I wonder how the packaging will be.

I hope it'll be in a format that can be replicated nicely if the other albums get the same treatment down the line. I wouldn't like my hypothetical 'Prince Deluxe Remaster Series' to be a line of jewel cases with a big Purple Rain cardboard box sticking up in the middle. lol

The Miles boxsets were nicely done.

I want that California show..
I think was in feb of 85..
Prince did "4 the tears in your eyes"
Madonna & Springsteen came onto the stage.
They were all huge stars at the same time:)

Yeah, I wish that I had the full set. I’d love to see Prince’s catalogue receive similar treatment.

Regarding this track list, I agree that CD2 is slightly disappointing. I’m all for remasters of extended versions, but the shorter edits strike me as a little pointless. That said, as a deluxe version of one of Prince's most well known albums, the target market is broader than just us die-hards, so we should probably be rooting for it.

CD3 looks wonderful though. “We Can Fuck” probably excites me the most. I’ve always liked the later version, but if this is the one recorded the day after Erotic City it’s bound to be good. Does anyone know much about it beyond what’s stated on the Vault? You know it’s going to be edgy if the young Prince thought that it was “too much”.

me too. i looked at it multiple times but it was too expensive for me.

if such a thing were released for prince, and as extensive as some of
those miles special editions are, i think i would scrape the money for
it together no matter what though lol

I think this is pretty great. THE DANCE ELECTRIC!

I'm realy saddneed how cynical some people in this thread are.

There are MILLIONS of fans who deserve to hear all kinds of the stuff on disc three that had never been officially released. Those people take precedent over the hundreds of people with boots.

I am only bummed the strings & piano mix of Purple Rain is missing. Is there a boot copy out there that does not sound like it's from a tape under water...?

Wow, this is great!

Yes, I have 3 of these sets and they're almost little works of art in their own right. Nice form factor and very sturdy (my oldest set, The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions, came out in 2001 and is still in great condition).

A few cheaper versions were released in a different form factor (same contents):

I suspect WB will take a more mass-market approach, but I'd be happy with whatever makes multiple deluxe versions viable. heart

Just a thought.

I think the fact that it specifies Electric Intercourse (Studio Version); is a good indication that one of the DVDs will contain the First Avenue concert.

Syracuse is just okay... there have to be other better shows. I have been saying since it was announced Not Syracuse! (and they did say from the vault which would suggest something not yet released)

People need to realise that only Syracuse was pro shot on video. If any of the other shows were shot they definately weren't done with multiple cameras or done as a complete package ready to release. I've said it many times but it is a real shame no PR shows were shot on film, they could have been remastered in high defintion and would have looked incredible.

I do hope the other live show on DVD will be the famous MPLS dance benefit show from Aug 3, 1983 where Purple Rain was recorded for the album...

Yes, I agree with this. It goes without saying that I want to hear new music, but I'm also happy that circulating tracks will receive greater exposure (in perfect quality).

How much of CD3 is circulating though? I haven't heard:

Love & Sex

Katrina's Paper Dolls

the early version of We Can Fuck

or the studio version of Electric Intercourse.

It sounds as though even the previously leaked tracks may be different versions.

Do you mean shot on film or pro shot? Do we know the entire show was filmed?

That's a real shame. I think we fans have to maintain standards, otherwise we'll keep getting sub-par products.

But you know it's better than what Prince would have given, at least until he was able to put out his independent deluxe Purple Rain. They should have just been upfront from the jump about it only being 1 disc of unreleased music. Disc 3 is absolutely going to KILL.

Overall, I'm happy with this release.

Any chance that the PR remaster is the fully re-recorded version from the late 90s? I've always wanted something that I could play back-to-back with 1999 The New Master. wink

Adorecream

It will be great. Velvet Kitty Kat, We Can Fuck and Electric Intercourse! Sign me up. I hope this is real and not some Bootleg that is dropping.

.

But do we have to buy Purple Rain - AGAIN!!!!! Can't they have a package where they just sell the extras by themselves.

.

And I agree with some of the others, where are the protege songs and Modernaire?

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
