A better version of that letter from Prince's lawyer in Billboard in 1992:

Anybody got the article he's referring to? Google books doesn't seem to have that issue.

Odd that this article upset them so much that it triggered a reaction, considering that there are others which point out the same pitfalls (e.g. Prince's sales, or the likelihood of these contractual clauses best "best scenario" cases).

Robert Christgau's 1998 book Grown Up All Wrong: 75 Great Rock and Pop Artists from Vaudeville to Techno contains an essay from 1992, called "What Are Realities of Prince Deal? Hell, What Is Reality?", that starts out on the same subject, then goes to a comparison between Prince, Michael Jackson and Madonna, vears to a kind-of review of the prince album and then looksat Prince's career.

I go back and forth on it being my favorite Prince album. Some days it is, some days it's Parade lol
