Of course...

The Beatles

Bob Dylan

The Band

Oasis

Joni Mitchell

Carpenters (Karen's voice!)

Beach Boys

The Who

Pink Floyd

Led Zeppelin

I've been listening to a lot of the Rat Pack (Frank, Dean, Sammy...) lately. A friend of mine had a live show on they did back in the early 60s at the Sands that we listen to at dinner. So great and funny! Sirious Sinatra has become a fixutre in the car. I think I am slowly turning into my dad as I get older!

Nice! I've been listening to Sinatra about 90% of the time in 2017. I've built a huge collection, including lots of great LPs. Sinatra is amazing.

Prince 85% of the time - but I also like old School stuff too - Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield - 60s stuff - etc. And I mix it up with some Beyonce, Madonna & MJ from time to time. But I always come back to Prince.................always ...................

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

For a long time last year I had a problem with music. I couldn't listen to his because it really hurt too much, but I couldn't tolerate silence. So many of my other "favorite" artists just didn't sound good to me anymore. I dug into PrinceVault.com and made a long list of songs that he had covered during his career and sought out the originals. I made a playlist that is now about eleven hours long of songs I knew he had appreciated so much that he covered them live or in studio. I discovered a lot of funky old soul, some very cool contemporaries, and some really interesting new songwriters. It gave me an entirely new perspective on who Prince was as an artist, where he came from, and what he wanted to share with all of us. It's a playlist with a recognizable Prince spin, but it's also a re-boot and a palette-cleanser when I need that.

The playlist is pretty long and I won't dump all the info on here right now, but I'm happy to report that I got a musical education over the last thirteen months. I've been listening a lot to some great tracks by: Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Odetta, Ray Charles, BB King, The Troggs, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Esquires, Jimi Hendrix, Delfonics, CCR, Gene Ammons, Jackson 5, Led Zeppelin, The Meters, The Rolling Stones, Santana, Sly & The Family Stone, The Soul Children, Tommy James & The Shondells, Cat Stevens, Chambers Brothers, Donny Hathaway, The Guess Who, The Staple Singers, Bill Withers, Billy Preston, Joni Mitchell, The Stylistics, The Temptations, James Brown, Billy Cobham, Edgar Winter Group, Kool & The Gang, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, Graham Central Station, Muddy Waters, Ohio Players, Dorothy Moore, Parliament, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan, Fuzzy Haskins, Bob Marley, Commodores, David Bowie, LTD, Marvin Gaye, Stargard, Sylvester, The Cars, Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, Instant Funk, Maze ft. Frankie Beverly, Zapp, Miles Davis, Roxy Music, The System, Denise Lasalle, The Waterboys, Janet Jackson, Tracy Chapman, Bonnie Raitt, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Salt-N-Pepa, Joan Osborne, Steve Vai, Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Sarah McLachlan, Nikka Costa, Foo Fighters, Nicole Nordeman, Amy Winehouse, Jo Hamilton, Donna Grantis Electric Band, Emeli Sandé, Alice Smith, Paloma Faith… and more.

And now it's a joy and a thrill and a pleasure to listen to his music again. I've been a fan since '84, and I'm still finding new dimensions in Prince’s performances and recordings. Hearing new leaks of shows that haven't been widely circulated helps me to discover new artists and songs that he enjoyed and that he covered and shared with us live in concerts, at PPAD events, at rehearsals and sound-checks, live in the studio, broadcast over 3rdEye TV or shared through NPG Music Club and as Ahdio Shows, on unreleased albums and cameos on other musicians' albums.

Thanks 2 all the fams and collectors, leakers and linkers, musicians and music-lovers. Thank U Prince.

P.S. Full disclosure... also been listening to a lot of Weird Al Yankovic and Ween, both of whom have had their own interesting Prince stories to tell. Check 'em out.

Not a whole lot. Kendrick Lamar mostly but still 95% Prince. No one else is of much interest right now. Thankfully since Prince was so prolific I haven't run out of great stuff to listen to. I have lots of other music on my ipod - Adele, Muse, Guns N Roses, Lynyrd Synyrd, Chicago, Simon & Garfunkel, POD, Johnny Cash, CCR, Bob Dylan, Velvet Revolver, Chevelle, Eminem, and others - but most of it gets skipped right now.

It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

In my life I've listened to tons of different genres, groups, etc. with Prince always being #1 even if I wasn't grooving on him for an extended period of time.

However, since he died it's been almost all Prince. On occasion, I think about putting something else on but it always turns into a Prince CD.

How about y'all?

I'm a total David Bowie fiend. Earl Slick is my spirit guide. Also been getting into Zappa's "You Are What You Is", though despite the going "yeah, those fundamentalist Christians in the Whitehouse what are they like?", the persistently orchestrated vocal harmonies are like 1981 autotune

Aside from Vanity 6 and Sheila E razz?

INXS, MJ, Cameo, Mel & Kim, J.M. Jarre, MARRS, and Queen just to name a few. Mostly 80s/90s in general and some synthwave every now and then. It's mostly Prince and associated artists I LOVE to listen to and I always come back to.

Plenty smile I am totally obsessive over music. If I only listened to Prince that would be weird. But no solo artist in modern era has his consistency. And none of my favourite bands have his prolificacy. Despite fact they're as good.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
