I believe disk 2 will live or die based upon the quality of source ... if the whole thing comes from bootlegs except Electric Intercourse and Fathers song (which were likely the only 2 tracks prince actually provided from his vault), I think fans will be pretty upset. A pristine Dance electric and Computer Blue would be amazing, however if its the same shitty boots we all have ... yikes.

Disk 2 on cassette would get my money in a heart beat.

What is the purpose of remastering vinyl? Mastering used to involve leveling volumes on an album so the songs are all close to the same volume. Yhese days it means compressing the living fuck out of perfectly good music until it sounds like shit but is "loud" enough to keep up with modern shitty computer pop corporate rap crap. So as your music is all the same volume when you mix tracks on your piece of shit ipod or piece of shit phone.

So why in hell does vinyl need to be remastered? There is no shuffle mode on a record player, no reason to make anything "louder". It only ruins the actual sound of the music. I don't see the point. OG PR sounds great!

I hope that you are right, but I keep reading it's the 83 version, which I always assumed is the one circulating. I love it, but I'd rather get something new...

It's the 1984 version, the one that was played in the background of the scene when Morris Day talks to Apollonia in Purple Rain. The 1983 version clocks in at around 8:40.

When does he play it by ear?

Yeah, didn't he find the sheet music the morning after he knocked over all those shelves in the movie?

He found a lot of music. It's not implied that it was the song his dad was playing the night before. The bigger note is that his father didn't write down songs, yet he actually did. It was about all the songs, not just that one.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Don't shoot me. I am a huge prince fan and love his music from every period in his life, but I don't really like father's song. It's a bit boring and sounds to me more like an old legend of zelda theme song. Sorry sad but the rest of the deluxe edition sounds pretty promising.
I wonder what the newly announced bootleg deluxe edition will have in store for us.

Wait, I haven't heard of this...anyone with more info?

RE: The version of "Possessed" on the album...I ended up Shazaming the intro to the leaked instrumental version from the movie, and it was successfully identified as the version on the deluxe set...meaning the version on the set is, indeed, the movie (1984) version w/ vocals. It also works if you Shazam the Hallway Speech version of Computer Blue.

You clearly know nothing about remastering if you think it just involves amplifying a signal.

I don't know what boots you have in your collection, but the versions of Dance Electric and Computer Blue (hallway speech version) that I have had for the past few years are excellent. About a 9.5 of 10 in terms of sound quality.

The Dance Electric from a couple of years ago was a massive improvement on what we had before but still a little rough sounding and was marked with a few skips.

Like some1 has stated few days ago....maybe the only 2 unreleased songs given by Prince with PR deluxe remaster = EI and Father 's song because their high sound quality will be maybe the only Trax from PP's Vault. ...maybe the other trax from the set are mixdown versions from WB vault with the same quality or so from the sources which are circulating since few years. ...I suspect this is the case for Trax like Our destiny / Roadhouse garden and Moonbeam levels....I hope there will not sound like an evidence for the other Trax. ...computer blue....we can fuck ..etc. ..?

VERY WRONG....louder is not better. I suggest you watch this video by Bernie Grundman. Bernie is a sound engineer who worked with Prince on Purple Rain and Micheal Jackson Thiller.

WB can only release what they have in possession at this time. We may want pristine sound and things like that, but the reality is that much of what Prince stored may not have been kept up and a lot may not be finished and mastered by him. Since there is no decision on WHO gets to master what and what can come out, they can just give us what he gave them. The Vault is at Paisley it is not at WB offices. We may debate WB putting this out now because maybe later they will have more, but maybe they will never have that chance so before things really start to fade and Prince's loyal base of fans is still here themselves, get out what you can.

Really? Because the mods keep this monstrosity of a thread going, closing and redirecting everything but the kitchen sink into it instead of using two brain cells and allowing specific albums topics into it.

...Now that's alt control fail.

Father's Song is lovely. I was just saying the other day that i wished he had made more music like this (instramental). I can't stop listening.

Lol, like that's not buried in this mess of a thread..part 3 or whatever number it's on.

It's just that honestly, we need better moderation and what we have now is nice of them, but really wtf??
