since he died it's been almost all Prince. On occasion, I think about putting something else on but it always turns into a Prince CD.

How about y'all?

95% of the music I listen to is Prince. The remainder is dominated by Ed Sheeran,
Taylor Swift, Adele, dodie, Sam Smith and Bastille - in that order.

Of course. I couldn't imagine listening to just one artist.

I have listened to something like 5000 albums in my life.

Not a bad figure.

But given that I've listened to something like 500CD's worth of Prince stuff's - officially released material, live and studio bootlegs - his stuff takes up 10% of that figure. lol

Yeah, I listen to many other artists!
Like:The Time, Sheila E., The Family, Apollonia 6, Mayte, NPG, Madhouse, Vanity 6,Eric Leeds, Jill Jones...
wink

Just kidding!
I listen to too much Prince-stuff.
Because it's just great.
But I'm glad that I enjoy other artists (like Fiona Apple and Depeche Mode for example) too...

I get in a prince wormhole all the time. Recently I've dialed up Radiohead having just seen them & the new Fleet Foxes.

I would say 85% Prince and 15% the rest: mostly indie rock (Artic Monkeys, Black Keys, Jack White, P.J.Harvey, Kaiser Chiefs, Queens of the stone age) and some old stuff (Talking Heads, Smiths, T Rex, Led Z and Black S)

Me too....

I listend to Haitus Keyote, Another Australian Band Named Willow Beats, recently it was Andy Allo SUperconductor, which I like...a lot..

but eventually I want to hear Prince...

After so many years I always notice a new layer,or some profound poetic verse

Yesterday I was tripping out on

"let me touch your Body till your River,s in Motion"

SOme of his Lyrics are so..um Picturesque smile

so 95% Prince

Only a crazy folk would listen to just one artist. Sly and The Family Stoned, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson/J5/Jacksons, Shakira, The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Bob Marley and some others.

Ever since April 21, 2016, I have listened to him more than any other artist, without question.

.

Over the past 2 to 3 months, I would say that my musical diet has consisted of:

- 50% Prince

- 30% Stevie Wonder

- 10% Bruno Mars

- 10% everything else

I love Country! My favourite Country artist is Tim McGraw. I have tickets to see him and Faith Hill when they come to Philly next month.

Since he died, it's been way more Prince than anyone else but I increasingly have days when I play other music. The diversity actually makes me get into his music more when I go back to it. Historically I have bought a new album/CD/download a week of all types of music but still listened to more Prince than anyone else in the 80s and 90s but not the 2000s.

Glad to know somebody likes country as well as Prince. Hope you have a great time at the Tim McGraw concert. I do have some music of his too!

cuz he is the ONLY one that matters.

All right?!

Of course, I'm only kidding! lol

Of course Prince is my number 1 but I dig as well:

The Beatles

The Jacksons

Terence Trent D'Arby

Bangles

Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Alicia Keys

David Bowie

Queen

Michael Jackson

Jermaine Jackson

Janet Jackson

Bill Conti's soundtracks

George Michael

Madonna

Wham!

of course Prince's related despite Mazarati that I still need to discover...

To sum up, my Ipod (160 GB) is always near by & quite full....

Lately I've been on a multi year Fleetwood Mac trip (WB take note on how to properly do reissues).

Try to stay current and have spent time with Dirty Projectors, Daft Punk, Pheonix, Arcade Fire, Chvrches. Love the new Haim.

Often go Classic Rock and crank up Floyd, Zep, Stones, Dan or 90's nostalgia and do Radiohead, Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins.

Spent years studying The Smiths and later, Belle and Sebastian.

way too much muisc in my head.
