no need to be nice to him. sifi should get back to warners and tell them they are cunts for releasing bullshit statements and giving us 3 discs of stuff we already got and tell them where they can stick there 7"

I haven't got a remastered Purple Rain and there's quite a bit on disc 3 which I haven't got and some of the tracks I do have appear to be a different version here anyway. But even if I had the entirity of disc 3 in remastered CD quality, that's hardly anyone's fault but mine for having illegal boots in the first place. RIP

i would say this to there face. Anyone who gives so many false statements as warners should be out of business. If someone continaully lies to you would you be nice to them . We have been treated apallingly with this release and 4ever and the bluray movies set. just money grabbers. .We have had this release delayed and delayed . Then they give us is the same shit we already have. . I am normally nice to people. They are taking the piss. If they can change this release and make it better they should do it. but all the info given so far is worrying

Sifi's giving us proper information about this release, why the hell be rude to him, master?
I get where you're coming from not being happy with the reissue, this could easily be a reissue with 4CDs worth of unreleased tracks and alternate versions - but it's not too bad. No point shooting the messenger.

that is understatement. they milked the hits up to 93 for all its worth. where the fuck are the demoes beautiful ones , baby i'm a star , purpler rain extra verse, wednesday. Also they may as well have associated artist songs featured in film. and there will be more we do not know about. Yet we get nearly a whole disc of 7" edits of songs. and according to warners them 7" edits are an album of new material. In the statement they said 2 albums of new material and 2 dvds from the vault They say getting stuff from the vault. 3 out of your 5 discs are already availabe in more than good quality. i do not care abot camera angles i would have chosen a different show. They must have filmed more than one show. It does not have to be perfect. It is just boring getting stuff already got Susan rogers is a joke .If this all they can give us.
pretty much a joke release i can review this release now for you. with my exceitement level rated out of 10. 1st disc an whole 30 minutes of purple already got this slightly better quality ao give it 1/10 2nd disc 7" edits . same songs only shorter. bollocks 0/10 3rd disc a good disc no alot of the songs but they say alot different version 8/10 4th disc syracuse average show seen it already 0/10 5th disc benefit show 83 good show should be on this release as important show excitement is 5/10 but the show is excellent so no complaints. this will be in better quality than what i have.
Got everyone hyped up with bullshit press release is totally out of order. They should tell the truth . so far they have release 3 things and all they have given is extra1 track and 1 album worthwile. if they can not handle a release that should be as enjoyable for everyone they need to give control to someone else. [Edited 4/21/17 2:40am] [Edited 4/21/17 2:44am] You really are coming across all entitled aren't you? I agree (and have said so now a few times) that Warners have misled us regarding "two albums of previously unreleased material" which was a dick move and it will be interesting to see how they spin it! But this is not the garbage release you are saying. For many people this is gold dust. Not everyone is like us. Not everyone owns virtually every fart or brain dump Prince ever took (regardless of quality). As for the Syracuse show...well I have that on VHS in the loft but never had it on DVD before (all I hope is that, in addition to improving picture and sound quality, that they get rid of the split screen effect on When Doves Cry. Man that looks 80s and bad). Again as said before I agree that the single edits are a waste and I do not want them (some collectors might want all official releases in one place I guess) but CD2 having b-sides and 12inch edits is fine and as I expected with this type of release. I would have liked a couple more alternative versions such as the longer Beautiful Ones instead of single edits and maybe (if it still exists) When Doves Cry with the bass line. But how you can mark them down for CD3 is beyond me? It is a great collection of songs (some totally unexpected). You say "not a lot of songs" but have you seen how long some are? Regardless of the download generation this is being packaged onto CDs which limits it to 80mins. BTW you keep saying Purple Rain is 30mins? The album is 43mins 48secs (Ie. fairly standard 80s vinyl length) Also I agree with Englishgent no need to be rude to SiFi! P.S. So I take it YOU WILL NOT BE BUYING THIS THEN? . The only reason we're getting this is because a) Prince signed a deal with them in 2014 and b) that deal is still valid now, whilst all of the rest is locked in legal dispute. Yet here you are talking about future imaginary slights. . In-fucking-credible. © Bart Van Hemelen

The point I was making, which is perfectly reasonable, is that in the future there will be more Purple Rain releases. There is precedent for this with all record companies and artists (as you well know). Clearly rights issues and contracts need to be sorted out before ANYTHING can be released - duh! Then get upset about those WHEN THEY ARRIVE. You're dismissing this set based on those things THAT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN. The thing with you Bart is that you don't actually read all the posts (or choose to ignore the ebb and flow of the conversation). You take an isolated comment and then project onto that what you want to believe someone is saying without clarifying or checking what they are saying because you like to make a point and score points! You assume I consider further release of Purple Rain a slight. I don't! It is just going to be an inevitable fact based on commerce and the desire by both the estate and Warners to exploit their assets. Ever since reissues/remasters/deluxe editions etc started happening many artists and record companies have done this. Why won't it happen with Prince's material? The context for me making that comment of future releases was based on other people complaining that song X is not on this release. I was simply pointing out (based on established business practice) that they could well surface on future versions of Purple Rain. So what exactly is your beef? Disc 2 is a joke and where the hell is:
Prince's version of Modernaire (Dez said the master for his version is lost) Wednesday Prince version of G-Spot Father's Song When Doves Cry unstripped with bass and rhythm guitar The strange Crying version of Father's Song
They could have made disc 2 the actual score by Michel Colombier. Why even include single edits?

8/10 is excitement level for disc 3.I generally do not get too excited about slightly better sound quality. I know majority of songs on disc 3, as most have circulated in some form or another. They are excellent songs though but heard some alternate versions already. For the syracuse show , a laserdisc one was remastered for dvd/download and as been in circulation for ages, so you can see it in even better than vhs quality already. Not going to make the show anybetter by remastering it. Still an average show . If you say you your happy with it they wony change it. if you say you wany 9 tracks on first discs that is what you get. if you want to keep it at affordable price you fill each disc. they can have made it alot better. Most know it. just very disappointed. i have nothing against warners they should really deliver on the statements they put out as that was easily possible. i feel ihave been nice.. if you are disappointed and you do not say anythig nothing will be done. . maybe they should pull the release and work on it a little more. Add some demos beutiful ones baby i'm a star purple rain , asociated artist tracks wednesday plus may be 5 more unreleased tracks it can only help. plus take syracuse off and replace with another show .what we have is disspointing [Edited 4/21/17 5:13am]

But your point on already having songs previously unreleased is a moot point. It is tough shit that you have these. By rights you should not have them. I have most of them too. But these were from bootlegs and we (as hardcore fans) sought the, out regardless of the sound quality. On the "fill the disc" comment, we are just going to have to agree to disagree cos I have made it clear that I believe in the sanctity of the original concept of the "album" rather than squashing on stuff that shouldn't be there in THAT context! I have often wondered why Colombier's full score was never released. One track ("Love Theme") was released on a compilation of his work entitled "Dreams". There are also other unreleased musical elements in the film that had nothing to do with him (such as the other versions of "Purple Rain" Prince plays on his boombox and the music played when he first brings her to his room) which it would have been nice to see being released - maybe they'll be on the 100th anniversary box set.
