Do we know if the songs were mixed together they way they are back in 1984 or if that has been done for this release.

I have no knowledge of them being edited together. That doesn't mean they weren't, but I've never heard anyone speaking about this. It was likely cut together after 84, but this is just speculation on my part.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Thx for clarifying (I asked you earlier but I guess my post got lost in the mass), I was very interested in knowing whether you knew of it or not. I really hope someone (the liner notes maybe?) sheds some light on this. If by any chance you're still in touch with Susan and/or W&L, I think it'd be worth asking them nod

Sorry, I didn't see the earlier post. I check in on these on occasion and this one is 10 pages long so far, so I don't read every comment.

Hopefully information about the edit will come out. My guess is that when the CD is about to come out, there will be several interviews with the Revolution about the contents. Odds are, they don't recall the specifics about this specific edit. Those were really busy times and he was sometimes recording more than one song a day.

In addition, he'd often sneak over to another room and ask someone he had worked with before to do a quick edit which often didn't get documented. He'd also sometimes have 5-6 songs a day edited and when you are turning and burning like that, it is tough to remember. And that was over 30 years ago, so specifics like that may be tougher to find... although I hope they do surface!

Yes, don't worry I guess posts often get lost in the mass smile

Thx for the thorough reply hug The sheer amount of variant versions for each song in the vault must be depressingly high. I have no idea how tyhis will all be sorted out lol

Let's wait to see if more info regarding OD/RG comes our way in the next few weeks/months smile

I don't believe the full/studio is circulating at all...all I know that's out there is a piano rehearsal snippet known as "There's No Telling What I Might Do" which may/may not be Wednesday.

I don't know what the snippet is, but Wednesday is a short piano and vocal track with Jill singing. I don't think a full studio version with other instruments was ever done so the studio version only contains Jill and a piano. I don't think another version exists, but I was surprised by the studio version of Electric Intercourse so there is always the possibility of other stuff existing. That is what makes being a Prince fan so much fun.
