~sigh~ Well if the intent was to cause a meltdown on the board ... good job. Now, what exactly is a "real fan" and how does one achieve that status?

A melt down on the board? I don't see any meltdowns, but I do see discussions.

I doubt this chick posted that photo on Instagram to cause a meltdown here. My guess is she doesn't even know this website exists.

eek Raise ticket prices, close the museum? Beneath Prince? Really? Do you guys think they don't have people behaving in poor taste in the Louvre or in the American Museum of Natural History or the Smithsonian or in the MOMA... or in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum? Dial it down, please. Before long, there will be a petition that you must wear purple to get in PP. confused

Why are so many being so uptight about this? The pic is making me chuckle every time I see it. And PeteSilas, if you can find a picture of my Nan anywhere, fell free to wave your junk at it and post it on the internet. I really wouldn't have a problem with it.

RIP sad

Prince's fans are not typically as protective as this, or, should i say, they weren't before he died. Me? I was always protective of my heroes, i've been booted off the org a couple times defending prince and marvin gaye and it'll probably happen again soon. I don't think we're unusual. Couple years ago, the historic elvis photographer, Alfred Wertheimer advertised an elvis exhibit of his photos on his facebook and he said it would be during the "death watch week"meaning the week of august 16 in which elvis died. I thought it was odd but I just overlooked it, Elvis' other fans went nuts and I loved it, just loved it. Alfred responded and said he's 80 some years old and doesn't even know his own name some days and that he meant nothing disrespectful.

I checked your posts, you seem a little insulted some white kid did some Marvin type stuff, so I'd think you'd get the idea of disrespect. Prince is just as good an artist as Marvin was if not better. Now, singer? well, that's different but hey, it's marvin.

OK you're making accusations you have no reason to make. Maybe you should actually listen to that "song" and hear for yourself how "Marvin Gaye" it is before assuming I have a problem with it because it's sung by a white person.

that's not what i assumed, i assumed you didn't like it because it was garbage, i'll check it out though.

it's not that bad, i expected worse but i see why people don't like him throwing a legends name in there. Smokey Robinson had a song from a white band in the 80's "when smokey sings" he loved it, but he's still alive and hasn't passed into the pantheon of where people should be thoughtful about those kinds of things.

$40 is steep when you're making $13 an hour, my friend. That $40 ticket is 4 hours of work life for me, after taxes. Not everyone is making thousands of $$ a month and can afford to take time away from work to jet to Paisley Park and goof around. That's why I don't appreciate the folks who have gone there and done disrespectful things. I work hard for my paycheck and every $ counts in my budget. Yes, I am sure people goof off at the Louvre and other places (to answer another poster), but the Louvre is not a monument to a person, is it? I'm done with this topic now as I can't understand why most folks aren't getting why this type of behaviour is disrespectful to Prince and his fans. But, I guess respect has diminished in the last ten years or so.....

Ticket prices are steep. General admission is around $40. VIP is $100. PP After Dark is $60. All of these prices are if your order in advance. They also add on another fee on top of those prices. Tickets are more expensive if you just happen to be in the area and drop by to take a tour. These are not cheap tickets. That's why I don't get why folks are doing these type of things. Guess they have money to burn.....

I'm not sure how $40 is steep. I see restaurants and bars packed every day. People are spending more than $40 there for sure. If they price it too low then it either won't make enough money to be worth it and for sure will attract people that aren't fans who are just going because it's something to do and is cheap.

i don't make much more than you and 40 bucks is still cheap, now, the getting there, the taking time away from generating money, gas, lodging or what have you, that's what I'm worried about on my budget. Hell, a hundred bucks one way or the other won't kill anyone. It's the time, the travel that gets me. Not everyone likes travelling, i've cut off my own family members because they keep expecting me to travel thousands of miles over bullshit, I don't enjoy it and I told them that. So, you damn well know that if I do make it to PP, and it's a big if, It won't be to lollygag.

Sure so it's something you save up for. They have to price it to where they are hopefully getting the right people; people that really want to go not people that are going because it's cheap. And also where it's making enough money to be viable.

The song is bad because it tries to replicate the feel of Marvin's music but besides the title and the aloof namedropping of some of his songs is nothing like the music Marvin made. It isn't sexy, it isn't passionate, it isn't soulful, it isn't smooth, it isn't anything that one would use to describe Marvin or his music.

i didn't think Marvin when i heard the music, i thought it sounded like motown music in general and or early 60's style production. Some kid, sean kingsley i think his name was had a pretty good song like that several years ago. It's a gimmick sure, but the music wasn't that bad. He probably didn't even have anything to do with the song, he's probably just a singer. ya, people have to be very careful when invoking idols in their work, fans are very, always very critical of it. I wasn't crazy about the movie Ali, and really don't think a guy like Will Smith has enough character to even think about playing him but you know what? Smith was one of the only good things about that piece of crap.

It's a picture of Prince. It's not like she walked up to him and actually picked his nose. And as much of a joker as Prince was...his sense of humor was incredible....he'd probably laugh it off too and make some wise crack about digging for gold. Now, if she were crawling all over his piano, rubbing up against his guitars...then yes, I'd get offended and angry. But to raise your finger in front of picture...nah, not so much.
