CD2 is fine with just the extend versions. I am sure that if there was a When Doves Cry or Wednesday in the vault they would have looked for it... but keep in mind that recently Susan Rogers was talking about Wednesday and mentioned that Jill sang it in the movie... but I do not remember that. But I think I know when it was in the movie...but just cut.

So I am still thinking there is more and that is was an older track list... but then again (ok i am rambling) would Prince put Some of those songs on this?

I am also thinking that "Electric Intercorse" is pretty much the one that is circulating. I read that it was edited by T but the time is so close... I hope I am wrong!

but I am very happy and looking forward to this!

There are two things with remasters:
1- the overall sound quality (your point above)

2- differences in mixing: my point. For example, remastered Megadeth's Hangar 18 compared to the original one is a completely different beast. Sure the sound is 'better' but the mixing is totally wrong. Just the intro alone, where other instruments get to the foreground much more. THIS is not how it's supposed to sound. Is it was, they would have done it back than. That's my issue with remasters.

.

Using Megadeath as an example is ridiculous. Mustaine fucked so much with those. Those weren't remasters, those were Mustaine rewriting history and "fixing" errors caused by him being blind drunk at the time. Using those as examples is like using that painting of Jesus as restored by that old lady as evidence of how restoration is a bad thing.

.

Instead, look up the Dylan remasters from a couple of years ago.

you didn't like the old-lady-Jesus-job? biggrin

I'm pretty sure I actually have two Dylan remaster CD's, will give it a shot one of the days

edit: i checked, they're originals (luckily - but i'll try to get my hand on a remaster somewhere)

Why are Warners acting so secretive about this release? rolleyes The info is out there, let the fans enjoy the news! They should have given us a full tracklist weeks ago! I don't like the way they're delaying things and now they're apparenty still trying to keep this info under wraps....wtf

Being involved in the industry, a lot of advance planning goes into these things and I've been insistent for a while that there'd be a press release about this tomorrow. On reflection, I truly believe that Warners want to get this right. They'd see something as this "leaked" reveal as a bit of a spanner in the works, in terms of them trying to maximise press coverage, on the sad anniversary of his passing.

when ultimate was about to come out a guy who was working on it was here and he said that they had a mock up of one set of songs and a sequencing that was different than what we got. And that was a few weeks before it was released (before being pulled for a while).

I am thinking they only need about 3 weeks to get it all done and out.

Not in terms of getting a press release out with tracklist and marketing in advance. It makes sense for them to issue a release on the anniversary of his passing.

Ultimate didn't receive much in the way of marketing.

If you're in the industry then you would know how badly WB are stuffing this up...

Where is the official website for this release? Or at least an artist page on WB site?

A single cryptically worded press release then radio silence?

Leaked tracklist details from a PUBLIC website and then cease and desist orders?

How about some communication? Tracklist details? The process behind the entire project?

Explanation on why certain tracks? Social media build up? Connect with the fans?

You know, like all the other artists!

Sometimes I wish I was a Bob Dylan or Springsteen fan. Clocking out official remasters, bootlegs, bootlegs of bootlegs, special editions, box sets, wooden boxsets, plastic boxsets, etc etc.

I guess this is and will always be our lot in life being a Prince fan....utter confuson, chaos, random releases and copyright police.

about 18 million of us already have the original 9 track album and most are after the unheard vault stuff. youngsters just want to listen to good songs.they have given us 1 cd of new material in reality on this release

I think for the most part we are violently agreeing lol As my first post said, this is disappointing and WB have been misleading (though as I also said, they will have ways to spin this). I was really excited to be getting "two albums of unreleased material" as I like others read this as "two CDs of unreleased material". If this track list is correct (and it appears to be) then that is not what we are getting. So disappointment aside the question is, will we all be buying this? Bet you will!!!! I certainly will! Oh and again being pedantic, millions of people do indeed own PR already and therefore have these songs but ZERO people own them in remastered quality...just saying biggrin [Edited 4/20/17 5:18am]

still getting it of course. Got to give money to those warner brother rascals..By making a good tracklist you can make it enjoyable. i just think the edits are a bit of a waste . it makes it more affordable to fill each disc. i like to hear diferent songs . i do not want 3 versions of same song they can save the 7" edits for another time. you are just going to bore people. Not suprised they did not honor that 2 unreleased albums of music.

I guess i i like the associated songs in the film. For me just want to hear an album full of good difeeernt songs on most part.

They could easily have made a cd set we could all be satisfied with. you can keep the price the same if you fill the first disc rather than just pad it out and if they ditch the 7" edits of same songs and add afew more unrelease tracks no one would cry as not really missing any music.

Well, Dylan and Springsteen are alive for a start, so can be involved in such releases.

Let's see what's announced tomorrow before going in on WB.

Why wouldn't they release the Dance Electric with Prince on vocals instead of Andre Cymone? Oh, well... I already have both.

I was being sarcastic, hence the tongue smiley. It probably isn't far off from record exec thinking though. If it were to come out on vinyl it'd be two LPs.

Shame about the second disc, I was fearing we'd see a disc of horrible contemporary remixes so it could have been much worse I suppose.

So? This happens for all kinds of shit.

the one I am talking about is an edit of a rehearsal and NOT from the First Ave show. Princevault says Prince did do some work on the one from the concert but frankly the rehearsal is better.

remember variety got their information from Militant. and added their own commentary or maybe it was his? But it was meant to indicate that Andre had released the song. But it would be Prince's version as for one WB can doesn't own it and two the one listed is longer than Andre's.

I am so exited but I keep thinking about Prince's tweets stating that the new people at WB didn't want to pay him properly for this. Now they don't have to pay him at all. I don't want to buy this from WB but I really want it sad
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

They have to pay the estate though. We may find a lot of stuff coming out from WB through the years and if we don't buy it, that amount of stuff will become less and less. Prince is never going to be paid for anything ever again, the only way we're going to hear stuff is if someone leaks it or someone gets paid from an official release.

You're right, of course they weren't.

If Susan Rogers is correct, then at least disc 3 has been assembled and mastered after he passed.

He probably had his remastered album (disc 1) on his desk.

Last night, I got a tip from an industry insider that Warner Bros had registered all the tracks for Purple Rain Deluxe. As a songwriter myself with registered works, I have access to these databases - after following the lead wediscovered the following registrations - all recently registered by Warners marked with a 2017 release date and with full ISRC codes (These codes are used to identify released works across platforms).

So, without further ado here it is! Exclusive information about the forthcoming long-awaited Prince release, PURPLE RAIN DELUXE, to be released in June! Please feel free share this information across the whole Purple Family - all I ask is that you follow my facebook page (The Violet Reality) and repost the included image.
Please note - this is not necessarily the final order of tracks - and it's also possible (though unlikely) that there are other tracks not registered yet. Also worth noting - we've yet to hear anything about the accompanying live video DVDs.

When Prince spoke about it, didn't he say that it was just the same album with nothing extra. It seems quite clear that the rest has been put together and wasn't something he approved, which was probably what stalled the release before with Warner wanting extra stuff and Prince sticking to it being just the main album.

I'm happy we're getting this other stuff in the collection, lookign forward to it.

"the Beautiful Ones" has more lyrics in the part he is talking and it is very nice! "Darling Nikki" IIRC is mostly just some more instrumental jam (But both could be put into the album with ease as could "computer blue" for that matter--but some are purest and would not like that either)

As to Doves... I am not sure the mix with bass even exists...but if it does it is really something that should be released and the estate should make every effort to find it.
