Yes Velvet Kitty Kat was on Youtube for quite awhile and many of us have heard it. It is nothing sensational, but I liked it. It just has a nice groove to it.

Velvet Kitty Cat sounds like a Vanity 6 outtake (think along the lines of Bite The Beat), although it was actually intended for The Time, supposedly.

Katrina's Paper Dolls has been briefely described further back in the thread. There's a YouTube video with that title, but it's actually an instrumental called Paisley Park/ Joy.

I'm kinda surprised Velvet Kitty Kat is on there, I mean it's very much just a demo judging by the boot that came out last year. Not that i'm complaining, bring it on!

I wonder was Wednesday left off because Prince doesn't sing it? I suppose versions of tracks like Mia Bocca, G-Spot and Vibrator come from that time period as well but aren't sung by Prince.

I don't think Wednesday exists. People have been talking about it forever, but no-one's heard it. There are no versions or rehearsals of it. I think it's a myth.

In a recent interview Susan Rogers said it exists and even confirmed Jill sings it...

Looking through some old threads there's also something called I am Five mentioned by a few reputable orgers...

Also the demo we have of Baby I'm a Star isn't on there, which is a bit of a pity but it might be way beyond the timespan of this release.

yeah,"Wednesday" really exists. In an early script of Purple Rain,Jill Jones sits at a piano (see pic below) and begins singing it.As you know, her character has a crush on The Kid and the song is supposed to be about her feelings for him....."If you don't call by Wednesday",part of the chorus goes.

Would be nice if Warner Brothers Films (separate company different owners) decided in the near future to also issue a special edition of Purple Rain film including out takes such as Jill performing Wednesday (assuming it was actually filmed and cut out).

Nah WBR will save that for the Ultimate Super Deluxe 35th Anniversary edition LOL

They are gonna want to milk this as far as is possible and get folks to rebuy what they already own as often as they can.

I am willing to bet anyone on the Org that THIS is not the last/only Purple Rain remaster/deluxe release.

Edit: due to bloody annoying autocorrect!

That's a real shame. I think we fans have to maintain standards, otherwise we'll keep getting sub-par products.

Already been clear that I think Warners saying "two albums of unreleased material" and not delivering (regardless of how they spin it) was a dick move.

However, if they had only said "one album of unreleased material" then this set would be pretty much on the money (although without s shadow of a doubt folks on here would be complaining track X isn't on there).

I get it that folks don't want single edits (I don't) but there is the counter argument that CD2 represents a definitive collection of official releases which some collectors will want.

The track list is NOT sub par, it just hasn't delivered on the promise and expectations the Warners press release raised.

Now IF the sound quality is crap and this is not a proper remaster and those vault tracks sound like Moonbeam Levels and it has cheap packaging...THEN this will be a sub par product!

Wonder if WB will give a major surprise and unveil Disc 1 as a new configuration of the album with extended versions and other featured artists in the tracklist.

I do hope they rethink Disc 2...I personally have no interest in edits. It's these edits that renders 4ever almost unlistenable.

Disc 3 is a beautiful thing, I can't wait to play that loud.

As for the DVDs...I'd much prefer the audio on CD, the DVDs could be sold separately as a Visual boxset to accompany this Audio set. I know I'd listen to the shows a lot more than sitting down and watching them.

Better than that, I want the completely unedited Rated X version of Purple Rain that has the incest, anal sex, and barnyard scenes that was cut from the theatrical version for it won't receive an X rating. I know it's never gonna happen, but an guy can dream. lol

I hope not! I want the "album" treated as such. It is perfect in its 45min state. Save all the extended versions for CD2 just as they have. Leave the album as a self contained piece as originally intended!

As for the DVDs...I'd much prefer the audio on CD, the DVDs could be sold separately as a Visual boxset to accompany this Audio set. I know I'd listen to the shows a lot more than sitting down and watching them.

Different folks and strokes and all but for me the live concerts are as much a visual as an aural experience. Never been a fan of live albums/CDs. I want to relive the shows I attended (or as close as possible). I want to see Prince pull his guitar face, being flirty and cheeky, abusing that poor microphone stand etc

that is understatement. they milked the hits up to 93 for all its worth. where the fuck are the demoes beautiful ones , baby i'm a star , purpler rain extra verse, wednesday. Also they may as well have associated artist songs featured in film. and there will be more we do not know about. Yet we get nearly a whole disc of 7" edits of songs. and according to warners them 7" edits are an album of new material.

In the statement they said 2 albums of new material and 2 dvds from the vault

They say getting stuff from the vault. 3 out of your 5 discs are already availabe in more than good quality. i do not care abot camera angles i would have chosen a different show. They must have filmed more than one show. It does not have to be perfect. It is just boring getting stuff already got

Susan rogers is a joke .If this all they can give us.

pretty much a joke release i can review this release now for you. with my exceitement level rated out of 10.

1st disc an whole 30 minutes of purple already got this slightly better quality ao give it 1/10

2nd disc 7" edits . same songs only shorter. bollocks 0/10

3rd disc a good disc no alot of the songs but they say alot different version 8/10

4th disc syracuse average show seen it already 0/10

5th disc benefit show 83 good show should be on this release as important show excitement is 5/10 but the show is excellent so no complaints. this will be in better quality than what i have.

Got everyone hyped up with bullshit press release is totally out of order. They should tell the truth . so far they have release 3 things and all they have given is extra1 track and 1 album worthwile. if they can not handle a release that should be as enjoyable for everyone they need to give control to someone else.

Hi Sifi, really appreciating your comments on these, thanks for the input. You seem close to the project, or at least know people who are. Is there any comment from anyone regarding the original press release claiming two albums of unreleased material and what appears to now be only 1 album of unreleased material?

Yep, I'm excited too, really looking forward to this 3rd disc.

The only thing I am hoping with this disc is that the Roadhouse Garden is different to the one which leaked last year. That was great quality but the track didn't feel finished to me and I'm hoping this has more to it. Really looking forward to this either way though.
